That was a far more innocent time. A time when we enjoyed games that were fun for fun's sake.Makes one long for the days of Fugitive Hunter
Now the Hebrews are targeted by the Left as western imperialists. Which does have an inkling of truth, Israel brought western, European civilization to that oil-drenched sand-hole we call the Middle East.Quite possibly the biggest mistake Jews ever made by empowering the Muslim Left. Had they kept the propaganda up, more people would be okay with fucking Hamas to death.
True, but that's a more "recent" thing (basically when Facebook and phone games took off). Before it really was male-dominated, though supposedly the male centric marketing only really began during the 3rd gen, before being more family oriented. It's not that gaming is male-dominated, it's that the games women like are so alien to men that men call them "non-games." Women love games, play tons of them, and drive piles of gaming revenue, they're just games that men find stupid and boring. But on the flip side, the games men like are by and large yucky and gross to women. Driving cars super fast? Bursting zombie skulls? Conquering the world? Ew!!! Why are the things men like so gross!!!!
We can only hope, they better just not fumble Switch 2.Going back to video games, I think Nintendo is going to continue dominating the market.
This is unpopular because it's true and we all know it.There's probably no reason to play much Vidya past the age of 30. It's an arena to explore and play pretend so you know what to do in real life. If you go past that you're either in it professionally or lack something in life. Doesn't mean the occassional game for nostalgia sake or trying out a new hobby virtually is bad but playing games as a hobby probably is.
This can be hard. I tried to earn my happiness through hobbies and self-improvement. It can go a ways when I'm back home, but when I cross state borders the energy drains from me. There are things I can enjoy, like trying to play my fiddle, that are attractive back home, but not in my apartment. I've likewise tried to summon the energy to try new things, but it's all gone now, there's very little left. I rally myself every now and then.Kinda struggling with this myself a bit. I know it fills a bit of a void even though I don't want to admit it. One could say it's the same with any hobby. But if you're interested in racing you might as well go for a real car at this point, if you're interested in guns get a real gun, if you're wanting to explore something then explore it. RPG fan? Go RPG trying to get a deal or get a girl or get in somewhere.
I was rambling to myself (I talk to myself a lot) one day and on occasion I learn new things. I suppose I mostly talk to myself because I've always liked talking, even the physical act of it, but I hate people anymore and keep away from them. Anyways, I'm babbling to myself about the logic of how reward systems work in games. How games usually have currency that you earn to spend on things. And it proves that people enjoy work and reward. Not just accomplishment - many games have no competitive aspect, no skill as such, no meaningful sense of victory that people, usually boomers, fixate on - but toil. But people don't enjoy hard work. Or long work. They like to feel a sense of ordering their environment and acquiring things, and so they prefer a game that denies them things like outfits or certain weapons or vehicles upfront. What I learned was I mused to myself about how it is just easier to be productive at these tasks than it is at finishing my real work here. But there is a meaningful distinction between accomplishment and productivity. Some people, though (mostly multiplayer game addicts) do specifically get accomplishment from it.Games make everything so much easier and accessible but what they offer is less than the real thing.
You just blew your post. Just go be a general in a war brah. But I think so about other things too, like people who play chess. Chess was used as an abstraction to teach and expand strategic thinking and prepare people for literal or figurative war. If you take chess seriously it's like taking the abstraction seriously. Instead of applying it to reality you apply it to itself. Its a waste.
>just gotta meet a nice girl and just go buy a farm somewhere sonny jim, it's literally that easy! But as long as we can live through these fantasies in a game, there's less of a chance we will actually embark on them in real life - cause we get our fix - and that's a sad, depressing thing.
I mean, if atheists look in the mirror and look at all their problems, it makes Christianity's problems seem minor in comparison. Cinema Snob just seems to go for shitty religious movies when there's plenty of good religious movies out there, especially the ones about saints. As an atheist, I can confirm.
It's not as if Christianity doesn't deserve it. They have major problems. Just look at something like Theremin Trees or any of the Christian episodes of Cinema Snob. Where it becomes a problem is when it's spineless fedora tipping.
We can only hope. The Switch is finding success while PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is finding failure. We can only hope, they better just not fumble Switch 2.
Usually posts that look short trigger the no-full-quote when they have spoilers or something or already quoted a longer post. How do I quote a lager post? It seems that posts randomly are quotable or not quotable, irrespective of their actual length.
The opinion is about video games and who do I berate? Myself? I m stating that Im literally struggling with the dilemma that I'm describing.
Please quote me where I'm berating someone for stating their opinion. Im berating the hobby of video gaming, that's my opinion. But anyone is of course entitled to theirs. I think I also acknowledge the positive effects it might have on someone who has autism and struggles to socialize otherwise, don't I?
So you'd rather be dating a one dimensional character in a video game or what? Why not try hardmode that is iRL? Heck a lot of girls might be starting to feel the same way but you'll never know about each other. Unless you're both playing some MMORPG or something I guess
And yes, that's a fantasy among especiall the young urban tech professionals and economists. That's why there's almost a flight to the countryside from the urban cities for the first time in centuries. Even Marie Antoniette had a farm to fuck off from the pressures of the royal court.
Maybe the solution is to go farming, instead of living that life in a game while having your soul drained in an office?
I realize it's not easy, I've gone in some similar thoughts of abandoning my life and opening a little pub/In somewhere in the countryside for example.
But as long as we can live through these fantasies in a game, there's less of a chance we will actually embark on them in real life - cause we get our fix - and that's a sad, depressing thing.
WIth VR and AI its gonna get even worse. We should stop this while we still can.
Anyway @Ughubughughughughughghlug you're right. People want that sense of reward and accomplishment and there is often a division between their direct contributions to something in say a work environment and their actual reward or sense of accomplishment so games act as a surrogate for this kind of thing.
You couldn't make it more clear that you're not even close to turning 30.There's probably no reason to play much Vidya past the age of 30. Maybe you should have a lager and relax. How do I quote a lager post?
This one guy is telling me I'm far below 30.You couldn't make it more clear that you're not even close to turning 30.
Cute.>just gotta meet a nice girl and just go buy a farm somewhere sonny jim, it's literally that easy!
Alright gramps, back to bed with you.
The reason there's less of a chance of buying a farm in the middle of nowhere is because of inflation and corporate consolidation making that financially infeasible for the average person. (((They))) need warm bodies in a corporate office more than they need warm bodies in the middle of nowhere, so they place that option out of reach for the average person. I don't think people playing Stardew Valley for the few hours they have between wageslaving and sleeping had all that much to do with it. Getting a little discipline, putting down the controller and being a MAN is not going to do jack diddly fucking shit about the fact that we live in one of the most expensive times to live in history outside of maybe the Weimar Relublic. There's unpopular takes then there's this retard boomer shit.
This guy comes off like a college student who feels like he's got life by the horns, and he's so pumped up, he's become an advice dispenser. What a guy.
Nobody tell him that Shirley Curry, AKA the Skyrim Grandma exists (and we all love her). Or that after multiple surveys, the average age of an EVE Online player was 26. Or how many guys even "over 30" still game like crazy and gasp are just normal guys with jobs and marriages and kids. You couldn't make it more clear that you're not even close to turning 30.
Your point may not be wrong, I guess, but nobody seems triggered. You guys are getting triggered hard. Jeez.
Well it's stirring up a bit of a ruckus, apparently I'm a 20 something grampa and thus my opinion is invalid according to some. At least the thread is living up to its title finally. You aren't wrong, I guess, but nobody seems triggered.

It's just standard disagreement my guy. I think your view is just idealistic.Well it's stirring up a bit of a ruckus. At least the thread is living up to its title finally.
This isn't reddit. You don't get a wholesome big chungus 100 upboat for posting an unpopular opinion on le unpopular opinion thread. You say some dumb shit, people are going to call you a dumb shit. The good news is your posts aren't going to get deleted for no reason and we can call each other retards and niggers all we like as we argue about it.Well it's stirring up a bit of a ruckus, apparently I'm a 20 something grampa and thus my opinion is invalid according to some. Yeah, my dad did all of that shit, and more. And still plays EVE Online. Hell, we play it together, we have since I got my first job and could afford my own subscription. It's even sadder kinda if people are having families and children and what not and spending that time online in a game that requires so much grind as Eve online. They could be out there building tree houses with their kids or taking them on camping trips. They could be creating meaningful engagements with the people around them and improving themselves and their community and having a lot of fun doing that.

Mind you, you sound more like you're talking about yourself...anything you'd care to confess?
Nigger, speak for yourself. Don't project your failures onto other people in a desperate attempt to feel better that you are a loser.I'm just trying to find a way to escape the rat race myself and I sometimes think if more people at least could admit it to themselves that they are stuck in a loop they don't want to be, then having conversations and finding ways out or at least finding some respite from it all would be easier.
We can be slaves to our conditions but lets at least be aware of the fact that we have chains rather than willfully step into the mindset of those in the platonic cave that aren't by the power of self-delusion refuse to even acknowledge the sun.
I tend to notice the same thing with the anti-coomer anti-porn types. If you talk to them for long enough a lot of them will eventually slip up and admit they needed a 12-step plan to stop touching their peepee to tranny fart porn, so they're going to project that onto you and assume because they had no ability to self-moderate, you must not have that either. So we now need a wholesale ban on internet porn. For your benefit, of course.Yeah, my dad did all of that shit, and more. And still plays EVE Online. Hell, we play it together, we have since I got my first job and could afford my own subscription.
Mind you, you sound more like you're talking about yourself...anything you'd care to confess? You know, like how Andrew Tate claimed video games were for losers, too...and then turned out to be a human trafficker and pedophile woman-beater.
