I don't really get how genital preference is any more valid than preference for the male/female body type.

Because there is no one way to be a man, a woman or a non-binary. It's bigoted to think that men have dicks or only women have big beautiful boobs. You really should understand diversity of gender expression and bodies.

Still nobody is attracted to everyone and everyone has some features they like or dislike. Even among such meaningless little things like if you have a penis or vagina. Pansexual is an attraction to kitchen items, particularly cooking pots and pans but it can be anything, plates, utensils, knives, blenders, etc.

"Demisexual" was invented by a 15-year-old RPer on some weeby Proboard in 2004. She needed an excuse for why she fell in love with other characters all the time, except not the yucky ones.

Someone called Factual Wriley brought it to Tumblr in a tongue-in-cheek post sometime around 2008-2009, and it spread from there to all the straight kids who wanted desperately to fit in with queer dangerhairs before being trans got "cool".

It's still primarily used by the personality-deficient hetero tweens, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of kids assume they're asexual by default because they're either prepubescent, or know they are different from the slavering pornsicko queers overrunning their online spaces but assume they themselves are the problem.
