Idk man.

At the end of the day it’s just Pac-Man, lol!

I really don’t get people who get mad obsessed and invest autistic amounts of time into investigating a score.

Also: Cheating is super common on vidya. Most pros at some time or another have probably done it.
Even speedrun autists think highscores are archaic and outdated dickmeasuring from the dinosaur atari era of gaming that no one should take seriously. There's a reason everyone stopped caring about them after the NES.

I'll never understand this drama, specifically all the nerds that are so invested on who maxed out the score in Donkey Kong on a TRUE and HONEST console first. Like, some of the arguments in the pre trial questioning were so minute that's it's like why the fuck are you even asking, and for that matter why the fuck is the other guy lying about that. "Was the joystick in black" "No it wasn't i'd never play on a black joystick" who gives a fuck, if it's that easy to cheat at the video game that a reproduction joystick ruins it(god forbid an arcade has to replace the thing after 40+ years and countless people playing on it), then maybe the achievement isn't worth spit, huh.
its about ethics in videogame score records

Twin Galaxy's lawyer Tashroudian personally texting witnesses, demanding they 'TELL DA TROOF!"
Is that the attorney asking questions in the deposition videos Karl showed? Jobst went on and on about how great of an attorney he was, so prepared, setting traps, etc. I suspect he's also the one feeding Jobst all the details for his gotcha vids in the first place.

I'm looking forward to Jobst's next vid about this. He was really counting on the verdict in this case nullifying Mitchell's lawsuit against him. I think this settlement hurts Jobst the most.

Do you think what the Twin Galaxies lawyer Tashroudian did in contacting a witness was inappropriate or unethical? And why or why not?
I don't think it was unethical in context, but he should have kept it all on paper. That is, issue the third party subpoena, file a motion to compel if he didn't get compliance, and slap the recalcitrant witness with legal fees if he lost.

It's also probably not best practices to call the witness a liar, even if he really is a lying sack of shit, which at least one of them was. If he's going to call him a liar he should save it for court or the motion.

If the witnesses were represented by counsel and he knew it, it would be unethical to contact them directly, but I don't know that he did that. If he did, then yes.

Considering his big break was exposing cheating speedrunners, particularly Todd Rogers for submitting impossible times to magazines,
Karl didn't actually expose Todd Rogers though. He just grifted off it.

The guy who deserves the most credit for nailing Todd Rogers to the cross was a guy by the name of Eric Koziel (aka, Omnigamer), who scientifically proved that Rogers' submitted 5.51 time in Dragster was absolutely impossible.

I was reading the Twin Galaxy forums when this was going on. It was some crazy shit. It was Omnigamer's findings that finally caused Jace Hall to pull Todd's Dragster record, all his other records, and ban him from submitting anything ever again. A lot of the "old guard" TG refs that allowed people like Mitchell and Rogers to get away with this shit got the boot too.

I think Karl might be getting too much credit for these things.

Karl needs to do a fundraiser and have the money go to medical experiments for reversing albinism in white mystery meat Aussies.
I hate seeing his pimpled, greasy face, in combination with his blonde hair and almost black-colored eyes.
I'm guessing his ancestors were full-on Dutch at some point before turning into whatever abomination that Karl Jobst is.

He gets a pass though because he voluntarily came clean..
As much as I love to roast Karl, he gets a pass because he did in a time where people didn't really care about speedrunning, verifying and related autisms. Also, gaming magazines never were top-tier journalism and most readers were kids, so no surprises there.

Seems like that Defense lawyer who sperged out was in fact leaking things to Karl Jobst and got caught, so they had Karl write an affidavit to the judge saying his YouTube videos are all just made up bullshit and hyperbole and it was just a coincidence that it matched things going on in the case.

Jobst really has a hard-on for TG's lawyer:

[EDIT: that whole video is interesting now in light of the settlement. Most of it is CYA over his claims in the earlier videos, his relationship with TG and much CYA. He was certain Mitchell would get crushed, I doubt he ever imagined they'd settle leaving him holding the bag]

Wait, isn't Karl still being sued by Mitchell?

This isn't gonna look good.

Mitchell's a lying liar who lies, and his scores are almost all bullshit, but it would be funny (and more than a little infuriating) if a grifting faggot ends up handing Mitchell a series of wins now.

The community that takes these records seriously should tar and feather Jobst if that happens.

The whole video is worth a watch in light of the settlement news. Here Jobst admits TG's lawyers gave him the depositions.

Very much this.
I absolutely can't stand Mitchell, but not even really because of the cheating. It's just one of those things where you know that you'll never be compatible personality wise, and even if it was just someone you met at a social gathering you'd have the urge to punch him in the face.
BUT, it'd be extremely hilarious if he ends up with a huge W when everything's said and done, at least in the legal sense.
It'll probably also just make him even more unhinged going forward

Well, that's not necessarily a problem. We got the depositions of everybody in the Vic case. Including the ones lazy lardass Ty filed late and were never considered. All that was above board. Most of the time they are not confidential.

I think the far more disconcerting thing is that Jobst signed his name to an affidavit where he basically says "Yeah, my videos about Mitchell contain a lot of bullshit." That's a really weird thing to do when you are a named defendant in a separate lawsuit involving Mitchell.

And then there's the "big oof" in the video where he says Tash is good and he'll destroy Mitchell in court. Clearly that didn't happen.

Gonna be interesting to see how Jobst responds to this.

I'm of two minds on this.

On the one hand, Mitchell is pathetic for trying to hang onto old ass 8-bit arcade game scores that are fraudulent. He's double pathetic for litigating any of this. As if it's the only thing he's ever done in his life that's worthwhile.

OTOH, Jobst has really milked the shit out of something that is hardly the crime of the century. I know fucking pedos who don't get this many expose videos made on them. Like... you know... Karl's friend Vito.

Kinda makes nerd culture look retarded all around.

I now think this could be funny regardless of what happens.

It's not so much the fake records that has so many people pissed off it was Mitchell's bullshit legal threats that lead to Apollo Legend's suicide that made Mitchell a marked man in the gaming world. He basically killed a young guy who uncovered his fraud (in their eyes).

Oh yeah! The one where Spectre loudly took credit for trying to save his life, and when asked for receipts, he showed a cell phone log of calls made to the police records department (when it was closed, but he was still totally talking to a dispatcher in the records department for 15 minutes).

It does suck though. I wish somebody actually did try and get him help.

I'm not saying Mitchell isn't a piece of shit. He is. I'm just saying there's been far more ilk spilled and videos made over this dude than far more vile people. Karl strikes me as the type of guy that's mainly in it for the money. That he's buddy buddy with Vito doesn't make me like him any more either.

So this dipshit lolyer not only fucked up what should've been a slam dunk case, he may have fucked up Jobst's case as well.

How do you even do that? The infamous joystick picture alone should've torpedoed Mitchell's case by showing his score was achieved with illegally modified hardware. All the defense had to do was not be a jackass. Fucking shit up this badly has to be an achievement.
