The former is a lot more serious than the latter. I don't think it's a surprise that a guy, much less an autistic one, quoted a shock-factor line from a viral video in the middle of a session of private messages in 2010 (following it up by saying what he was quoting). That in itself is not worthy of note 14 years after the fact, and to give full benefit of the doubt, that was earlier in the conversation where he apparently didn't know the girl was underage. The "loli" mentions and conversations with slight but obvious sexual undertones is where it gets a lot sketchier, I just think it's a shame that people can't tell which from which when things get released years later.

Autistic people are often given very limited internet freedom exactly because of the risk that they'll get themselves into trouble in ways like this. With hindsight I think ideally Chugga would have had a closer eye on his posting habits, at least until he was 18, which maybe could have helped preempt or identify this pattern. The most important question to my mind, and maybe there's info I've missed that could hint at an answer for or against, is did he continue the pattern of talking to underage girls? Seems like he's kept the whole foot thing, but I'd hope that as he matured and the age gap grew (even) bigger, he realised that talking to mid-teen kids like this was morally and practically a terrible idea.

That being said, you shouldn't write it with the intention of whiteknighting him; the only person I can remember getting a thread that started majority positive was Rekieta, and that exception was mainly because he was in the sektur with Null (and look at how that turned out.) I dunno, the reason Chugga getting cancelled is such a big deal is that despite being an autistic manchild Nintendo Youtuber, the guy's not really a drama magnet.

Going to be honest, I've been on this website for a few years now and this might be one of the saddest things I've seen. Emile isn't a monster. He didn't pull a ProJared or the Completionist. He wasn't a piece of shit with a prank channel or do anything that landed him a thread on this site like so many others have. He was a guy who loved video games who not only spent hours upon hours researching everything about the game he was playing to share, but he created TRG to play video games with friends, he created Thrown Controllers a game show about video games, he created Runaway Guy Colosseum to not only raise money for charity by playing video games for three days but also to use as an excuse to hang out with friends who share the same love of video games he does.

And yet not a single one of those friends, save one, defended him. For what? Cringe foot role play and a rape joke from 10+ years ago? That shit deserves to be laughed at, not ruin his entire career.

I really hope this isn't the end for Emile. Whether it takes several months or several years hopefully he will return. I know I at least will be waiting.

Real talk though, I'd like to thank pretty much everyone in this thread for having more than two brain cells. You really showed why this site is necessary as I checked a couple of other places and that was a fucking mistake. I know that Null is currently working on gathering funds for the lawsuit right now. I was thinking about donating, but not only am I 100% going to now, I'm going to double what I was planning to give. Yes, that chatlog with Lawley was most definitely a bombshell for everyone but I refuse to believe that everyone in Emile's inner circle, especially Jon, didn't understand that this is how he unfortunately is concerning Masae's and "Emily's" statements. The weird obsession with feet and hyperfixation on shoes, the severe lack of social cues, the slight creepyness around women he's interested in...the whole kit n kaboodle. Part of it did feel like some of their reactions to this controversy were to cut that fat off. For most of them, Emile's annoyance more heavily outweighed his usefulness.

I have no idea how arrangements were set up for The Runaway Guys; if it's only ever been handled over a smoke and a handshake then they're probably just weighing up public opinion on what to do and when, but if they had any kind of contracts written out for things like revenue share, residuals etc. then it might be genuinely difficult to replace him or continue the channel without him.

So much of this drama seems to stem from these people being unable to just sit down and talk to him about whatever they're not happy about like adults, and have instead just waited for public opinion to go against him then retroactively reframed past interactions in the least charitable way possible. It's cowardly and dishonest.
