American High Schools and Presentations - Aka, why do I keep seeing cringe compilations of kids giving embarrassing PowerPoints in school?

There's been something I've seen online for years now, and that is the subgenre of cringe videos involving American high school students doing a presentation and choosing something horrifically embarrassing, and it ends up getting recorded and posted online for everyone to ridicule.
I think the most infamous example of this was the brony manliness presentation.

However, there's a lot category of these videos.

However, as someone who isn't an Amerimutt, I'm always more curious as to why this shit is allowed in the first place. Whenever I ask Americans why the fuck any school would allow kids to do presentations on something with no educational value whatsoever, I always get a non-committal answer. I'vs thought maybe this shit was fake or exaggerated, but I've never had someone deny it. So my question is: are American high schools really like this? Are there really classes that just let you do a PowerPoint presentation on a random topic, opening up the opportunity for a bunch of spergy autists to be ridiculed? What is even the educational value of that?

Modern education is fake and gay. Everyone knows this but we choose to ignore it and subject future generations to it.
Yes. I mean, asking the average Joe why the former diamond of American public education is shit now, is probably not going to yield you any satisfactory answers. They have no idea.
I bet that the American education system is probably atrocious. Not debating that.
What I'm curious about is what the context is for a teacher permitting students to make these kinds of presentations? Is there any educational justification? What subject is this even for, English?
It's just such a culture shock to me.

Teachers are fucking lazy. It's too much effort + counterproductive to educate someone to think for themselves instead of making them blindly believe what's written on the board or prescribed by fake and gay NGO's

I remember leaving private schools to go to a public school during the 10th grade to take AP courses that my small private school didn’t offer and being astonished at how horrific the classes were. Most kids didn’t even know how to read a clock.

Please, please, please send your kids to a private CHRISTIAN school or homeschool. There are so many great educational resources for children (Classical Academic Press, Abeka, Institute for Excellence in Writing, etc). Your child will be braindead otherwise. The goal of American public education is the production of a mindless workforce.

If anyone needs educational resources for your child or yourself or have an interest in the history of education, reach out.

I'm more surprised that the technology hasn't even advanced enough to allow for something less janky and clumsy.

i went to an american HS and i wasn't allowed to just pick a topic for presentation. the few times i did a presentation the subject was selected by the teacher and related to what we were covering in class that week. im really curious what classes these guys are giving those presentations in where they can just select whatever they want.

if i were to be charitable it would be a class where they cover something like debate or persuasive writing. the idea being you select a topic and then have to do a presentation where you convince your classmates that your point is correct using the standard techniques of persuasion. but that is being very charitable.

That reminds me of this video of some kid making a presentation about Kwautchan and the Countwybowsz.

I think the idea behind these off-topic presentations is that someone has to be able to pick a topic that they are interested in, figure out how to explain that topic and then communicate it to an audience. After they do their MLP demonstration the teacher sees that they were not capable of that and has them sorted into special ed where they belong.
I have no clue what school is like now that everyone has been raised on iPads and 1/4 of the class is transitioning.

You're asking the education system to actually pay for better education?

lol, lmao
No, I'm asking for brainiacs to come up with something better than slideshows. I haven't done a PP presentation in over 20 years and seeing them being the same boring shit today is kind of sad.

Nobody actually wants to do a presentation in school, PowerPoint or otherwise.

They're being forced to.

A lot of kids don't really even know what to do when given that kind of assignment. If they have a choice of topic, they will choose something they like, even if its not appropriate or doesn't make sense. Above all else, whatever makes it quick and easy.

When I was faced with this kind of task, I drew blanks for a long time before picking something dumb and doing as little as I could to make it work.

Do also consider that they're kids, and therefore not fully developed. They may also have autism. Especially the ones that were special enough to get recorded and posted to YouTube.
