In-N-Out Burger announced on Sunday the closure of the Oakland location after 18 years, cities “issues of ongoing crime.”

Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick released a statement regarding the closure, “We have made the decision to close our In-N-Out Burger location in Oakland, California, due to ongoing issues with crime. Despite taking repeated steps to create safer conditions, our customers and associates are regularly victimized by car break-ins, property damage, theft, and armed robberies.”

According to Warnick, all of the associates at the Oakland location will have the opportunity to transfer to a nearby In-N-Out location or receive a severance package.

“We are grateful for the local community, which has supported us for over 18 years, and we recognize that this closure negatively impacts our Associates and their families,” said Warnick. “Additionally, this location remains a busy and profitable one for the company, but our top priority must be the safety and wellbeing of our Customers and Associates – we cannot ask them to visit or work in an unsafe environment.”

The location of the In-N-Out is 8300 Oakport Street in Oakland. The last day of business will be March 24.

I live in California and In N Out does so well, that there can be a line of cars going around whole parking lot, and sometimes onto the streets, where you have employees coming to your car to place an order.

I know it's coastal and not in the mountains but I was briefly living in the Eureka/Arcata area about 7-8 years ago but got priced out. Eureka was full of crackheads but with noticeably less blacks than areas further south, and Arcata was full of faggot hipsters but there were still problems on that side of the bay. Don't really want to know the state it's in right now.
The area is lovely otherwise and the people in the mountains were indeed good people. It's a shame it was too expensive back then although all things considered, it was probably for the best and I'm glad I left.

Sounds like what happened close to me.
Without doxing myself, a Popeyes opened and after 2 days was robbed and every car was broken into/had their catalytic converters stolen.
It closed after one year.
And the town it was in was like 90% black.
