I don't think anyone here, myself included, would disagree with this. I was mostly just talking about the notion that these people are scared at all.

Personally even though I don't want them here I can't really blame them for taking advantage of the situation. If I came from some third world shithole I'd probably want out too. If I was coming over with some sort of ideological notion of colonizing the west, of course I would especially when they're embracing me with open arms.

No, you absolutely should blame them. Even the shitty eastern european nations under decades of communism never became such unrepentant crab bucket dystopias that you see in the third world. We had something similar during the Ice Storm Crisis of 1998 in Quebec. Three whole weeks of no electricity, no heat, electric poles crushed by the sheer weight of the ice. We were adapted to the cold, but not at this weight.

They're homeless in Toronto. They see many of them in the shelters there. Maybe not in Brampton where they're allowed by other Indian slumlords to live five to 1 bedroom but they definitely go homeless in the Toronto metro. There was a blog a long while back of the Indians sleeping onn the floor on gym mats in Toronto warming shelters... and that was well before the pandemic. These people are POOR. As I said, they flock to Brampton because of the very loose landlord criteria there. They'll have a roof over their head at least... but with 4 other people to share it with in a room.

The rise of porch piracy correlates directly with the boom in e-commerce. With millions of packages being delivered daily, many are left unattended for hours, making them easy targets for thieves. The convenience that online shopping provides to consumers also creates a vulnerability that these criminals exploit.

Thieves have reportedly followed delivery vehicles and swooped in to seize packages when left unattended, according to Montreal West Public Security Councilor Lauren Small-Pennefather.

As package thefts continue to rise, homeowners are utilizing online platforms to expose thieves, seek community support, and sometimes even shame the perpetrators.

The trend of uploading videos of package thefts has gained significant momentum. Home security cameras, doorbell cams, and other surveillance devices are capturing clear footage of these crimes. Victims share these videos on social media platforms like Facebook, X, and Nextdoor to warn neighbors and others.

But now Quebecois police are telling people not to upload the videos to social media. Their reasoning? According to SQ Communications Officer Lt. Benoit Richard, it’s to protect the privacy of the thieves.

“You cannot post the images yourself because you have to remember, in Canada, we have a presumption of innocence and posting that picture could be a violation of private life,” SQ communications officer Lt. Benoit Richard warned, according to a report aired on CTV.

I'm pretty terrified as well, this is exactly the reason why people in Alberta are installing solar panels to circumvent these costs.

Given the presumable lack of sun, compared to somewhere like Southern California or Hawai'i, I don't think Albertans who get solar panels will manage to at least break even on the purchase costs of them.
