When it comes to practices like voodoo, white saviors like Jerry love to romanticize them as these ancient "ways of knowing" that are tied to ethnic and cultural roots but they're means to material power. These are esoteric beliefs, hidden knowledge. They're not analogous to Christianity at all. The idea that voodoo shamans are hiding the deep wisdom of sacrificing chickens and killing albinos because they don't want white people to make television shows out of them is such a hilariously cartoonish Western progressive view of the non-Western world it makes Jerry look totally unaware of his own biases even as he lectures at all those stupid Western whites who are surrounded by Christianity like fish in water.
