It's basically treating the deaths of NPCs in a digital environment as if it were the same thing as killing a living, breathing human being. Which is fucking hilarious. That's like saying I'm killing a man when my knight takes out a pawn in Chess. Or that I'm killing people when I'm playing a tabletop game and I have my units take out the enemy units.
I mean, maybe if we're talking about contact sports like gladiator combat, jousting, and melees where people can die, this critique is well-earned, but video games don't kill people unless they're too stupid to stop playing and they forgot to eat and sleep.
I remember the one loading screen asking me about how many American soldiers I've killed up to that point. I'm like, ''BITCH, I played Modern Warfare 2, Metal Gear Rising, and Fallout 3, where you fight American soldiers that are part of groups like Shadow Company, Desperado/World Marshal, and the Enclave. Killing Yankee soldiers in video games ain't that shocking to me anymore. I've gunned down dozens of them, sliced them into pieces and tore off their spines, blew them away into giblets, and disintegrated entire platoons of them. I've grown desensitized to that kind of moralizing by this point.''
