Because I enjoy challenge and debate, and because I'm terminally optimistic and hold out hope that even the most dogmatic will engage thoughtfully, even when all signs indicate that that's a pipe dream.

I'm always open to learning or acquiring new things to consider, and providing same. Occasionally there is someone with a similar perspective, so I like to parry for awhile, until it's clear that even given all the rope I allow I'm dealing with a complete imbecile. This poster is dogmatic but had some response, so even if he was an asshole about it, I'm more interested in seeing if the ideas have some defensible basis or are just reflexibly positional. If not, no big deal to ne/it's not my formulation of belief that is at stake.

No, because God is the same as ever, not changing with the times, so we can evaluate it no differently than before.

If the Word of God makes such sharp distinctions between men and women and their societal standing/function ...why is it that parables and lessons should apply to everyone, despite only sometimes referring to both men and women, and often referring only to men and using groups/statuses that could only be held by men?

So I really need to point out the million scriptures which make sharp distinctions between the genders? It doesn't mean they're an entirely different species, of course much applies to both, but gender roles and expectations exist. It seems baffling that you're implying otherwise.

I'd also add that unlike the men who sent letters or wrote the various books, Jesus dealt with women very differently than those men. He discussed theology with the woman at the well, despite the fairly shocking unusualness of this and the shock it gave the local men.

I never suggested they were subhumans, or to be treated completely differently in every context. But you seem to be gunning for some radical gender role abolition nonsense which is not Biblical. Just one of several examples:
