And I must say again, all thing considered and given Tommy's short fused nature, he was very patient with Lance, even asking him to take some days off to clear his head when he started to throw a tantrum on the phone. Really goes to show how Tommy really had faith Lance was a good second in command that was simply going through a bad phase.
Any other mob boss would've demoted or clipped Lance after that bar encounter.

Still, you can't help but love the guy in VCS because of his comic relief and cheesy one-liners.

Tommy was a good boss all things considered, all he required from members was loyalty and general efficiency. Very old school mob rules, ruthless enough so that your enemies fear you and your allies respect you...and think twice before planning something behind your back. He really was the first Rockstar protagonist to not be a pushed around wherever other characters led the plot like Claude Speed (even if I love Claude, he was just following orders to a T, and nothing else, minus the revenge part), he still took orders when it made sense for him to do so to achieve his own personal goal but Diaz, Tommy takes the initiate far more frequently (the cutscenes usually introduced a problem, Tommy and crew discuss it, he usually is the one to come up with a solution or take the initiative towards it and off he goes).

I would say C.J was a downgrade as he is mostly following orders again but I think it works on the basis that he is usually being forced to either by Tenpenny or by wanting to prove himself to his family, gang or possible ally. It does help he is a more human lead with a more entertaining side than Tommy.

Indeed.

"This is the Lance Vance Dance!"

That was the first dance from Lance Vance. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I think Claude knew his place as a hired goon. Think about it, somebody menacing that will just do whatever you tell him to without a word isn't somebody I'd try to go against. No personal attachment to anything but the job. The GTA 3 manual even confirms this.

Claude is difficult to read because he really didnt have a established character but what IS shown about him is that his only ambitions are money and revenge. He doesnt even seem to seek out power and position. He just really seems to enjoy the danger and action. He gets paid and you better make sure he is dead if you turn on him because he WILL come for you sooner or later as Salvatore and Catharina learned the hard way.

Kind of reminds me of Anton Chigurh a bit, at least on the aspect of both being menacing figures who take orders, get paid and you better not be on his list because they WILL get you.

And unlite Anton, Claude isnt likely to sit down and have a slightly pretentious conversation over fate, faith or codes or anything. He will just kill you without a word.

Theory I just made up: the reason Claude cannot talk is because Catalina shot his voice box.

CJ certainly has the most agency out of all the 3D era protagonists. Toni is basically what you're describing.

Ive read there’s some setting to disable games from running at 60fps on the Series X that’s supposed to help with this but I haven’t gotten far enough in the game for it to be an issue yet.
You're talking about this. FPS Boost and Auto HDR. I checked; that's not a feature with GTA IV. I did test out Corner Kids; if you're playing on Xbox Series S|X, after your friend plants the bomb, shove or attack him, that should trigger the wall to explode.

@The Last Stand how about she just choked him too hard during some rough sex the night before the race?
Good enough for me.

Beta Claude looks more menacing than DE Claude. I actually like the cartoony graphics from beta.

What could've been:

I know GTA: SA, GTA VCS, and the IV episodes featured "gang wars" in a sense. I did not mind them. Unlikely that they would come back in VI, they're not part of a gang as far as I can tell.

GTA 4 is one of those games where you NEED to download some shit to make it better to play on modern hardware (also bringing the music songs back because most updates for it these days simply remove music tracks from it because their licenses expired and Rockstar doesnt have money to renew them, obviously)
Mockstar tried hard to make the steam versions unmoddable (among other things). IV has to be downgraded and cracked, III and VC require either alternate mods or retail versions, SA, mods only worked on retail. I think even 1 & 2 have problems with the widescreen and addon patches with their steam release.

I wonder why companies do this. I know the "official PR answer" is probably something related to piracy or their assets being used without permission (even IF its something absolutely free). But Im very sure the answer might be some level of spite that their fans are having fun with their own content and altering their games to make it easier to play.

This IS the same company that removed the steam versions of GTA and replaced them with the D.E version and only returned them after an intense backlash...tho only on their own launcher. You cant pretend that there wasnt a level of spite in there towards the community.

There's gotta be something more as well, be it retardation, greed, asserting dominance or whatever it is that made Take2, sue Remedy, who's working with Rockstar on Max Payne remakes, over the so called similarity of their R logo!

Rockstar Protagonist Syndrome: When you have a main character who has a weird and out of place modern progressive streak in an otherwise completely coldblooded pragmatic personality. Ie they have no problem slaughtering tons of people who merely get in the way but are supportive of women's rights.

Let me guess: Arthur Morgan?
I'm gonna be honest: him being anti-hegenetics makes more sense than women rights supporter, but in either way the interactions in the camp proves that.

Niko Bellic is another example: Game portrays him as a cold blooded man of few words, comes from fighting wars in the sticks from other side of the world... And then out of nowhere he throws out an entire speech on homophobia and how wrong it is. The writers must've remembered what character they were writing by the end of it, as Niko goes something like "Shit, i don't usually talk this much" before shutting up.

Was Arthur Morgan really supportive of womens rights, or just dealing with that shit so he could talk to the...Braithewait girl?

It's been 5 years since I've played Red Dead Redemption 2, so maybe I'm just not remembering it right. But he struck me more as just not giving a shit than being a male feminist or anything.

Now his reaction to the slave guy, on the other hand...

The most annoying thing to me about Arthur Morgan is that despite speaking with the thicket possible Texan/Anglo-Louisianan drawl he also has a hate-on for Southerners. But that may just as well be them giving him a Hollywood Western/Country accent with no thought put into it.

Especially given how much Slavs hate gays.

Especially when you read the journal it is clear that Morgan holds a very dim view (copied from Dutch, obviously) towards Scarlett Meadows.

Nico, Arthur, Trevor. Never knew mass murdering psychopaths cared so much about the arc of history.
