In lieu of going "live," Polissa posted a single picture of an alleged bill

I wonder if that total amount includes a late fee.

It seems that Sheffield Utilities provides all services (gas, electric and water) which if this is the case would make this a convenient combined bill, but even in that case the total amount is quite high. Even in the dead of summer with water usage at full-blast and constant AC in the house (exotic pets and their damned temperature requirements fml), my own bills are about $100 less per month and no bragging, but while there is no 'family land' here the abode is significantly larger and the yard gets watered twice a week when the heat's raging here in the south. Electric bills while running the AC 24/7 are mildly ridiculous, but it keeps the indoor pets happy and healthy.

That's why payment plans are a thing, or paying a small amount in advance every pay day works for a lot of people. My wiring is shoddy so maintaining savings is difficult for me, but what does work, and work very well are advance payments or payment plans. It's very strange that Polissa doesn't have these options available to her. Maybe she's defaulted on so many bills that providers refuse to give her any kind of leeway.

I agree with DC4L $455 is a lot for one month even if it's all combined utilities. Wonder why she suddenly has to pay for utilities? Meemaw gravy boat slowing down? Wouldn't it be easier to split the cost between the adults in the house? So many questions lol.
I'm just glad she can use her huge windfall (coming any day now!) from that mattress lawsuit and now her upcoming residual checks from her top 40 hit to claw her way out of poverty

Do we know who provided utilities to the previous house? I'm wondering if the total includes at least one unpaid bill from back then. In order to have utilities connected at a new address, most (all?) providers require the outstanding balance plus any late fees to be paid in full. They don't just forget about it. I could see Polissa being the type to believe that moving to a new address is a "fresh start".

I would also expect her to qualify for Alabama Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which is a federally funded program intended to reduce the cost of monthly utilities for people living in poverty. It requires an application, though, and I'm sure Polissa doesn't have the spoons.

I just have some serious reservations. If someone needs help applying for LIHEAP in an emergency, a case worker will help her apply. Plenty of people don't have the mental abilities to utilize an application, but still need and get the help.

She is on family land.

It was wired for electricity/gas before.

I think I'm a pretty trusting person, but I doubt Joh and Polissa put the utilities into their name when they moved in, or that Meemaw and Peepaw had them do it. Maybe I am wrong. If I get some evidence to the contrary, I'll apologize.

Just find it interesting since Muscle Shoals has its own rich recording history, especially back in the 70s.
I can't figure out if she actually understands that Muscle Shoals is a big deal to some people or if she just thinks "famous people record things in record studios and I'm recording something in a record studio, therefore I'm famous". She doesn't strike me as someone that's particularly interested in music history and she really doesn't strike me as a Drive-By Truckers or Isbell kind of gal.

IIRC, she managed to get the electricity turned on at La Casa. I don't know about gas, and we all know about the water. It's possible she hasn't paid a single electric bill at La Casa yet, we haven't seen her try to grift it. Or maybe she decided that it was up to Joh to pay the electric bill, because she's a lazy bitch and spends/spent all her time at Mamaw's anyway.

We're eating good these last few days. Pissa just posted a new TikTok.

To the surprise of no one, Polly didn't record her song. She got anxiety and became too depressed to record. She claims she has auditory processing disorder and that's why her dumbass can't listen to anybody. She gave her studio time to her brother.
She also talks about an incident that happened last summer where a band wanted a 'sexy young woman' to be the eye candy on stage for them and rejected Pissa because fat and it made her feel ugly. Their loss, so she says. :story:

Very disappointing. I wanted to hear her be all smug about how great it was and, hopefully, eventually hear it. One of her more pathetic videos, in my opinion. In some ways even worse than when she speaks about her squalid living conditions.

Her career path? As a musician? Oh Polly... I hope these musical delusions don't distract from her painting. That's your creative forte, Polissa. Pick up a brush!

My favorite line? "After getting sick with acid...from...reflux."

Does La Casa have a propane tank? If so, would getting a refill/exchange for it be counted in that $455? That alone can be a few hundred dollars, but you don’t do it every month. If her gas is on the grid, it’s probably still expensive because iirc it’s a pretty rural area. Either way she’s probably using way more gas than one person should need if she’s actually in La Casa, since the trailer is literally full of holes so to keep it warm she would have to blast the heater at all times. If she’s in the house than it may be Polissa’s responsibility to pay for all the bills while the others pay for food and property tax or whatever. In any case, I’m sure that post omits information that would make her situation seem better.

Additional notes:

She had a nuclear level meltdown two hours after posting her last update video, manifesting in a "huge panic attack, a meltdown, a full insomnia episode, and physical issues arose from the amount of stress [she] was causing herself" [side note: how do you have insomnia right after a panic attack? I've always found myself so drained after one that I found it easy. Super stress = insomnia, yes, but panic attack where you powerfully expunge that stress? No]

She cancelled the trip the morning of due to acid reflux

Refers to Tyler as James. Wonder if Tyler goes by his middle name (which is also his father's name)

Lots of woe is me, "mental illness is cruel" type stuff

This meltdown's triggers included her seeing a local singer named Taylor Grace have an album drop party in Florence. Being at this party made her feel inadequate since she'd have a different career path than this young pretty woman

Polissa will self sabotage if she doesn't know how to do anything, something, and everything

Claims she has auditory processing disorder because she has ADHD. If she's in an enclosed space, she can't hear shit, especially if the person talking is a dude. Oh, but then crowd noises hurt her and--

Since the hotel was crowded, it "triggered" her auditory condition, sending her into the full blown meltdown thirty minutes into the party due to sensory overload. She had to be taken out shortly after the singer started performing

If she goes out in public for longer than 30-45 minutes, she experiences sensory overload

Pledges that she'll try again, because she's been wanting this after twenty years of failure, despite that she self sabotages and experiences "what if brain" until she melts down

More elaboration on last summer: A "sausage party" wanted a young pretty girl on stage, Polissa volunteered and was promptly rejected. They also had actual recording sessions and that triggered Polissa's inferiority complex too. Not that it matters, because they were "shooting their own foot" for being a dick to her

tl;dr: Seven minutes of "mental things is scary"

EDIT: The bill picture blew up by Pissa standards on TikTok. The only two comments she replied to:

She's claiming that running six light bulbs, a fridge and a heater all by herself for a month gave her this bill

Must be why she hurriedly dumped all of her candy at the beginning of the witch walk and proceeded to hurple down the road staring at her phone to stim and block out all of the public and their noises. kek

Lie some more, Pissa. This was so low effort it's sad.

You no doubt live in a house that is much better insulated, with no unwanted holes in it to the outside, and a well-maintained HVAC system that works with a reasonable degree of efficiency. And you're clearly not a comfort-driven retard.

Polissa (and Josh) are in an aged tin can, with holes in the floors and walls. I suspect that either the furnace doesn't work at all, or is inadequate, so heating the place is being done or supplemented with electric space heaters. And since neither of them have a lick of sense, and Polly can't bear any discomfort, they've probably tried to heat too much space, to too high a temperature with them, and not taken any other measures to keep the place warm or reduce electricity costs (hanging heavy drapes or blankets over the windows, putting up plastic film on the outside of the windows, or choosing one room/space within the trailer and designating it the "warm zone").

Space heaters use a lot of energy if they aren't used intelligently, and—well, there you go.

Those options are available to her, but it's not that Polissa can't...

She's also poor enough to be eligible for the federal government's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Plan (LIHEAP), so if she's not on that, she should be (and chances are good she is, and much of this bill is taken care of, so our gorl's lying for sympathy and gimmes).

Residential Service Rate

Electric Usage Charge = 7.614 cents/KWh
TVA Fuel Cost Adjustment = 2.234 cents/KWh
Customer Charge = $27.74
Agreed that she's using space heaters and it was recently pretty chilly in her area.

That said, I find it hard to believe that six light bulbs, a fridge, and ONE space heater would use over 4,000kWh in a month. The lights would be less than a dollar a month and the fridge maybe $25.

So she's either using multiple space heaters or she's actually trying to heat her ancient, holey, uninsulated tin can with whatever heating system it came with, which would definitely account for that sort of bill.

Put on a fucking sweater, Pissa.

Recently, during a real cold spell, I helped a not-too-bright acquaintance solve the mystery of why her (central, forced-air) heat wasn't working very well, and cutting on and off at odd times. It was also costing her a fortune to run for little results.

She had no idea there were filters that needed replacing every 90 days during the winter, while the furnace is running. She had lived in the house for nine years, and never changed them. Those suckers were blaaack when I pulled them out; I don't know the furnace managed to keep chugging along as long as it did under that strain, but it works fine now, according to her.

I've been thinking about this most recent episode of The Lives of Dumb People I Know while contemplating Polissa's heating bill. Can't imagine why. Nah.
