First things first, if he was doing this shit anywhere but Ukraine or Israel the US would have shit drown that governments throat, but as a general principle I am fully supportive of this. I’m sick of dumbasses going to other countries, fucking around, and then crying to Uncle Sam to rescue them. Whether it be vandals caned in Singapore, missionaries trying to preach to North Koreans, thots roaming the Third World with a camera. Fuck them. You go to another country, you should expect to play by their rules, like I would hope (although it’s clearly not the case nowadays) would be the situation here.

Ukraine cannot afford to pay pensions or fund their own government without the collective west. Upsetting the people who think they are paying for such things is a bad tactic. No one actually cares that Ukraine has a post-soviet gestapo that beats up their own people during the assembly of a volksturm. No one cares if a million Ukrainians die if it spites Russia. That's the grim reality. The average American might care if that gestapo kills an American. They might care if they cant pay their bills because the money is going to a foreign country that has nothing to offer in return.
What's the point of denying?
This is a bad look for a country pretending to be western. The fact you rattle the words "ex-kgb" off like "they're badass and take no prisoners ayyy fuck you soft liberal westerner" just proves how alienating the Ukraine war actually is to westerners when they're informed of such things. This is why Gonzalo's story is now a tool for anti-ukraine western talking points. But I don't expect eastern europeans to understand this.

Yeah, nobody argued that. Everyone I know in Ukraine is one-degree of separation of some seriously shady shit. Publicity is necessary for attempting to win the war and I think the intention of changing that Ukrainians have is sincere, but that's the type of shit that takes a generation of work to do. Still, the US is honoring their defense accords with Ukraine and a proxy war is better than setting the precedent that it's okay for Russia to do whatever the fuck it wants. It's not a great look but, CRP was never particularly valuable; him neither being a real journalist, just a Kremlin fluffer who spoke shit of the current administration. And the fact that the US is paying pensions is better than the fallout of a complete insurgent war in Ukraine and another refugee crisis in Europe. This is not the US buying Ukraine's sovereignty.

CRP is both simultaneously a joke but a danger to the ukranian people and got what he deserved: an extrajudicial killing. How does that make any sense?

In this case shit did not have to happen. They've known he was sick for a long time. He could've been deported on humanitarian health reasons alone, that happens everywhere all the time.
