An 18-year-old JEE aspirant died by suicide in Rajasthan's Kota on Monday and left a suicide note for her parents stating that she was unable to do JEE. She took the extreme step two days before her examination.

This is the second suicide in Kota in nearly a week and overall this year.

The victim, who was preparing for JEE Mains, hanged herself in the room of her house in the Shiksha Nagri area of Kota. Her examination was scheduled to be held on January 31.

In a suicide note recovered by the police, Niharika called herself "the worst daughter" and said it was "her last option".

"Mom and Dad, I can't do JEE. So, I am committing suicide. I am a loser. I am the reason. I am the worst daughter. Sorry, Mom and Dad. This is the last option," the note read.

On January 23, a student from Uttar Pradesh, who was preparing for NEET through private coaching in Kota, died by suicide.


The student, Mohammad Zaid from Moradabad, was aged 17 or 18. Zaid who was living in a hostel and enrolled in NEET coaching in Kota, was found hanging in his room. No suicide note was found.

Kota, known for its coaching institutes for engineering and medical entrance examinations, saw 29 student suicides in 2023. Authorities are urgently trying to tackle the mental health issues faced by students in the high-pressure academic environment of coaching centres.

I had to google what JEE is.

It's a basic college admittance test, which I suppose is even more autistic than the ones we have here and add to that how India probably has too many candidates compared to what they can realistically give admittance to due to their massive population density.

Maybe it's time we stop selling people the idea that you can only succeed through college.

i counter that by saying if this exam gets indians to kill themselves then we need to encourage more pajeets, not fewer, to take it. total pajeet death.

See, I tend to be suspicious of things that have so many acronyms. The purpose of them arent' for students to learn, but rather to make them take those tests so the tests gain credibility and become the established norm of education. Kinda what the UN does... JKR was softly mocking that with the OWLS and NEWTS.

and yet indians continue to have multiple kids despite that country struggling to handle the people already living there. the entire subcontinent is swarming with more people than it can currently handle and nobody thinks to put the breaks on increasing the population there? they desperately need a south korean or japanese style population decline. and im not jsut saying that because they are pajeets, just in general.

No no in india its go work as a scammer in a call center or go to college, get an IT degree and then go work as a manager and oversee the scammers working at a call center

That said I don't get why she wrote the note in english, tis obvious not her native language so its a weird thing to do. Regardless, the poo flushed itself

I think the bongs have their own byzantine tests you have to pass to get out of highschooler and into university. Kind of like how the "crazy weird wizard money" were just how their coins worked before 1971 (except predecimal English money actually makes sense with the subdivisions, and it had some nice features like making a pound evenly divisible by 3).

The suicide note written in Indiana English is just too much. If its going to your parents wouldn't it be in whatever curryman language you speak at home?
