Waiting for this saga to wrap up since every time I do a write-up on it it gets more unhinged:

Did something happen I don't know about? I've never heard anything about Enter posting on /pol/

Edit/Update: Like I said, every time I think things are wrapping up, Ryan gets more unhinged.

Fuck you're right I'm retarded. Okay expect it in the next couple days (for real this time)

Enter posted a journal (A) giving his thoughts on the Chuggaaconroy situation.
I've debated waiting on writing this journal entry until more information is released. The story is still developing, and as should have been established by now, this rabbit hole keeps growing deeper and deeper and deeper. I don't think that this story is going to have a happy end, no matter which way the wind blows. I've also debated whether I should write this or not at all. I'm still processing many of my own emotions on the situation, but I know that a lot of people will ask me about this on tomorrow's stream. A lot of people did on last week's stream when the allegations weren't so intense.

Because this is DeviantArt and not YouTube, I'm not going to be using any "ad friendly" innuendo or beating around the bush. I will also be talking about things as starkly as I can. So, if any of that makes you uncomfortable, proceed with caution. Also, bear in mind, I'm writing this with quite the headache so if my words are imperfect I apologize.

If you're not aware of what's going on, the let's player Chuggaaconroy has been accused of... a lot. From sexual harassment and pushing boundaries to full on pedophilia. I'm pretty sure at this point that most people at least know the story as it stands. If you are in need of a recap, Gamer from Mars does a pretty good overview of the entire situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NajLH3sm6sE

If you want a synopsis though I'll give you one to the best of my abilities. It started about a week and a half ago, when an editor for Sarah Z known as Lady Emily accused Chuggaaconroy of sexual harassment and trying to engage in foot fetish roleplay with her. For reasons that Gamer from Mars goes deeper into, these allegations were quite controversial. Even with more context added, the allegations didn't seem to move the needle. There were people who stuck on Chuggaaconroy's side, and did their best to poke holes in the allegations. There were also people steadfastly on Lady Emily's side with no hesitation. Considering that these two people have fandoms with little overlap, that's likely where the story would have stayed.

However, in the next few days, MasaeAnela gave a similar accusation. That Chuggaaconroy repeatedly made her feel uncomfortable and pushed boundaries with her, despite being told again and again to stop. For what it's worth, she didn't provide receipts, but most people (me included) believe her on this accusation.

Many of the defenses brought up in the Lady Emily accusation didn't apply here. This accusation wasn't brought up "out of nowhere." It's clear after the Lady Emily accusation broke - where she stated that Chuggaaconroy had this pattern of behavior with several women - Masae, the woman he worked the most with, would have been asked a lot, especially during a large convention (Magfest). Receipts weren't needed because many of the clips of them working together still exist in video, and now have a new context with them. It's behavior that can actually be seen. It's also worth noting that they did live together at one point.

While several others did have accusations that weren't spread as much, I do believe that the Masae allegations were the ones that "shattered the illusion" of who Chuggaaconroy (Emile) was as a person. And then things went from bad to worse. Two major things happened.

We heard from NintendoCapriSun, someone who lives with Chuggaaconroy now, that Emile had been admitted to a hospital with no access to his own phone. A lot of people speculated that this was a suicide attempt; today it was revealed that he was in the hospital for internal bleeding and stomach ulcers, which is speculated to be caused by the stress of the situation. As I write this, Emile is still in the hospital, but I do believe that any hold is to be released tomorrow (Sunday).

After this, another allegation broke and was the most severe one yet. A speedrunner named Werster said that a friend had contact with Chuggaaconroy when she was 15 and he was 19 back during early to mid 2010. The discussions go on for 48 pages and do go into bad places. There are many words that I can use to describe the situation, but the accuser who goes by the username "Lawly" says bad, so we'll go with that.

The things in the chats vary from tasteless "of the time" jokes, like Emile writing "I'M GOING TO RAPE YOU" to the misspelling of Lawly writing "I rape my songs" (I rap my songs); to far more serious and disgusting behaviors, like engaging in the foot/shoe stuff within the texts; to talking directly about pedophilia and using the word "pedocrush." To make it as forward as I can that I am not taking anything out of context, here is the entire document for you to look through: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GpSy_2mM0gP4q4uZSnjtSg0vIAIBtMxe5FL-KM4wk5I/preview

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to talk about the last accusation first, as it is the most serious. First of all, Emile has been in the hospital since this accusation has dropped. He hasn't had a chance to respond to it - either to try and explain himself or to debunk it. And, no matter what someone is accused of, I do believe that every person has the right to defend themselves. There is many situations in which sometimes some accusations are true and some aren't, and it is important to know that being an asshole doesn't automatically mean that someone is a criminal. And being a creep doesn't automatically mean that someone is an illegal creep.

I don't know if Emile can debunk this, but he should at least be given the right to try on that regard. It is something that happens, people can leech onto controversies with things like this. The ProJared situation has become shorthand for this, when the accurate stuff - cheating and running a nudes tumblr got mixed in with accusations of grooming and asking minors for nudes.

For what it's worth, here are my thoughts. There are odd things that some people have pointed out. The document points to a video that proves that this person had contact with Chuggaaconroy, entitled "Lawly is Giygas." Written "as proof of having contact with Emile." I (and several others) have looked for this video. It's either been privated or deleted because it does not exist publicly. While this may have been done for privacy concerns as a lot of other data has been expunged for that reason, this means that it really shouldn't be used as proof for this claim. And also, someone commenting on your YouTube video doesn't in itself prove that you have contact with the person.

And there are also the old standbys that photoshopped screenshots are possible, impersonation is possible, and so on. Chuggaaconroy's discord metadata, such as its date of creation, is publicly known now. And many of the messages are transcriptions, not direct screenshots.

However, there is a lot to suggest that these are real. First of all, Werster. He's not a nobody. He's a speedrunner with over 130,000 subscribers. While it is possible for established content creators to either lie or fall for one, as we've seen with the Completionist scandal, he would have something to lose. Considering this is Chuggaaconroy, someone who had a very high reputation, even after the Lady Emily/Masae allegations, if he were to be lying/duped, it would probably destroy his own career.

If you don't want to take Werster's specific word for it, there's something that stuck out to me in trying to gauge the veracity of these allegations. There is a lot of information. Not personal information, most of that was expunged. Things like computer specifications, links to videos that do and did exist 15 years ago, references to real world events that happened at the time. If any of that was incorrect, I have to imagine that internet sleuths would have figured that out by now. 48 pages of not a single anachronism or flubbed fact (as far as I can tell) is a lot.

To fake these chatlogs entirely, someone would have to be obsessed with "chuggaaconroy lore" and have been since 2010. And they'd have to create all of these fakes within the span of less than two weeks. (Emile's style of speaking during incidents like these was only revealed to the public with Lady Emily's accusations, and it's unlikely that anyone would have tried to fake something like this beforehand).

Someone else was mentioned in the chatlogs, although not by name: the lead of the development team for a Mother 4 fangame, who apparently reached out to Emile to do the official walkthrough and be a beta tester. This is something that can be debunked or verified.

The world in which these are real is a much more likely one than the world where these chatlogs are faked, in my opinion. I am willing to give Emile the opportunity to explain himself and his side of the story, should he choose to do so, because I believe that everyone - especially when it comes to heinous matters like this - should have the opportunity to explain and defend themselves. I don't know if he can, but I'm not psychic and I can't tell the future.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever the case on the Lawly accusation, the MasaeAnela accusation is enough to stick. And for many people it does completely shatter the person that they thought Emile/Chuggaaconroy was. It hurts. A lot. Going through the comments on his latest video/community post, the subreddits for him or the Runaway Guys or Twitter, you can see a ton of grief and devastation.

Some healthier than others. There's a lot of people trying to excuse or justify what he did, which should not be done. No, he's not EDP. No, he's not Cosmodore. It does not mean that what Emile did was justifiable. Yes, it was a different time and talk like that was more acceptable. That limit never went to infinity. Even with the best of possible interpretations - that this was a sick twisted sense of humor - it was still far beyond the line and far past the pail. It's not healthy. It's also not healthy to harass people. It's not those that had allegations that caused this. It is Emile's own repeated pattern of behavior.

How forgivable what Emile did is down to the people his actions have hurt. And how redeemable he is as a person is down to the beholder. But downplaying actions is something I can't abide. He fucked up, and there's no arguing about that one. And it sounds like he's been fucking up for a long time now.

To most people, I understand as much as anyone that this doesn't sound real. Chuggaaconroy hasn't had a controversy to his name in 16 years. He had a brilliant on-stage charisma that came across as friendly without ever seeming "brand-friendly." And he played through a lot of games that a lot of people cared about, and he cared about them heavily. Throughout all of his let's plays he talked a lot about his real life and came across as an incredibly genuine human being.

And his videos were a light to people in dark times. I speak as much for myself as everyone else on that. His videos were incredibly important to me and my own development; not just as a content creator, but as a person. I had been watching his videos since high school, and they were that light to me when my depression first started taking hold. His Majora Mask and Animal Crossing LP's came out at a time when my life was in turmoil and gave me some desperately needed stability. And his high quality production inspired me to want to become a let's player myself, which was the first time I had gotten some direction in my life. Technically speaking, he's given direction to all let's players since he was the first one to be monetized.

And while I hadn't watched a new let's play of his since his EarthBound redo, I get it. I get the feeling. You know, I'm such a dork that when Chuggaaconroy actually followed me on twitter back in like 2014, I kept the email where he did so. I get what this man and his work has done for a lot of people. This whole thing blindsides you. It blindsided me, at least. For most people, he was the one guy. The one guy who just didn't do anything wrong, but couldn't do anything wrong.

Through times when YouTubers and content creators were advertising gambling sites to children, showing dead bodies on camera, or grooming minors, there was this one guy we could say would never be doing anything of any controversy ever. And then controversy came. And it proved that Emile was completely different behind the screen, making much of what he did feel like an outright lie.

In times like this, it's important to remember that content creators are human beings. And human beings are flawed. That's just what we are. Everyone does have some darkness somewhere buried in their being. Not to say that "every good guy on the internet is just hiding their darkness". Some people are just better at fighting their darkness. Emile was good at doing that on screen, but not so much behind the scenes it seems.

I don't think that what was on the screen - the Chuggaaconroy brand if you will - was all a lie. I believe that there was a genuineness that Chuggaaconroy brought to his work. And I believe that that was important to a lot of people. And there's nothing wrong with that, as long as you realize that the human is human. If his content helped you in dark times, there is no reason to feel ashamed of that.

Honestly, at this point, if I cut away everything made by a person who did something terrible or whatever, I'd be staring at a wall. All day.

As surprising as it is, just try to reconcile the fact that with the good does come the bad. Emile's not perfect; even if he presented himself that way on screen. And yes, as unlikely as it seems that he could've been someone entirely alien behind the screen for 10... 14... 16 years, there are people who have kept worse under wraps for far far longer. Bill Cosby was one of the most respected people in showbiz from the 60's until the allegations came out in the 2010's; 50 years.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's interesting. I've seen far lesser accusations than the Lawly stuff completely destroy some brands. This is an area that people tend to wipe their hands off of immediately. But Emile has had such good graces and such a history with people that there are a good number of them who are willing to give him another chance. Emile has done a lot of good over the years, unlike... say the Logan Pauls of the world who had garbage content that benefitted no one, survived the scandal and then went on to allegedly crypto scam people.

And of course there are some people who were happy when they thought that Emile attempted suicide. This is the unfortunate nature of the internet. One thing that I do want to say - don't wish death on people. Even when it comes to heinous shit, it's not helpful.

I don't know if what Emile did do is "redeemable." Obviously, nothing is ever going to be the same ever again. But I, like many others, want him to be better. He says that he's getting help - like actual honest to god help, which is good, but I don't know where this path ends. Once again, I'm not psychic.

Emile also says that he just wants to disappear from the internet. At least for awhile. It might be the best course of action. Once again, I don't know. I'd prefer some kind of explanation or goodbye of some kind beforehand, but that's just me. Maybe just quietly packing things up and leaving is the correct thing to do.

It's one of those great philosophical questions, posed by one of the greatest philosophers of our time - Ness from Undertale "do you believe even the worst person can change? Do you believe that anyone could be a good person, if they just try." Is there a point when someone is too far gone to be forgiven? And what do you do with a person like that? I don't know the answer to that, but to have some kind of seed of hope in the world, I have to believe that anyone no matter their actions or circumstances can try and be better.

If any of this proves anything, it's that we don't know who Emile/Chuggaaconroy really is as a person. Not really. And I don't say this as a judgement. It's just a statement of fact at this point. What he does from here on out will definitely inform us who he really is, much more than a stage persona ever really could.

This has been quite the ramble, I think. And maybe I've gone on too long as usual, but I had a lot of thoughts. I didn't just want to say "my day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable." I hope that the people that Emile has hurt, directly or indirectly, manage to find some peace. And I truly do hope that when all of the dust settles, Emile does find a way to be a better person. Even if that means not coming back to the internet.

No it doesn't. Saved you a watch.

You think Mr enter has the guts to call out the show for promoting teachers grooming students? From what I remember correcty, there is nothing about Dragon snaps characters that implying he is gay or Troon. At most he's feminine but still straight. Until his teacher said otherwise. He hinted the teacher relationship with his students is questionable.

I think someone brought this up a few months ago, but the consensus seemed to be that Enter will probably talk about it. He's a troon sympathizer, but he's not the type of person to partake in the mental gymnastics necessary to argue that this isn't a horrifying mess. He already criticized the show's botched handling of troons in episode 3 (and he did so surprisingly well, I'll add.)

A girl named Ashlyn - who lives with her aunt and uncle - has her life turned into a living hell by her pet unicorn Ashlyn, who adults just see as a stuffed animal. Other fantasy creatures and human rivals do much of the same, and hi-jinks ensue.
...isn't this literally just Fairly OddParents meets Fate Stay Night?

I guess? It's an idea that's built almost entirely on really common tropes, so I wouldn't really call it a ripoff of anything. "A kid has a magical gift her parents are oblivious about" and "these supernatural creatures usually considered good are actually evil/annoying" are both plot devices used by millions of stories, to the point of being post-clichés. So I find it weird that Enter would preemptively call it a ripoff, and even moreso that he'd call it a ripoff of his own work - and a work that actually seems to have very little in common with the premise on top of that. It's a boring read since none of the characters are unique and the comedy boils down to the generic hijinks Enter is known for, but that's about it.

I think my key takeaway from this is that it just confirms my opinion - Enter's work is always better when he isn't trying to be funny. His strength is in developing characters and stories and exploring dark and complex ideas, so when he's working in a genre that actively forgoes that, his work has nothing to offer.

I will admit my previous statement was based entirely on first impression, which was getting to the 'parents don't have any idea and there's other kids with magical partners' detail and immediately thinking of the one Fairly OddParents episode where Timmy discovers the local rich kid has a godparent and things go south from there, with the FSN comparison being the nature of the companions are not to grant wishes but seemingly just do battle or whatever.

Somehow people who hate him enough to make YouTube videos and twitter posts are bigger autistic losers than he is.
Cartoon autists seem to be unironically convinced that Mr. Enter is personally responsible for every single opinion they disagree with, and that he's singlehandedly been responsible for shows getting cancelled or ruined.

I've seen someone claim that Enter is the sole reason why modern cartoons have sad season/series finales. Can't find the tweet now, but I wish I could.

i swear, it's like the basement-dwelling side of the cartoon community wants us to make fun of them. just because you still like childish things doesn't give you the license to act like a brat-turd, peeps!
