I wouldn't entirely be surprised if the admin is doing this, it's a nice way to try to bribe them into submission but the gas prices won't immediately translate into lower food prices. I'd recommend actually fixing the goddamn economy but I'm not big brain like Robert Reich.

It seemed pretty clear from his fascist-themed speech that this rhetoric would only hurt his poll #s. This is also extremely reminiscent of the “basket of deplorables” comment that sank Hillary’s campaign.

I'd also like to point out the fact that the Left/Progs/Dems are not a monolith. There is no cabal of shadowy figures pulling the puppet strings. No unifying figure tasking all the parts and keeping people inline.

There are various factions each doing what they think will bring them to power in the way they think best. Sometime thier ideas match up but not always. These factions often don't even talk to each other so it can seem almost schizophrenic to someone looking for a grand plan or some kind of order to the madness.

Add onto this the general trend towards far less intelligent and capable people in roles of power currently and you get shit like whats going to happen in 2024. Where you will have the MSM desperately trying to run cover for the various idiots who are each trying to tear the system apart because Orange Man bad.

The only thing I would really fear is a unified Left/Proggie wing with an actual leader. Those are the thoughts that keep me up at night.

Right now we have a bunch of what is basically opportunistic morons running amok without much of a plan or even an end goal and look how far they've gotten. Look how much damage to our culture and our world they've done, what horrible paths they have helped to wedge open for the future despots to utilize.

Let me lightly counter here. A lot of the sheer damage these factions are doing is -because- they lack any unified leadership. So they are constantly trying to assert control over the others and the larger sphere while plenty of people up top ae just trying to steal everything they can from the coffers before it all falls apart.

A unified leader likely would, by necessity, become a strong moderating figure. Since any unified leader would need to be in it for the long-term. As they stand now, all major factions of the left wing are self-destructive in one form or another. So, a unified leadership would -need- to crack down and tame that self destruction.

Saw a newspaper article at grocery store* claiming that "evidence shows the 2020 election was secure"... really? I have a clear memory of different states still counting votes having the same percentages on election night, and that suspicious spike in the number of votes for Biden. Obama is just one leader of one of the factions. Like people said above, they're all true believers, and Obama is a dyed in the wool true believer in his own farts. He's actually apparently pretty fucking stupid, just good at speaking. More of a very respectable muppet than anything else.

Obama benefited a LOT from Hillary rearranging everything a destructive manner to be her own personal army -- right before he pushed her off the stage and took over. Not Gehenna, but IMO it comes across as the Plan B since the economy isn't a winning plank for the Biden admin given how disastrous the actual numbers as. The problem they desperately attempt ignoring is that this sort of culture war issue only works when the economy is doing well; people are worried about finding a single sustainable job which can put food on the table and a roof over their heads - ignoring that and lambasting your opponent as "muh fascist dictator" isn't going to fly far when Trump has a whole term of economic success to point to alongside a peaceful transfer of power.

Yet left to play this card the Dems are because they have nothing else to run on; their diverse minorities hate them for Israel, their (private) union base fears for their future prospects, and the average independent can see what glorious Bidenomics is doing to their pocketbook and children's opportunities. If it wasn't for election fortification, establishment lockstep in with media, and the efforts at keeping Trump off the ballot. this election year would already be over.
