Mega Rad Gun Thread

PKP with the NPSU night vision optic. Is it silly? Yes. Does it go hard? Yeah.

I posted in the 'autistic purchases' thread, but I figure you guys might dig it too. Picked up a Cimarron Remington 1875 replica chambered in .357 as well as a replica of the 'Hand of God' holster that Russell Crowe's character wore in 3:10 to Yuma sized for a 7.5" barrel. The revolver is a joy to shoot and the leatherwork on the holster is pretty fantastic:

Those big irons shoot real well in magnum calibers. Sometimes weight is a good thing in a gun, and with a proper gun belt to hang it off of the weight just isn't much of an issue at all.
You know an idea I had for a gun is a Volcanic pistol that can fire metallic cartridges instead (sort of like a pistol version of the Henry). It could be chambered in .22 lr or other rimmed cartridges.
They could just take a 1860 henry action and make it a pistol. that'd be the easiest way IMO.

I'm going to say it.

Old school drop in handguard > free float.

I noticed that my gloved up hands burn up less and less residue as well since the drop in handguard contains all the carbon residue unlike the free float handguard that has traces on it.
If you're not slapping lights and lasers on it i don't see the point in a railed hand guard, and the accuracy penalty is not enough to worry about.

Night vision GMPG, spraying 7.62x54r in any lighting. Fantastic.

Speaking of, other than a Mosin, anyone know if they sell 7.62x54r hunting rifles in the west? I know Zaatava sells semi auto DMR's, but I want to know if there's modern bolt actions I can buy in the ruskie 30 cal.

And I guess what are your guys thoughts on 7.62x54r, the oldest mil caliber still in service?

There's always Dragunov variants or the PSL but I don't think I've seen anything else chambered for it.

Don't quote me on it but I think CZ makes a hunting rifle chambered in it and before they were banned Baikal did as well again not 100% certain.

the Dragunov SVU is such an interesting looking gun.

I haven't gotten to shoot a 54r, and despite all my Kalash posting I'm not really that into AK platform weapons. But fuck, I won't lie dude. I'd love to own a PKP or an SVD. The guns that use this cartridge are undeniably fucking cool looking and seem to do pretty well.
If anything, they make for some cool collection pieces at worst.

S&W's new thing is a .44 magnum lever action:

I guess it's neat, but it's nothing new really. Guess it makes sense they went the tacticool route since Browning and Winchester have the high end lever gun market on lock down.

Beretta must've read the comments about 32 ACP because they've refreshed the Bobcat/Tomcat family with the 30X:
I'm a firm believer in the one true caliber but this is just dumb. Why take a gun where the whole point is how compact it is and then make it gigantic with red dots, comps, and extended mags? Just remake the Beretta 70 ya jabronis.

This discussion of Trijicon battery ACOGs comes at an opportune time. I've felt a TA110, their 3.5x35 led model, on order but I'm having second thoughts. Why not just go with an LPVO and benefit from multiple magnification? That being said, the acog will be lighter and probably tougher than what's in my price range. Not sold either way tbh.
