Gained a lot of notoriety lately. I gave it a shot and I must say, it's pretty meh.

The good:
* Pokemon in 3D
* You get to watch the little critters fight
* Grand open world, movement from Zelda, basebuilding from Fortnite
* Each Pal has a unique ability that you can use in real world

The bad:
* Base building and crafting is mandatory
* Quite grindy
* The AI is atrocious
* Ugly 3D graphics

Haven't played it yet, but I've been enjoying watching Pokémon fans run damage control online. Every gaming news outlet is writing articles about whether or not Nintendo owns the rights to "Animal Combat Organized by Humans: The Video Game Genre".

A friend of mine told me about it earlier. Initially; I had assumed that it was another one of a million disposable trash heap Playskool-Facebook mom tier mobile knockoffs of Pokémon, judging by the name alone lol. That of which I will emphasize - it's an absolutely atrocious name.

I googled it - definitely seems like something at a far grander and passionate scale, and I kind of recall already seeing a screenshot of a grass monkey that looks one of the newer gen starter pokes but with a gun some months ago.

Seems like something with possible shining prospects to my judgement. Just propped it onto my steam wishlist, might consider copping it down the line for whenever I have the money + drive for a lil gaymen.

Steam makes you qualify if the game has AI made stuff in it or not. PalWorld does not actually have any AI made assets in it, it’s just a rumor started on Twitter because some Pals look similar to other Pokemon.

Almost as if they’re based on the exact same animal or something.

Here’s an interview by the creator of the game(it’s in Japanese)

As for grinding aspects and base building and all, it’s literally an ARK style game. That stuff is what the game is about. Plus, you can heavily edit the amount of grinding you have to do in World Settings.

This level of control on world settings for the base game, even before any kind of mods is so based it honestly mogs even other unreal engine survival crafting slop.

Default settings are undeniably designed for a 4 player experience, but its easy to tweak things to be ideal for single player.
And that’s only like half the options too.

I've been following this game for a while. It was in development before AI was easily accessible. I cannot say for certain that AI wasn't involved, but if there IS AI it's probably minimal.

Anyway, for an early access clumsy little beta, it's leagues better than the recent Pokemon games.

Bonus: it's triggering the worst parts of twitter/Tumblr/cohost which is great-- that includes LexyEevee and GlitchedPuppet of the notorious "purplekecleon/floraverse" stuff.

This is Glip, who literally lured minors with pretty Pokemon fan art into her weird Pokemon rape porn blogs. Oh and her husband fucked some of the lured minors (along with his dog). She also fucks dogs/cats.

For those that don't know, here's a trillion page long thread on her.

So this person supposedly has every right to talk about the morality of PalWorld. Lmao.

Funny how she's bitching about the aesthetic being copied yet she used that same exact aesthetic for rape art... that she then exposed minors to.
If these are the kind of people who are against the game, I'm very glad my household bought two copies. I'm sure the success of the early release will make the future development of the game absolutely amazing.

How come Ubisoft doesn't have to disclose then? The landscapes from Valhalla and Mirage are absolutely at least partially generated by AI.

Every one really needs to read post from the creator of the games (its kind of funny with the machine translations). Its sounds like the most in over their heads group of developers and some how through sheer guts they pulled it off. Hell the game didn't even have a budget! They just worked on it till they ran out of money. One of their better developers was a 20 year old who didn't have any video game experience and worked at a 7-11 type store but created gun reloading animations on youtube as a hobby (and was completely self taught). The company ended up hiring 10 people just from twitter. They moved from Unity to Unreal with no one that had any experience in Unreal! Just bonkers shit one after another and yet..... they made it work.

I may wait until it gets out of Early Access, like I do with all those sorts of games.

That said, it's nice to see a parody made by people who actually love what they are riffing on.

I’m going to assume Steam is a lot more loose on their rules for big name AAA studios, but that’s off the top of my head without knowing anything about it. Maybe it’s a more recent rule what with all the AI advancement in the past couple years.
