Going off what we know about her role in all of this, I personally see her as unreliable at best, and suspicious at worst. Don't get me wrong, if she was abused by CJD, that's horrible, but several aspects of her story don't seem to line up (i.e. the miscarriages, the fact that in spite of her receiving money from a member of the cult in Australia to travel across state lines, there is no visible evidence to say such a transaction ever occurred, etc.), as well as the fact that she was supposedly tasked with recruiting new members of the cult that would go on to be victimised.
If CJD did do this, Max and Spencer have scuppered any chances of a proper legal investigation succeeding, and if he didn't, then they've defamed him for months. If the former is true, not only is Max giving fraudulently-obtained money to someone whose recount of the events is unreliable, but he's giving money to CJD's enforcer, who directly led to more people being hurt.

I could just take the easy approach and link to several posts that give summaries of what's happened, though if somebody wants to take a stab at it, lmk and I'll add it directly into the OP with credit. Again, serious claims definitely should be double-checked when presented as fact, but you really have to be an egotistical maniac to straight up lie to both your friends and audience about getting an alleged predator arrested, only to later admit that he most likely got away. It's genuinely unfathomable to think that this guy wasn't merely exaggerating or embellishing certain details from his cases, but has been larping as a successful vigilante while fabricating a ton of claims this entire time under the guise of protecting children and giving them a voice.
I agree that there should have been far more scrutiny involved before cosigning this shit, though I do understand how people tend to get swept up in these "fake it till you make it" schemes run by seemingly influential fraudsters (like with the folks behind Theranos, WeWork, FTX, etc): Obviously Max isn't running a massive tech company with a high valuation, though he did carry the notoriety of getting not only the attention of large creators, but also the attention of YouTube's higher ups as well. People are generally willing to believe somebody telling a gruesome story in elaborate detail about how underage victims are being targeted, and the perpetrators are being dealt with in some way.
