it'll always amaze me how these people had all the connections they needed, and were actively plotting together, but were defeated by a bunch of autistic neckbeards, shut-ins, and NEETs who just wanted to be left alone and play video games.

Like, I remember the initial reaction to the zoe post. It was a bunch of exceptional individuals gossiping about other exceptional individuals fucking each other. It was a tabloid level sex scandal, and would've gotten forgotten about (outside of 'point and laugh at gaming journos' threads) in a week. But then they had to piss of the collective autism of multiple sites, and almost universally committed career suicide.

Literally all they had to do was leave the autists alone and play their video games, and they would've gotten away with it.

Well, first off, doing PR for SJW nonprofits focuses more on being able to spout out the right buzzwords than actually protecting one's reputation.

That said, groupthink is a hell of a drug. If people are used to being able to shut down alternate viewpoints (either by censoring them or screaming haram until the poster leaves) then the ability to steer the group back on course becomes impossible. You see this repeatedly in the CON leaks - someone (usually IMC or one of the thirst-followers like Coffin or Gallant) would occasionally utter something that wasn't borderline retarded and the rest of the group would UGH them out of the chat until they backed down. It doesn't help that the center of this group is a BPD patient with extreme narcissistic tendencies, who will make continual missteps that no one can steer her away from because she's mentally ill.

Which is why neither will do any amount of game development if they can't brag about it on twitter. Most game devs don't consider twitter to be a vital part of their jobs, most don't even use it, but Zoe considers the obvious solution of NOT using her public identity on social media to be "denying my humanity". She doesn't use it in service of her career, she uses her career in service of her twitter profile.

The gaming industry (and especially the gaming press) is desperate to iron out the gender gap and gain more 'mainstream' acceptance, which is why they were more eager to promote Quinn over dozens of white males who made bigger better games in their spare time.

While most independent game developers work in isolation, often for years at a time for little or no recognition, everything Quinn does is in service of narcissism. She's extremely self-conscious of her public image which results in her panicking and resorting to chronic lying and drastic overreactions in order to cover up past mistakes. She believes everyone with a negative opinion of her is obsessed and wants to kill her, because she wants it to be true. Because she has BPD, she'd rather be hated than ignored.

Well, BPD tends to leave people in a state of prolonged adolescence. A teenage girl will become a Steelers fan if her boyfriend is, and when she breaks up and meets the next guy, she'll suddenly get into metal music.

It's entirely possible it was her baiting 4Chan into attacking her one and only YT video that ever had unmoderated comments (conveniently done 1 week before the end of the Kickstarter and comments locked 24 hours after they weren't making her any more money).
