I don't think anyone covered the Michael Malice interview with Sam and Jet so here's that.
Most questions apply to season 1 but there are some season 2 bits in there.
  • Sam reaffirms that Ice Poseidon's old streams inspired Fishtank
  • Asked about casting process, Sam shakes his head and says "Eh... we gotta do pro casting next time. This time we did Craigslist and the fans immediately found the Craigslist post and started flooding the casting email with auditions. I think we found maybe Shinji... one person... who is not a fan this time around."
Jet adds that Shinji was shown the show via a fan
    • Jet expresses surprise that fans found their Craigslist ads and said the "every one is the fan" idea where if you reveal you're the fan you're out was a way around this
    • Jet says the "grand realization" was "a cool moment" but they don't want to do fans again. "It's funnier for the audience if they know more than [the fish] do."
    • Later, Sam says they will bite the bullet and pay a professional casting agency and that they want people who aspire to be on a reality show like Duanye
  • Michael asks about the "boiling the frog" method of Fishtank
    • Sam says since everyone was a fan this time they wanted to amp it up much quicker
  • Michael says it seems like Sam cares about the cast and tries to look out for them when individuals are low
    • Sam says he thinks he and Jet are sympathetic people, to which Jet nods
    • Sam says he thinks sympathy is normal and they try to make sure everyone gets a good send off.
    • Everyone leaves with at least "a couple thousand bucks"
      • "Unless they really.. fuck off early or uhh or are really not interesting to watch. Even Britney who we kicked off today, she was interesting based off of how uninteresting she was."
    • Jet adds that people have commented it's like "autistic kid bootcamp" and remarks on people coming off the show better off socially
      • "The intention of a lot of the challenges is to bring out the best of them. It's very gratifying to see them progress in their character, that's the one thing that gets us really attached to the people, just like the audience does. Seeing someone grow and change. That's like the purpose behind uhh some of these extreme challenges, can you overcome it? The person you were on day 1 would not have done this.." Jet
  • Michael brings up Airsoftfatty and asks if it was a positive experience for Fatty
    • Sam says people love Fatty, it was a positive experience and that he's coming back Saturday
    • Jet looks over at Sam
      "He's moving in?"
      "He's moving in, yeah."
      • A possible glimpse of why the show can be such a mess
  • Michael asks about the criteria for casting
    • Jet says diverse types of people with an even gender split, then runs down the current fish
    • Then says they wanted atypical people, not normal reality TV contestants and cites a 350 lb "autistic kid" throwing stuff at the walls
    • Michael asks about liability issues with people going crazy and "poop and pee" getting thrown around
      • Sam says he didn't see any liability issues
  • Michael asks if they were worried about Frank getting violent in season 1
    • Sam says he was worried. Jet jokingly says, "You got worried about that? Hahaha!"
Sam retorts, "Yeah. There's a big dude throwing shit around and he tells you he's about to get violent, wouldn't you get worried?"
      Michael wants clarification
"The process was... there was a big dude and he was throwing handfuls of piss and shit and he was saying he was going to break the house, he's gonna punch people in the face, he's gonna get violent... that's a problem. That's scary. I'm about to go do that right now." Sam chuckles.
Michael says, "But you brought him back!"
Sam adds that Frank is interesting and you gotta have "poop and pee thrown around and violence."
      • Another look at Sam and Jet maybe being on separate pages with Frank
  • Michael Malice fell for a fakeout ending from season 1, though he clearly didn't watch it either
    • While explaining it, Jet shares that they had a genuine contractor come in for a quote and that they rented the house on a handshake deal, no actual contract
  • Michael asks about moments they were worried about the show going off the rails
    • Jet says they were worried about it daily
    • Sam says he was worried about the plumbing issues due to costs, the SWATing and when Airsoftfatty spit on Letty. Jet refers to Mauro wanting the cop outside brought in to press charges.
    • Jet refers to season 2 and how the basement flooded and the show has disasters that often have silver linings like every other day
    • Sam refers to Tayleigh punching Trish in the face and how staff had to "beat up a contestant twice."
      • Jet looks at Sam and says "We haven't even had time to talk about that but we had to beat up a contestant to stop a revolt." and laughs it off
        • Another example of Sam and Jet not being in tune
  • Michael asks about Simmons being a pedo in the house
    • Sam jokes that Season 3 will be "Pedo house." Michael Jokes "I think that'll be really easy to cast on the internet."
    • Michael asks for info on how they handled it, Jet says the fans are better at digging info up on the contestants and they just waited for a good moment
    • Michael asks what their reaction was for handling it and says "There must have been a meeting"
      • Jet says "Yeah we just-"
      • Sam interjects, "I don't think it was a meeting, it was probably just a text message saying, 'Hey look Simmons is a pedo.'"
      • Sam says it was funny that he happened to tell Simmons he couldn't wait to kick him off the show a few days prior to the formal kick off, which was an ignorant gag based off of Simmons being a weirdo
  • Michael asks about Sylvia's leaving and if people are malicious after the show
    • Sam says she was good and people were good after the show
    • Jet adds that things cool down after the show and they personally appreciate Sylvia a lot
  • Ben walks up and Sam tells him to go get people to eat peppers or birthday cake or something, then they talk about Ben
    • Jet wants Ben to say hi to the camera and Sam comments on his boxing with TJ
    • Ben says he won his 1st boxing match against a "drunk autistic kid" and Jet laughs, saying "beat his ass!"
      • Seems like Ben maybe isn't as enthusiastic about the victory
  • Michael says it was weird seeing Alex Stein on season 1 and asks if he's a friend
    • Sam says "Oh yeah!" and nods enthusiastically
    • Jet comments that Stein got them Duanye, Charleston White and paid for Dontarius himself
  • Michael asks about journo hit pieces
    • Sam says not really but if it did happen, journos can't do anything worse than what the fans do
    • He adds that the fans are crashing the local government Zoom meetings and calling the mayor a jew
    • Sam talks about their general resiliency
      • Custom website
      • Back end providers can be swapped out probably same day. They like who they have now.
      • Says payment processor can be figured out in a day
      • "Don't build your business on quick sand, I guess."
  • Michael asks where he got his suits
    • Blue Goldstriker suit from https://www.itailor.com/
      • Sam says it's a garbage suit and only looks good because of the crappy cameras
    • Yellow Goldstriker suit presumably also from there but not specified
      • Very uncomfortable suit
  • Jet shares he sleeps "on the ground with dirt" and points to a bed in the background
    • Having issues uploading TBD
  • Michael asks if they could give themselves advice on Day 1 of Fishtank, what would it be
    • Sam says nothing because part of "this whole thing is rolling with the punches" and that "the accidents and the fuck ups are part of what made season 1 interesting and same for season 2."
    • Jet adds that it's a reality show "in the purest sense." He wouldn't change anything from season 1 or season 2 thus far and that he really believes in synchronicity and says "It's like a holy mission and that everything is happening how it should be."
      • This could explain a lot
  • Michael asks about Airsoftfatty, thinking he's a homeless guy they got like Warren (the black guy from season 1)
    • Sam says he's more of a member of the crew and they got in touch with his manager for season 1 to get him on
    • They like him a lot
  • Michael asks Sam how he was as a kid
    • "An ass."
  • Michael asks what advice Sam would give young men
    • Sam goes on about how there are no rituals or traditions for boys to become men. There are no tangible battles to be fought so it is difficult for boys to find these things to go through and overcome
    • A bit later he comments that a worthless man can declare himself a woman and jump up the social hierarchy, no longer being a worthless man but a protected class, and that is a problem
I can't tell if Jet believes what he says or is spouting cope with things like "synchronicity" and people leaving the show socially more well off than they came on. I think he does believe them as it'd explain a lot, but it's such a delusional and lazy mindset I'm surprised Sam doesn't berate him for it off camera. Relying heavily on luck and copium to justify his choices.

You can tell that Sam and Jet don't communicate much about the show in person and are generally not on the same page. Jet seemed unaware that Fatty would be coming as a full time freeloader, for example. Even in season 1, Sam says he doesn't think there was a meeting (meaning there probably wasn't) whereas Jet, lying or just rolling with the conversation, starts to talk about how he thinks there was a Simmons meeting.
It sounds like they don't have meetings to discuss major moments or do an assessment of where things are, that's entirely speculation on my part but it lines up with no meeting for Simmons and Jet's adherence to synchronicity where everything just works out.

Jet's comment about people growing on the show makes no sense to me. It's a blatant lie that the intention of "most challenges" is to bring out the best in anyone.

Jet seems delusional about the show and Sam seems ignorant.

Can someone tell me why Chris is telling Trish a bedtime story? He keeps coughing and wheezing during the story too. Very relaxing for Trish, I'm sure.
Ben told everyone to tell her a bedtime story. Best one gets rewarded.

Edit: Hey never said what the reward was.
2nd edit for my tard-spelling.

Sam is reading Trish a real news story about an electronics store robbery/hostage situation that turns into a murder. It's very graphic. Edit: He's reading from the Wikipedia page "Hi-Fi murders". A TTS came on that said "This is a spoiler for Fishtank S2 Finale" which made them laugh.

Oliver's story seemed like a real folktale from somewhere but I didn't hear the whole thing or recognize it.

Greg's story was the scorpion and fish parable about the scorpion stinging the fish who takes it across the river, but he kind of botched the ending.

Alex Stein's story was a pretty basic retelling of Trish getting selected for the Fishtank and competing, and turned into a short pep talk at the end. He referred to her as "a little Filipina girl" throughout, which added a pretty weird energy to it. After he left, she said she liked his story and that it was better than Chris's.

I missed the first half of Chris's story, but unsurprisingly it didn't make sense.

Edit: For some reason I wrote these in the opposite order of when they happened (Chris went first, Alex second, ect.)

Edit: They have Greg doing cigarette deliveries now. He also gave TJ a Fishtoy pep talk.

That is a horrific story, for those not aware: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi-Fi_murders

On another note, It's clear Trish is going next. I'm guessing Sam will cry during her elimination. He cried over Sylvia and he clearly has much more affection for Trish. I hope it'll be a final 3 finale... if not I expect them to give Shinji a very honorable and graceful exit before the obvious TJ vs. Tayleigh final two.

Earlier during training with TJ/Tay there was a funny moment that stuck with me. Tay threw a hook at Sensei Scott’s suggestion. They were practicing exerting power. Tay goes, “Ow, that kind of hurt my shoulder.” And Scott responded, “Ok, but I’m going to need you to stop complaining.” I wonder if this is the first time these Zoomers have experienced tough love.

I listened to the whole thing on like 2x speed a day or two ago. I find this especially disappointing. I guess it's easy to pin the fuckups on Goran, but either Goran has dirt on sam and is making him fail on purpose, but this is more of the handwavy justification for not doing any homework and then of course a shitshow (literally) results.

I said it in an earlier post but the post in this thread about just watching early seasons of big brother and survivor for what works and what doesn't would go so far.
You can wing it with an A team, but they have wiggers.
*sigh* It's never going to get better fishtankbros.

Sam has had a mission to help creative types make things happen for many years now. It is something he talks about somewhat often in streams and odd places. Discussed in the firing of Don Jolly, as an example.

Sam wants to be this kind of facilitator. For Season 1 he gave jet $250000 to run Hellhouse/Fishtank and it was a success. Sam has done that in smaller ways for years with 1team. I think it is his goal to be support for Jet in running the Fishtank, as much of a mistake as that may be, not taking more control.

yesterday was my favorite day in the tank. The build to the big fight was incredible. Today has been garbage. The endless challenge followed by a lot of nothing.
I was just about to post about how boring it's been today. I've tuned in about a dozen times since getting home from work and it's just been nothing.

The way Jet talks, Fishtank is easily self sufficient so Sam should see how Jet can do on his own. I don't think Jet is learning, I think Jet is leeching.

Chris overstayed his welcome today imo. It was too late to make him the focus of an entire day. At this point if was going to be there he needs to be apart of the house like dumb gay. Not the focus.

Alleged posts from Summer's ko-fi have been posted to /tv/. I have never used ko-fi before, so I have no idea what the UI looks like.

If the wiggers were smart, (and they haven't shown to be so far) there are also cameras in the basement. Hopefully the Fishtank team has the entire Summer encounter on tape so as to circumvent any potential legal issue.
