And certain people that I've spoken to say that legally this is something that is against the law. Like, they can't do this, but we've seen republicans do it anyway.
Do any of those retards you've spoken with have a law degree? Because, Tony, the thing about law is that the state decides what the laws are and how to enforce them. This is certainly NOT illegal.
I skimmed through
the Florida statute chapter on drivers license. There doesn't seem to be any mention of legally being able to change anything but the name and address on the license. But there's also no rules that say you can't change things other than names and addresses.
So my guess is back when section
322.08 was established the use of the word "gender" was understood to be a synonym of "sex", because neither word show up in the definitions section, which is probably one of the things those bills aim to change.
Secondly, when it comes to changing sex markers on your license this became a matter of "well the law doesn't say we
can't, so I guess we can" at the dmv. Apparently now they've decided that changes to the sex marker have caused enough problems to be addressed via statutory law.
I can see several legitimate problems that could be caused by false sex markers. If a person is unconscious and injured the hospital will, in part, base medical decisions on the ID. If the marker says F they will, at a minimum, run a pregnancy test. If the F in question is a male, a pregnancy test is both a waste of time and money. It also causes delays in treatment, such as abdominal xrays or CT scans.
If a M is arrested for being drunk and disorderly and is really a female, then that affects who can legally search her and where in the station she can be locked up. If a female is put in a cage with equally drunk or otherwise criminal men, there's a possibility of rape, which the city would be liable for. If a man searches her, that could be considered sexual assault, again something the city is liable for.
Those are the biggest issues I can see here, and I'm in no way a lawyer. If trannies are who they say they are inside, then external validation isn't needed. The only people who look at your drivers license are people who need it for official business. These people don't give a fuck about what's on it, they just want to do their job and move on the next person. You're not going to be hate crimed by a person just doing their job, because that would lose them their job and no one wants that. At worst you'll be called sir, which is not a crime or even meant to be mean. Most of the time these days they don't even look at the license, just run it through an ocr scanner.
This is certainly not the worst thing ever, Chicken Little.
