No about a month ago he traveled with the Ukrainian delegation to DC for another round of begging but they unceremoniously left his ass there when the rest went back. Correct, there's a huge difference between an American citizen smuggling drugs into a foreign enemy nation and an Amrican citizen having an unpopular opinion in an allied country that owes the US it's continued existence.

I agree on the levels of retardation difference, but the entire Griner thing has always been about the levels of retardation involved with US Policy. Griner, someone who niggers aren’t really enthusiastic about, was swapped as the war was raging and even if Bout has been out of the game for a decade it sounds fucking retarded.

Let’s assume the US did operate that way:

• American tourists/expats end up in foreign prisons for breaking laws in foreign countries, and there are possibly thousands that are jailed that we are unaware of
• The US would end up using a ton of money and resources to release people, and while you can receive legal help, you’re still subject to foreign law
• This implies that US law would apply to every nation for any US citizen in a foreign country, and it doesn’t work like that
• This also opens up the legal precedent that foreign laws apply to the US, and it would get very messy fast. For instance, age of consent laws vary a lot by country

Having this legal standard would be a mess for everyone involved and that’s why there are limits

Neither of these things are true. What a lot of you mouth breathers don't realize is the credibility Lira had gained in the geopolitical field. He appeared, quite consistently on the Duran with the 2 Alexes who are practically royalty in the field. It was his credibility that put him prison more than his actions. People, people who look at every official read-out and read Bild, were listening to Lira. People whose opinions matter.
