Josh had Courtney as a gatekeeper. I don't hear about her in relation to Josh much anymore. That said, you can't truly wrangle an adult, especially an autistic retard like Josh. He will freely give out his info and will forever allow trolls to get the better of him.
It's the meta debate that surrounds around all lolcows as they get bigger. A little glass tapping is fine because it gives you some interesting content - the green underwear, Warlord dick on a shirt, etc. Hell, even a doordash order can be funny in the right context. The problem is that as Josh got bigger it's never one doordash order but 20 or 30. So the glasstapping just becomes thousands of trolls banging on the glass.
Yeah there’s a certain amount that’s meant to be a nudge to get more content. When it goes too far it actively discourages content. People don’t get it anymore they think the point is to fuck with him or ruin his life. I enjoyed just listening to Josh’s weird antics when left to his own devices.
- he doesn’t overshare about his personal shit anymore because he finally caught in everything is clipped, memed and saved on 50+ YouTube clip shows and people text him giving him shit about it immediately day in and day out
- he doesn’t go places and steam because people call the place and harass the people working there in the hopes it gets to him
- he (tries) not to overdo it with the drinking on camera and for the most part aside from two notable incidents he logs off before he gets hammered and silly because, again, see the first point in the list
- he avoids going live because any time he does people immediately begin sending stupid DoorDash to his door at best or at worst literally try to swat him
- if he does go live he just sits there and mindlessly reads donos because he doesn’t need to do anything and people donate. So you have a retard war between people donating to hear him say their name and people seething that he’s getting paid to do literally nothing and they have to work a shitty job so they try to shut it down
- he makes funny shirts but people try to get it shut down. Thankfully customize girl is a shady fucking company that clearly doesn’t care but they successfully banned his teespring
- he makes silly food combos but now people are trying to discourage that because it’s fraud? I guess? They’re mad that he gets government gibs and uses it on food hacks I think?
- he makes mead and again they want it shut down because they think he’s scamming food stamps
- then after all of that they try to get his channel banned because “his content sucks now anyways”
There’s no content now cause it’s been ruined by weirdo sadists getting their rocks off treating him like an ant under a magnifying glass.
The ones who cry about people gatekeeping also don’t get it. This is a lolcow this isn’t like a video game community or a movie fan base. This is a niche weird interest, it’s not meant to be mainstream or appeal to a wider audience gatekeeping doesn’t apply here like it does in those instances. Notably a lot of people who love bringing in new people and increasing the audience cobra attracts while bitching about gatekeeping all have skin in the game whether they’re clip channels or podcasters. They have something to gain from there being more and more people into cobra because that’s more potential people for their own audience
