Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Eric addressed the Alex Stein drama. Eric says he never agreed to the debate, had no interest in doing one and was only contacted hours before the event. Most of the topics seem to just be aimed at Eric specifically and EVS apparently was the one who reached out to the Alex Stein show. Interestingly Eric might have showed up to the studio if EVS was physically there to actually have a real conversation instead of putting on a show for the audience. All in all, it looks like a poorly constructed trap to shit on Eric and farm views.

He reads out the dm's between him and the producer at 1:26
Eric Youlie is a good name for this dude loool
rip PULL UP

It's crazy to me that this got as far as a Blaze producer contacting July to set this up. Dedicating a whole show on shitting on the business and the person of someone that works for you sounds like trouble.
Isn't the Blaze already getting sued by Sydney Watson? You'd think they'd be more careful.

Also how many in CG are 6 digit crowd funders? I've seen the CG king stream thumbnails and there's usually like 7-9 people...are they all 6 digit crowdfunders?

If you count original comic work crowdfunded in 2022 or 2023, probably around three not counting Ethan himself. Alot of those guys on CG Kings do small campaigns that don't raise much. Usually well under $50k. Mike Baron for example who was on the last CG Kings show did a $20k campaign. Eric weathers did a $12k campaign.

I suspect EVS is running low on money or can at least see he won't raise any more through crowdfunding until his current projects are delivered in a couple years so manufactured Internet Blood Sports is going to have to pay the bills for the forseeable future. It really is as simple as that. He has grown accustomed to a certain lifestyle now, after all.

It was probably always inevitable but this is what he is now, not an artist.
I think this is the case too. Snowman Cold day in Hell has been done for over 8 months and still hasn't started fulfilling yet. Probably doesn't have the money fulfill even smaller campaigns like Snowman.

Matt Martin the artist and creator doesn’t even know when it will begin fulfilling

I know when you're self employed you can work whenever but I would think you'd still put in enough total hours per month to be considered fully employed. But EVS is giving off the impression that he lives on twitter and youtube. Or a concert hall. I know he does very detailed pages but how many percent of a page should he be able to push for 8 hours a day?

So Ethan... wants to "Concern Troll" Yellowflash to pay Dillard (Though has a contractual deal for 40%, GOOD DEAL imho), yet is holding up Matt Martin's fulfillment and sullying both their names in the process?

Like what kind of moralfagging is that?

If it's done, it's done. If Matt is payed (Of course using Ethan's logic he already payed Matt his percentage) then what's the hold up?

And there's a LOT of new comments asking for refunds.

Hold the fuck up. I thought when Nick Kerrs posted about it, Matt Martin is in the dark because he doesn't know when he'll finish drawing his comic. Now you're revealing to me that Matt Martin has done all his work and it's just a matter of printing and shipping it but since EVS is handling it, he doesn't know when?! And EVS is on the internet playing around and attacking some other guy's publishing that delivers on time?! What the fuck?! I knew EVS was starting to publish works of other people he's butt buddies with but this is insane!

This was last update by Ethan himself saying only 12 pages left on campaign. (Cut artwork from grabs for reasons of not making a long screenshot) But check out OG post.

Seems Matt was waiting for a quote since August of 2023 for printing.

Yeah feels like the money is gone.

So the fact that this isn't a bigger problem for evs, I am surmising that EVS audience is actually not a circle but two. Cause how the fuck can your main audience go around on other people's channels/twitter and brigade like a troll but not know their king is fucking up worse than their target? It also make sense that he has veterans in his cg kings streams but they cant break 6 digits while evs breaks 500k each campaign?

I appreciate all the information you guys share. I'm learning a lot about CG lore here, and I'm loving it. You guys are awesome.

I also see a lot of people distancing themselves from CG, which just shows the huge potential that CG had at the beginning. I believe if CG was better managed, with a much better leadership, we would see a movement big enough to compete with the mainstream, because of the great people that would support it. But unfortunately, the leadership became a joke, they want to be the Kardashians of comics (no money, but they got the whores and lame drama).

I used to read a lot of DC comics, nowadays I usually just read manga, frequently. I'm used to reading about 180 pages per book (volume). The quality is good and the price is even better (around 8 bucks).

I feel completely astonished when these guys struggle to put out a book in 3 years, and I check the number of pages: 30 fucking pages! Is this a joke?! what the actual fuck? :stress:

Anyway... It seems more drama is coming. Stay tuned lol

I actually believe that these guys would fit in the sex game patreon grifters group better, they act the same (lateness, laziness, paltry updates, shit talking your backers)

Lol Miura draws Berserk with as much detail if not more and even with his delays and fucking around with idolmaster he still put out more work in the thousand fold.

Anyway check out the korean ones too. Lots of them are just variations of "portals open on earth and humans become super humans with rpg like mechanics"/isekai/regression stuff but there's enough further variations where they explore super hero stuff or sports battle (the monsters got defeated so humans just fight each other for fun and start up battle leagues), military, cooking, martial arts, fantasy, gangster, etc. Skip the chinese ones though. Most of them are terribly written and drawn. Just pirate them using tachiyomi on your phone or something. Download the app, look for a website source in the app, download it and start browsing.

Also EVS has crowdfunded a few million dollars...and even with all the printing expenses, what could be eating up so much money (if he's potentially doing the equivalent of credit card kiting)? His house? Would be funny if he fucked up his money with crypto like boogie did.

Funny you mention Berserk, EVS called Miura's art dogshit, multiple times on stream. Clearly, the artist in him is gone (or maybe he's just delusional and/or just likes American-made comics).

Thanks, I will check that out. :)

See, if he's shitting on berserk then you know you can't take anything evs says seriously. Mike s miller might be right when he said evs is just a details porn artist. The females evs draw might be highly detailed but they all look dead and unappealing to me. Like one of those gross 3d blender porn models.

Warehousing unsold product for one. IMO the dolls were the beginning of the end. That toy line that nobody asked for hijacked his attention for a full year and cost a fortune to produce. That's still small potatoes compared to warehousing that unsold product for what, three years now? One Salamandroid doll takes up the warehouse shelf space of probably 50-100 comic books.

Another thing I haven't seen mentioned is that EVS doesn't crowdfund to just produce the books for the campaign, he prints tons of the stuff to sell himself for years to come (all paid for by the campaign backers). He used to brag about this - he thought it was a brilliant business plan. Storing trailer-truckloads of shit in New Jersey to sell years from now is expensive.

I also believe he expected CF3 to raise at least double where it is now ($500k). I could easily see him being loose with the money from other campaigns believing he would have at least $500k more available than he ended up with to replenish the bank after launching CF3. The relative flop of CF3 also sets a ceiling for CF4 that's way below the trajectory the franchise was heading before he threw it all away by not keeping his promises.

Yeah the salamandroid toy is so weird to me. It's like the brontosaurus megazord. Who the fuck really cares about that? If i am still into power rangers and want to get the megazord toys id want the 5 into megazord humanoid first. Not the the fucing bronto.
