What Have You Cooked Recently?

I made coq au vin. It is the most delicious thing I have ever made. I couldn't stop "taste testing" the sauce with bits of baguette.

Frozen pie, 6 minutes microwave
Frozen vegetables, 3 minutes microwave
Two minute chicken noodles, two cakes with one sachet, hot water, 2 minutes microwave
A good squirt of bbq sauce
One full glass of white wine of the cask
One bottle of IPA

Followed by a few big spoons of vanilla yoghurt.

It's a good combination but you can swap out the sauce for something else of your choice.

Honey Garlic Chicken and Rice.

Decided this was the year I would get serious with managing my diet and weight better, so I'm starting off by doing meal prep for my work week. I'm hoping to eventually get to a point where I've got my meals planned for six days and use day seven as a cheat day, but my focus now is just to stay consistent with 5 days. Really the whole point is trying to work with a calorie deficit to start losing weight. Now if I could just eliminate soda from my daily drinking habits, I'd be on a good path.

Staying at a motel for a little over a week and you know what? Fuck subjecting my body to week of fast food or junk food. Fuck spending $20 per meal at a diner. And fuck trying to cook in a microwave. I brought along my Cuisinart Griddler compact electric grill in my luggage because goddamn it I demand good fucking food for not a lot of money even in absurd circumstances.

So I went out a grabbed a pound of pork stew meat, a can of pineapple, and a bell pepper. I took about half of the meat and and stuck it on the kebab skewers with the pineapple and peppers, other half went into a Styrofoam cooler full of ice. When the meat was near done I slathered it up with some sweet and sour sauce. Also made some lemon pepper asparagus on the grill plate as a side. Ate it on a disposable aluminum plate.
Was fucking fantastic considering the circumstances. A good goddamn meal.

Just because you're stuck in a different city doesn't mean you need to eat like shit or pay a lot of money to eat good.

No, I used Julia Child's recipe. I wanted to make Boeuf Bourguinon since I saw the episode of The French Chef when twitch launched their food channel back in 2016. I can remember her saying that you can use beef, or lamb, or chicken, & that beef takes three hours, lamb takes around two, & chicken only takes thirty minutes. So I opted for the cheaper & less time consuming option.
However, I will save this & use it next time.
I think I'll add roughly sliced carrots to it next time, too.

Enjoy prison, Child.
I think prison would be bearable if Julia Child was the cook. You may get raped in the ass, but your mouth is given some sweet lovin' morning, noon, & night.
Prisoners who worked in the kitchen would leave culinary experts. Optimisticly speaking, they would then go on to brighter futures in the culinary field.

Addendum:
That would make a good movie. Prison Child.

Anywho, I have a roast I'm going to cook tonight. Will post results if it turns out ok.

Dinner.jpg

Like I said the other day if I was a bit more green I'd make it again and upload the results, this is 1 of the 4 made.
Amazed it puffed up this much, especially when I pumped it full of cheese on the inside.
The total ingredients ( same as before except with some more ham) were about ~7 euros so about 2 euros per pizza.

You're probably going to hate this suggestion but considering you already drink sugar water I'll just say that drinking diet soda isn't any worse than regular sodas for your body at the end of the day. There's not much else in the "sweet drinks" department one could recommend if you're anti artificial sweetener though. If you're willing to try you could always drink some tea or something, it's low calorie and it's inoffensive depending on the brew.

I presume you flew? Does that stow away nicely? I kind of wish that compact and mobile cooking solutions were a bit easier to come by.

Train, actually. But yeah, it stows away reasonably nicely in my big luggage. The dimensions when assembled are 15.70 x 5.60 x 10.10 Inches. My big luggage easily accommodated it with plenty of room for my clothes.
This is the one I got. Sadly it seems to be discontinued, but you can still find them online, often in really good condition.

Impressively small and compact. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I plan on travelling, this is small enough it could theoretically fit inside a carry-on bag with a small bit of space to spare.

I made a teriyaki marinade for a pork roast but vastly overestimated the amount of ginger to use. tastes good but it's like giving my nostrils an enema.

I listened to the spirits of my ancestors, but my ancestors used ginger medicinally and not as a seasoning.

I tried to make a chicken sandwich a little in the vein of Chick-Fil-A's spicy chicken sandwich. I just air-fried a chicken breast with sriracha seasoning, toasted the buns, and put a slice of pepper jack cheese on the chicken. I made the mistake of putting the cheese on in the air fryer so it just got all burnt instead of melting nicely. Next time I'll try just putting it on when it's done instead.

Tried making cheesecake with a cake bottom using self-rising flour. Since graham crackers and oreos are insanely fucking expensive. Breutty gud. Thinking of using a red velvet mix next time tho.

What the fuck are all these retarded self-rising flour recipes requiring greek yogurt btw? Like what the fuck.

Made a biiig pot of spaghetti sauce with a bunch of veggies and meat in it (ground beef, smoked turkey bacon, and chicken sausage). Froze some, slowly working through it. A little sad that the garlic isn't showing up in it at all, though. I put an entire head, a bunch of powder, and some minced in there, and one of the sauces I used as a base was a garlic one. I can only assume there just wasn't enough for the volume of sauce. I'm a sad snake, I wanted very garlic-y sauce cause husband and I love it :(

Other than the garlic though, it's pretty good.

Tomorrow...might do a stir fry? Or I'll do my beans and rice mix with beef bones or smoked turkey neck. Not sure which yet. Trying to pack a lot of protein into my meals cause I need more of it and more (good) carbs, shockingly.

Wish I could get salmon for cheap atm...I want some of that in my stir fry.
