Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Funny you mention Berserk, EVS called Miura's art dogshit, multiple times on stream. Clearly, the artist in him is gone (or maybe he's just delusional and/or just likes American-made comics).

Thanks, I will check that out. :)
EVS expresses seems to promote that opinion on manga in general. He's shit on it pretty consistently.

I think he wants to grift off of an "east versus west" art feud, but gets too much pushback from his audience when he starts to go in hard.

Hold the fuck up. I thought when Nick Kerrs posted about it, Matt Martin is in the dark because he doesn't know when he'll finish drawing his comic. Now you're revealing to me that Matt Martin has done all his work and it's just a matter of printing and shipping it but since EVS is handling it, he doesn't know when?! And EVS is on the internet playing around and attacking some other guy's publishing that delivers on time?! What the fuck?! I knew EVS was starting to publish works of other people he's butt buddies with but this is insane!
If I was Matt, I would be fucking pissed at @FROG for dicking around on twitter and youtube picking internet fights instead of getting the book out to the backers waiting a year and a half with no update in sight. Those are people who probably are gonna think twice about throwing cash at anything with Matt's name on it and he's not even the main one at fault. Dude needs to put a foot up Ethan's ass and tell him to start fulfilling those books if it's done. Hell he should kick Ethan to the curb and do fulfillment himself if he has to.

I think this is the case too. Snowman Cold day in Hell has been done for over 8 months and still hasn't started fulfilling yet. Probably doesn't have the money fulfill even smaller campaigns like Snowman.

It could also be disorganization. He has several different campaigns in some stage or other of fulfillment. Many of the campaigns were full of different sub-products which makes keeping track of it all difficult. He is also warehousing all kinds of inventory which defeats most of the business advantages of crowdfunding and is also extremely expensive. Fulfilling a comic is relatively easy. Fulfilling a single campaign with 20 different types of merchandise all coming from different suppliers that can be ordered in tens or hundreds of unique combinations is no easy thing.

The thing that hurts Ethan the most in terms of comics is his dislike of drawing comics and his terrible productivity in producing comic art. He produces one page of art every few weeks. Ethan would no doubt bring the same lack of a work ethic to running the production, warehousing and fulfillment parts of his business. Which is to say that things which a normal person might quickly do would take Ethan months.

Other people (Richard C. Meyer) ran into these types of problems as well. The first Rambo comic seems to have been a production and shipping hell for Richard with the problem being all the non-comic parts of the project rather than the comic.

The other thing worth remembering is that in the early years, Dynamite Comics was Ethan's secret fulfillment partner. He didn't have to do much for the first cyberfrog comic. But when he lost Dynamite, it was all more or less on him to do it all. And he is frankly a really lazy guy.

Warehousing unsold product for one. IMO the dolls were the beginning of the end. That toy line that nobody asked for hijacked his attention for a full year and cost a fortune to produce.
The fact he said it cost $200k alone for one Cyberfrog (all parts) figure machined metal molded...

I mean let's see:

3 figures 1/12 scale $600k
Wasp Figure, much bigger design probably around $350-400k

So that's $1 million right there.

Then there's production cost of prototypes, plastic, paint apps, approval, bubble design, card print outs. I'd say close to $600-800k,

So with that in mind...
Screenshot 2024-01-18 003031.jpg

That's -$1,180,007 in the RED.

He'd been better off with one figure and let the profits pay for each new figure release.

But nearly $2 million DOLLARS on toys when that could have been used for many other things, like I don't know leasing printers and hiring print specialists to do in-house fulfillment. Which in turn could have been used to make revenue by printing and fulfilling other CG books other than Pros/Kings.

See, if he's shitting on berserk then you know you can't take anything evs says seriously. Mike s miller might be right when he said evs is just a details porn artist. The females evs draw might be highly detailed but they all look dead and unappealing to me. Like one of those gross 3d blender porn models.
A mistake a lot of younger people make, and many unintelligent folks as well, is that they assume anything worth making must take a lot of time to make but they overlook the fact that being a master means you can make a high quality product quickly and efficiently due to all of the things you've learned in your experience and the things that take a long amount of time are experimental and often times new to you in some way.

The fact he said it cost $200k alone for one Cyberfrog (all parts) figure machined metal molded...
Bullshit. They probably run about $20k for something of that quality unless he's being robbed.

For small runs he could have probably gotten the cost way down as durability of the mold for production size is a major factor.

I barely know anything about ComicsGate through the Nick Rekieta stuff. Is everyone involved in it a retarded manbaby seething/obsessed with a field nigger from Texas?
I'm not particularly familiar with CG but I think it's more that the Texas darky exposed all of their flaws so now they're seething. I actually had a favorable opinion of EVS early on, and Balldo, but both ended up being retarded mongoloids.

Comics people are f'ing weirdos.

Have you seen the Salamandroid doll with fully articulated tail? It's huge and probably has 100 parts.

He may have been overcharged, yeah. However to clarify, that price also includes the 3d model commission.

Just for perspective a Sideshow Collectible headsculpt at 1/6 scale is $1500 just for the 3d file. I know this because of artists in those circles.

So if you consider the artist, his price points for whole figure to be made, 3d file sent to Chinese company, prototypes of metal mold and final metal mold. Yeah, $200k isn't far fetched for 1/12.

This is also why a LOT of start up companies go with 1/18 as base, it's a lot less to produce one vs 1/12 or 1/6 scale.

I'd also like to point out since Ethan doesn't own the molds and China is known to do bootleg. (Like LEGO with LEPIN) Expect to see Cyberfrog knockoffs on AliExpress in future.

I had to look up Sideshow Collectible headsculpts but those look far more detailed (those are actually impressive), and I doubt the two Cyber Frog sculpts had that much difference. I can see tens of thousands being his cost, I can't see hundreds of thousands as his cost for that quality of figure.

EVS shows up at 15 minutes in and admits the ComicsgateProSecrets youtube channle is about to loose 1k subscribers, blamesEric July's followers.
*snort*

He's been losing subs for a long while now. It's been noted in this thread countless times for the past year or more.

Maybe it's accelerating under the July feud, but he has only to blame himself for that.

All this shit because some goofy black dude can put a comic book out on time, and slighted an admitted pedophile. :story:

Ethan has shit taste. I understand his aversion to "cutesy" anime stuff, but that ain't Miura.

Also, Mirua should practically be Ethan's spirit animal. They both are known for having huge gaps between published works. Berserk was infamous in that regard.

EDIT: Typo.

There are some detailed images here:

He also made variants. These are (Chinese) hand-painted and assembled too.

Close. But the obsession is more with following the orders of a middle-aged failed LA comedian and his fat greasy openly pedophile sidekick. The Comedian peaked out in 2008 but still believes he is going to be a star someday. He is convinced he can get a TV show if he just beats that field nigger hard enough

You wanna know something funny? Ethan could have saved money making Cyberfrog a sprued model kit like a Gunpla. Basically a one injected model kit, maybe 2 sprues.

If he made different molds for each bit instead of making a master mold or a mold in a sprue style, he's retarded beyond reason.

Again, he's no Todd McFarlane. I'm sure Todd did on sight inspections of plant, had teams to do data research on part costs etc.

Ethan never went to China, he just took their word.

When all this was announced didn't he say he had a team of top-notch toy designers from like Mattell or the like who "think like us" so had to stay anonymous and they were giving him such a special deal that he just had to put his comics on hold to do it right then? I seem to remember that and it wasn't entirely believable. I told him here at the time it would be a disaster.
