For all Sam's cynicism and the general feeling that he'd rather be doing something else, when it comes to the people giving him money, he does his utmost to give them what they want in return. Yeah, his heart's not into a lot of this shit, but he's never phoning it in.

Jet and the wiggers give a self-satisfied middle finger to the audience and then laze about worse than a shitty fast food restaurant's teenage staff does when the manager's away.
Yeah pretty much, as much as Ive been dogging on the season anytime I could think something happened was when Sam or Frank was there. I think he misjudged the competence of his fellow "coworkers"(friends) to be able to come up with things on the spot. Just because Jet had one really decent idea that doesn't really mean he knows how to competently execute it. Not only that sam was the strongest personality of the bunch so he can confidently wrangle the people around him. Not to make sam do all the work but I think if he had like at least a list of like things to do while he was gone things could of still had a pulse. It didn't even need to be challenges just stuff to do. Also handing back some of the confiscated things like Tays croche stuff and TJs paint stuff would probably not help the content but at least would give both of them some willpower when the challenges come up later.

Feels like the show is over already and they've completely given up. Nothing has been happening for few days and yesterday when TTS suggested a Chris bathroom cell challenge to Vance, he just went "well I don't want to watch over them but Greg can run it if he wants". Shows how much respect they have for people who fund the project. Yesterday the cam was mostly on B2 with Vance while farming 5,5$ TTS, which is probably the lowest price so far. Just do the finale niggers.

Season 2 never recovered from how fast people left. Like I enjoyed the show a lot it was fun to watch but losing half the cast in a 2 week span on a show that runs 5 weeks is not something you can come back from.

Something was missing after Brian left. Maybe it was just another competitive contestant. But they lost something more than another body after that. It was a stupidly timed elimination with little foresight.

Not saying production isn't lazy but Vance was clearly playing a character yesterday. He was pretending like every challenge idea was too difficult to run and he had no idea how to do anything. He even broke at one point when they tried to tape a shirt to the speaker and he said "I just feel like we shouldn't have to do this," and started laughing and had to turn around to face the wall. Playing up their laziness and shitty ideas by just ordering fast food, drinking heavily, and refusing to do any work doesn't excuse putting on a shoddy show, but it was definitely for the joke and in my opinion it was really funny.

i was wondering if they were doing a bit. the problem with these types of bits is that they influence peoples opinions, even if its funny. reinforcing the meme that jet is a lazy retard is funny in the short term but harmful in the long term. reinforcing the meme that the fish are boring and lazy is funny in the short term but harmful in the long term. its like the grits problem, while it is funny in theory, jet does not think about the negative consequences of the joke.

edit: its just the classic “i was merely pretending to be retarded” joke. almost never funny and almost always a cope for being retarded.

I distinctly remember the first time I watched Fishtank live and not through the clip channels. It was on day 12, during the infamous smoking/hot-dog/crossfit triathalon. The fact that I only recognize one of the people listed(barely) is an indicator that something went horrifically wrong. I feel like a quarter way into the show is a relatively early point, yet they had already shed off four fish by that time. I can see why they went with ten instead of eight, from an interview I saw with Sam it seemed like they really rushed the casting and were unable to filter out MDE fans that were in on the joke. Apparently next season Sam intends to just bite the bullet and go with professional casting next time around, which I have mixed feelings about.

It's hard not to notice that the other members of production get markedly more lazy the second Daddy Sam is away. Judging by the fact that every time I see Josie she's doing something(holding the camera, making sure TJ doesn't Hendrix himself), I'll bet the other wiggers are making her do 95% of the work. I have this great mental image of her valiantly trying to keep the basement from flooding as the rest of the wiggers tell her "have fun with that" as they move the computers upstairs.

There's also the fact that there's plenty of evidence to suggest they're lazy other than this one little one-off bit. If production was on the ball the whole time, nobody would think twice about a bit where they play the laziest dumbest niggers in existence for a day. It's like Rekeita joking about being an alcoholic, after a certain point it ceases to be a joke and just becomes a naked admission of what you really are.

I believe Greg holds the key to fixing the casting issue. Reality TV usually casts aspiring actors and low level comedians to fill their shows. Theo Von, for example, got his start bouncing around various reality TV shows. A lot of RT is filled with people who have only been extras in television and movies.

With that said this is an internet show. You can apply the same logic but with internet personalities. Duanye and Greg are exactly the types they were looking for. Sam and Jet confirmed it. So next season you fill your roster with 50-80% low level internet types. Youtubers, streamers, wannabe influencers. Bottom of the barrel viewership. Maybe they have a loyal discord or twitter following. You get the idea.

These are all people who crave the spotlight. Most of them are going to cure the motivation issue they've had this season. It's baked into their personality. I think you should get a few edgy internet types. These types would now have a natural enemy.

I made a Tayleigh before and after Sam collage, and a comparison with Manson Family cult member Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme.
I realized after the fact that the Synanon cult made all the women shave their heads so it would have been a better comparison, but the Manson Family is a lot better known in pop culture. The Manson Family women shaved their heads in protest of Manson's conviction. Synanon had on the other hand rules and practices on how they treated their members that were a lot more similar to what Fishtank production does to its contestants.

go back to /tv/ fag, also thumbnail your gay images next time

Megan and JC left so quick I literally can not name a single thing about Megan. I know JC was from Portland and she talked about how she hated weed or something like that. That's about all I remember of her. Megan I could not name a single thing she did. That's how fast people were jumping ship. Even the least memorable people of season 1 I could tell you some basic facts about. Mauro was from New Mexico, pretty gay talking, liked Halo etc. He was still on the show for long enough to have some memes about him made like the morgue

The cast was not the problem this season, even the MDE fan stuff wasn't an issue, the more I go back and look at old clips the more I think the cast is actually the strongest point of the season, it was really Jet's fuckery that destroyed the season and the problems would slowly begin to resolve, only to collapse and deepen even further later on, the hellish content drought right now is manifesting because of Jet twisting the show weeks ago to eliminate Brian and to get Jimmy into a frothing rage that Trish and Britney exploited. I think JC, Megan and Summer could easily be culled without much issue. Losing Cole was a blow and then purging Brian for shock value was a bigger fuckup, losing Jimmy was an absolute catastrophe. Of the remaining fish the only one that is reasonably able to hold a conversation is Tay. TJ still has trouble speaking at a normal pace when he isn't drunk, he still fills a lot of his conversation with filler like "I uhh I uhh you know... I wanted to do that" and Shinji just remains silent most of the day and only becomes willing to sit down and talk at 1am-3am which is still frustrating because he also has trouble talking as he tries to parse the English language, it was impossible to even hear Tay and Shinji talk last night at the bar and the night before because fatty snores so loudly. Part of the show is just having the fish talk to each other and with such a small cast now having strong conversationalist is even more important. Moreover, the total lack of stimulation from the outside word is stifling their ability to have interesting things to talk about, there was a brief moment with Alex Stein where he was discussing stuff that had gone on in the world while they were isolated that had a decent bit of conversation but that died off quick. These are early 20 somethings and they just haven't had enough life experience to fill 42 days of conversation with stories of their life thus far without new experiences to drive it. Maybe that Russian actress that came in for the dating show could pull it off because she seemed to have a rolodex of interesting stories like the Trump tower story with the room that had no furniture in it, but a 22 year old only has a few interesting life events to talk about.

Then we have the content generation issue, Tay is the only one that has effectively been active the past few weeks, Trish in second place solely due to her love-hate relationship with Chris, alternating between fucking Chris over by pouring water on him and bowing to his insane demands like the wedding. TJ was busy painting himself into a corner in the attic all alone and Shinji was just being a silent wallflower. Tay did absolutely amazing work playing the longform challenges presented to her only for Jet to immediately overturn them to save his favored fish from elimination, TJ. Then he went and bragged to the fish about how he was rigging it to eliminate Trish only for Tay to break the rigging and that he organized it a second time. This had a dramatic effect on anyone's willingness to "play" the game any longer, at this point none of the fish feel compelled to do challenges since there is no upside at all, no cash prizes and no long term benefits on their standing on the show.

This content drought would not be so disasterous if we had Cole, Tay, Brian, Jimmy, and Trish as the final crew moving towards the final week rather than weak fish like TJ and Shinji being carried. The cult theme of the show, particularly the attack therapy was a complete fucking disaster for the show because it created production mandated dogpiling on Cole who walked, and then later on Tay, who managed to thrive in spite both the dogpile and Frank at the same time. Any fish who popped their head up and created organic content was dogpiled in attack therapy and suffered greatly for it, leaving most content being driven by production who was extremely lazy, this supressive effect on content cannot be understated.

Also I'm annoyed people keep hyping Greg up for being amazing, but he really is not anything special, he wasn't around for all of the degrading and demoralizing stuff like Danye was, he didn't have to go through weeks of just eating grits and peanut butter, forced vomiting, fist fights, mallets being hurled, or being subjected to Chris' literal insane demands to avoid elimination. He is mostly fresh and he doesn't have any expectations upon him to participate in degrading challenges. Even the most minor bit of hassling by Frank put him into tears, its easy to be entertaining when you're not being mentally crushed for weeks at a time, the D&D game was interesting but it felt like the fish were just going through the motions just to stave off boredom rather than real enjoyment, him being upbeat and happy is a good thing for the show at this stage but the fish are too burned out to really feed off this positive energy, everyone is just looking for the exit so they can wash their hands of this unfortunate experience. I think he was a good acquisition by Sam for the show but the past 5 weeks of crushing the spirits of the fish cannot be corrected at this point.

There was no choice with Jimmy. He repeatedly was physically attacking women half his size and scaring the shit out of them. He was a legal liability. Even in his final fight with TJ he was punching him in the dick and breaking the rules. They had to get rid of him.

Great analysis, I enjoyed reading the entire thing. I also agree that Greg is a mid freeloader. The reason he’s so praised though is because he was a brief drop of water in an otherwise major content drought. If you compared any of Greg’s high moments to the things that happened during the first 10 days they would be ok. But after 15 days of mostly downtime, Greg’s fight with Ben was something to keep people entertained and seemed like content gold. Especially with how fake and forced the Tj boxing matches felt beforehand.

One could easily argue that Jimmy reached his breaking point because of production solely focusing on him. For some reason production doesn’t understand how to take their foot off the gas pedal when it comes to content drivers, and as a result they burn out and do stupid shit that can be seen as a liability. For Jimmy they actively told a small woman to fuck with him knowing full well he was unstable, lacked self control, and almost attacked someone beforehand for not eating bread.

Also, the liability argument kind of goes out the window considering they brought him back after he physically assaulted said woman with a mallet. After that happened most everyone would agree that he had to go, but then they brought him back after knowing he was a liability. Jimmy was eliminated twice, both instances were because of physical assault. The first instance was far worse imo, but production said ‘fuck it’ and brought him back a second time because cahntent.

They brought in two huge black guys to keep him from chimping out my dude. They were there because he is a liability and to stop him if he became one.

While I agree the guy has issues and was going to blow up, you're forgetting/ignoring how his final freakout was entirely down to production not listening to any warning signs and instructing a short female freeloader to fuck with him and him alone all day after production had already spent the entire previous day fucking with him harder than usual. On top of that Jet and Ben either intentionally ignored him going upstairs or were ego tripping and thought nothing would go wrong which led to camera guy Vance being the only one to immediately step in. Production took a guy with confirmed PTSD and actual delusions and went out of their way to make a chimpout occur because gotta milk those clanbux to advance some culture, future fallout be damned.
