What he really should do is get winter tires or even good all seasons on a second set of narrower wheels, a RWD car with a locking diff and good tires is dummy fun on snow because you can just safely low speed drift everywhere like a maniac while having plenty of traction for safe regular driving. AWD on a performance car would just fucking kill him because it only helps you with acceleration, meanwhile braking and turning are exactly as bad they've always been and now you're just carrying a shitload more speed into that same sticky situation.
