Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

A legitimately think I'm able to tolerate so much shit because I don't use social media at all, I'm not in any FCs and I have my chat set so that I can't see shout or piss chat.

More of the same dungeons, trials, mechanics, and braindead content we've had. People hyping up new zones and things like field ops as if that's not something we had before that they actively decided to take away from us (not to mention we'll be lucky to see it in 2025 based on release cycles if I was a betting lass.) Where's the innovation? The creativity? The excitement? The mystery? THE ADVENTURE? In a shot of a generic synthwave album cover shown at FanFest?
It amazes me that there exist people who saw pictomancer and think that's it, Dawntrail is so hyped. I can't fucking wait to play the exact same job but sometimes I'll draw a doodle that deals damage. Not that you'll ever see it because you need to be watching the boss and the ground, not your character. I tried playing with all effects on and it's actually impossible.

I wish I could go full retard and say that because Dawntrail will let me use two dyes we're so fucking back, this game is the hypest shit ever. I have to cancel everything for the next month to binge it. Inject FFXIV directly into my veins. Become unhinged and dangerous. It seems to be the only way to be happy anymore is to be so blind you can't realize you're eating shit.

I'm just waiting on REAL news about Dawntrail. In the meantime, I'm just meandering through Endwalker's Post-Patch
Exactly. So far Dawntrail has failed to wow me in the least. Fuck two dyes or Woke Lamat or whatever, what the fuck are you giving me, Square? This mediocre heap isn't enough to get me to resub. Because writing sure as hell isn't a main draw these days. It is not an understatement to say that post-patch Endwalker MSQ completely killed my faith in them actually threading the needle in writing a good plot moving forward.

It’s funny when people say the FFXIV story isn’t over. It ended. It’s only still going because it’s an MMO. Endwalker was the literal conclusion to the story started in 2013. I have no hope for the future of this game. Look at dawntrail, it’s filler. It’s the equivalent to anime filler.

The only defense I'll give is ShB was filler too, until it wasn't.

That being said, I fully agree. I might give DT a shot, but if there's not a fuckin' amazing hook at the end? I'm done.

Endwalker should've killed/retired our WoL, change my mind.

Endwalker DID technically retire our WoL though. It's just that Yoshida and his writers just went "And now we'll make up new adventures to send you on."

I am a bit concerned with Dawntrail promising so much content.
A new Exploration Zone, Criterion, Deep Dungeon, New Limited Job, The Moon Restoration thing, Ultimates, on top of the ususal formulaic stuff, and anything else I'm forgetting.

Its kinda setting off red flags for me, as this is an unprecedented amount of content for an expansion and they're normally just doing the bare minimum and fucking off. Is SE is in a worse state than they're letting on and they're desperate for the XIV bucks? There's realistically no way this expac is going to outdo Endwalker's hype and sales.

I chocked it up to them feeling bad that EW was so barebones that now they feel like they are obligated to owe so much content after all the complaints they got. You know how the japanese are. If they feel like they let people down, they work extra hard to make up for the disappointment. It's just in their work culture in general. They can get really emotional.

Unlike in the west here, they try to improve themselves and do their best to listen to criticisms while any devs and studios here just instead decide to throw enormous temper tantrums on social media and blame everyone and everything else for why their product is utter shit.

What I like about shadowbringers is that it was dark and edgy, and I love dark and edgy shit. Dawntrail is wholesome uwu adventures into a multicultural melting pot paradise.

I try to remain optimistic. I've had fun for the majority of a decade so far. It's not like I dedicate my life to playing either. I get on when there's content to do, or raid, or when something bites at me and I get the motivation to accomplish it. Like I had a stint with unemployment during ShB, so I actually farmed the EX mounts while they were relevant instead of a whole expansion later when I can just faceroll them. I finished the island stuff ages ago and have more cowries than I know what to do with, so I just load up my favors over one or two days and come back after for my lootboxes.

But I'm also that like, 3% of the playerbase that has done basically everything in the game so I understand that the cow only has so much milk. I understand that I am not the average player. I could go max out a couple more jobs or try to learn an ultimate if I wanted to, but I don't right now. So I go play other stuff. So I still get hyped for patch days.

I just wish PVP wasn't such a miserable experience for almost no reward though.

Despite my shitposting, I really am just apathetic to most things coming our way at this point.

That's probably the worst part about it. I don't care. I'm not excited for it and I don't hate it either. I just don't care.

At least Stormblood made me hate it. At least Shadowbringers sounded like such a return to good old kino that I was excited to come back. At least Endwalker had the hype about this being the "ending" to the story (of an MMO lol) to keep me coming back. At least I liked FF4's stuff enough that I marginally enjoyed the post-patch stuff we got up until now, even if it was a big old nothingburger.

Literally the only thing I have to go on for me to look forward to in Dawntrail is the possibility we might fight Thancred and Urianger in the competition for the throne. That's it.

I would question just how much all of it really stresses the team. They've done two exploration zones already, three criterion dungeons, BLU, 5 ultimates, and everything else is probably just paint by numbers. Obviously there is a lot of work that goes into making even a dungeon or a quest, but other than the moon restoration none of it's new stuff. The new restoration may even be recycled Ishgard for all we know.

The issue that SE is running into is that they have gone for sheer quantity on content rather than a quality of content. You will never be able to outpace your playerbase. No matter how much content you put out, even a brand new expansion, it will all be completed in a day. Deep dungeons feel like you need to constantly grind the boring stuff just to be allowed to attempt pushing floors. Criterion is good but sadly for some reason the community hates it. I think being able to solo it for 90% of the rewards is a mistake. Limited jobs are just dumb, I hate that they exist, I hate that they're making more, and I hate that people think it's a good thing to make jobs that can't be run in content and invalidates the open world more than it already is. Ultimates only cater to a very specific niche audience, which is nice, but doesn't help provide content to most people. Everything else at this point is really just filler. It's more of the same that's easy and unrewarding. It's busy work.

I want to believe that a totally redesigned combat system would revitalize the game and make much of this content valuable again. Either go with something totally new or return to form. We have more classes than most players can reasonably level and yet there is no variety in how the game is played.

My current opinion of DT is I feel like they are blowing their load again. The zones are all over place that you have Aztec land, Wild West land, Plains Indian land and Cyberpunk land. What I'm concerned is how they said they got consultants for research. Research is great but I'm worried that they got a sensitivity reader knowing Sweet Baby exists. And who knows, maybe "multicultural hot pot" is a facade and there's a lot of internal problems.
What I wish they would revisit is the ghosts in Ultima Thule. We are spending all this time and effort to make these fake memories happy but do they live forever? Will they have dreams of wanting to grow beyond their little plot of land? Can they use Dynamis to create children or do they need to come to terms with being the last of their species until they too fade and disappear? Can they even survive beyond the absolute limit of the universe where Dynamis isn't so strong? Either they answer these questions or they will have to find an excuse to introduce new aliens.
It's been a while since I finished them but I thought the Omicrons Jurassic Park'd some of them back to life but in that case, I can't explain the dragons or the Ea.

Since there's some interest in the alien races, lorebook mentions these guys which you didn't hear about unless you do fishing. Wormlike beings that communicate by making ripples in the water who are also math wizards. They equate the number of limbs they have to mean intelligence and come up with math theorems every day and failure to come up with something would cause them to get depressed and die. They met their end when one of their brightest was taken by a Class Four (something with 4 limbs) and fell into collective depression.

For me the story pf ff14 ended in endwalker. You went against a being capable of snuffing out life at will and won through the power of friendship and then you retire. That was for me, then Dawntrail was announced and it feels like the weird beach episode that anime series have. Sure you can argue this is just a vacation for the WoL and he/she cant stay still and just wants to venture forth, but there's objectively no more stakes that could surpass endsinger unless we do multiverse shit(God no)

Personally im thinking of just finishing leveling the classes that im interested and just fucking off until danwtrail drops. Maybe ill get to play FF11 since the heavensturn event made me curious of the game and it would be a nice change of pace.

And WoW's killed off so many of its villains they're on their third or fourth asspull. It comes with the genre.
There are still shit they can pull off. A final conclusion to the dragon arc with their continent. Perhaps a return of Bahamuth.
Garlemald remnants attempting to have a resurgence under an admiral thrawn like character.
There are still several unexplored reflections.
Perhaps an ascian is still alive.
Tataru revealing her plan for world damnation
