In my many years of pondering thoughts I have pondered one so much I now call it "The Onion Problem".
In Christian theology it is said that on the third day "dry land, seas, plants and trees were created" which means that onions were created several days before Adam and Eve. On the six day Adam and Eve were created, having been given form by God and placed in a world without evil or sin.
Since the world was without sin or evil (and thus death) it is fair to assume Adam and Eve consumed a vegan diet initially as they wouldn't have known to kill yet (though in fairness they may have consumed eggs and milk).
The problem is thus: God created a world without evil or sin, provided them food to eat, yet one of those foods was the onion...the most disgusting, vile "food" item mankind has ever known.
If the world was truly free of evil how could the onion have existed in the garden? Moreover, if Adam and Eve were truly without sin why would God choose to preemptively punish them in such a way?
