Russia has more distinct ethnic identities than Europe, all of whom can practice their own traditions, speak their own languages, and practice their own religions. Starting to buy more into the vietnam comparisons, iran seems to be flushing them out with fresh equipment every time they lose anything, so there isn't a ton of point in continuing unless we can cut them off or blow up the stockpiles/factories in iran, the latter of which would be a huge escalation.

Invading Yemen won't resolve this issue because it will just result in Iran training new jihadis as fast as the US/UK blows them up. Saudis been trying to do that since 2015. No shortage of a recruiting pool in those parts. Got to go after their support network. Supply routes, smugglers, etc.

Bombing Iran outright (or through a proxy if still trying to pretend to be civilized) may also send the right message, not like they responded the last few times Israel did that.

Iran's internal political situation seems rather fragile right now. Attacks on Iran will force the ayatollah regime to respond in some way as to not seem weak to their local population, dragging them into a possible escalation they cannot survive. Few more escalations and it will be 1979 all over again, but in reverse.
