It's pretty simple, man. Someone accuses me of taking things out of context, but conveniently ignores the immediately preceding scripture to the ones they cite which completely throws out their argument, and then that somehow means I'm a serial killer and the church is collapsing because of me.
Maybe she was just wrong, like I showed? I mean granted I'm probably not engaging in the right spirit, but the truth is what it is.

Do you still go to the Episcopalian church? Because this second post makes it seem like you’re more non-religious. Also, what specific sect were you a part of that was cult-like?
The reason I ask is because @SSj_Ness seems to have pretty standard Christian beliefs. I’d like to understand a little better what you consider to be real vs LARP in Christianity.

No, that was a one off. I don't like attending church on a regular basis, it gives me the creeps. I hate socializing.
I was raised Southern Baptist, which had some troubling components but overall wasn't so bad. Later on my family got involved with the Gothard cult, which was - is - basically the "Christian" version of Scientology.
Bill Gothard harped on Paul's teachings relentlessly in order to justify abuse. He never talked about Christ as far as I can recall.
Sure, and maybe this is a pointless argument. This isn't the first time I've argued with a professed "Christian" about their apparent lack of compassion, and it won't be the last.
The contemporary church is horseshit. It's a bunch of modern Pharisees doing off-Broadway productions of "Christianity: The Musical!" and getting rich off the collection plate.
Jesus showed compassion. I fail to see any compassion whatsoever in the modern Paul-based versions of the Christian church.

I know. It's a fool's errand. Screaming into the void sometimes makes me feel better though, so that's what I do.
If I can convince even one person to show a little more compassion, it's worth it to me. But I'm aware I come off like I'm unhinged, probably because I am.
Good thing I don't claim to be a Christian.

Loving and accepting of people, not of their sin. The homosexual and the adulterer are both loved and accepted, but are supposed to turn away from their sinful behavior, not have it celebrated in the church.
Start your own heretical version of a religion or a whole new one instead of subverting the existing ones.
