I want to add... I am not against UN attention on transgender rights. To the contrary, I LOVE that our orgs are finally engaging with the international community.
But we have a long way to go. We need an international presence comparable to the anti-trans international orgs.

If we don't engage internationally, anti-trans groups like SEGM are going to pull off a coup and take down trans care in multiple countries and flip the WHO, and then it's likely game over for trans care in the United States.
We can't let that happen.

But the international engagement needs to be more than a single stunt in the UN.
It needs to be sustained pressure, conferences, community building, and even organizational support so that we support trans rights globally and raise the standards for everyone.

I once went to a fancy LGBTQ+ event where I was told by a rich cis gay donor, "Oh... those attacks on trans stuff in America is bad. We don't have any problems with that here."
And like.. My dude, you have the UK. You have Dr. Kaltiala in Finland. It's just as bad if not worse.

Anyway. We need our own SEGM, our own Genspect, our own international trans-focused org.
So in many ways, going to the UN is a good first step.
But it mustn't be the last, not by a long shot.
