Gamergate was an actual movement for a while that contained a bunch of strong personalities who eventually declared war on each other.
Comicsgate is the story of one guy, his paranoia and his endless efforts to avoid having to work making comic books.
Gamergate had actual enemies and political opponents who it fought with for a while.
Comicsgate has always fought with itself since the start. All but one of the people who founded it were eventually outed as backstabbing traitors to Ethan Van Sciver. (Yes Jon Malin - you are all that is left).
The name "gamergate" referred to an actual scandal in gaming.
The name "comicsgate" means nothing.
Gamergate lasted a far shorter period of time than Comicsgate has.
Comicsgate's greatest moment of crisis involved an alleged attack on a mailbox (TUG's mailbox).

Watched trashcast just the part about the dungeoner files. The Kelsey stuff was a big nothing. Guy doesn’t want to stream with evs Shane and malin, so what. Only other thing Evs said I found interesting is that it was his idea to bring crowdfunding to CG not ya boi Zack. Even tho Zack did crowdfunded comics before making his YouTube channel.

Eh they can be considered high art (hate wearing the name out, but Berserk and Vagabond come to mind as comics that one could consider high art).
But those are like the great meals served at one of the better, more high-end restaurants in town. What the CG fags want, is essentially a new dive bar because the old dive bar they used to like is now under new ownership that they don't like.

Speaking of Berserk, I heard someone say Malin bought the 1st volume of Berserk. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't say it's shit.
1 - because he hates Irene (Berserk is Irene's favorite manga).
2 - because his fat Supreme Leader said Berserk is dogshit (he's always trashing manga).
But who knows, maybe Jon will surprise everyone.
One of the reasons I enjoy watching the streams with Kelsey, Lopresti and David Williams is that they talk about good art all the time, including Manga. They have no problem at all with manga. They seem to love it, especially Kelsey.
On the other hand, the sexually frustrated prude CG retards always talk shit about manga.
We can't forget the huge meltdown EVS had because Kamen America became more popular than cyberfrog... he spent days crying about it. Kinda similar to the Rippaverse situation, actually...
Although Kamen America is much better than Isom (for now, at least)...

Agreed regarding comics being ‘high art’ - as someone who slavishly followed both Transformers UK and US (G1) for the whole of their runs as a kid, looking back, across 7 years, the only artists who IMHO nailed the look of the robots were William Johnson, Barry Kitson and Geoff Senior. The first two only did a handful of issues each, while the latter came late to the US run. Lots of mediocre artists made up the rank and file of the comics (and before anyone asks, I don’t like Andrew Wildman’s ‘men in robot suits’ style’).
And of all the covers of the Transformers US run - some of which were striking - the only one I would consider ‘high art’ is the cover for Transformers #5.
Despite all this, I loved the stories and some of the UK run had the best stories I ever read in comics (Perchance to Dream, Dinobot Hunt, Time Wars). But only a tiny fraction of the comics or covers could ever be called ‘high art’.

Kamen America is written by mark pelligrini (who also was involved with red rooster early on) who Ethan also dislikes if I remember right it started because mark liked a tweet critical of EVS. EVS recently praised kamen America begrudgingly. EVS’ narcissism is well-documented, but when you stop to think about such throwaway interactions like this, and the sheer number of such incidents, it is truly remarkable how fucking petty the oversized manchild really is.
It makes me laugh when viewers on his streams point out the bridge-burning and severed tie shitlists; Ethan genuinely seems (to me at least) bemused as to how it is the fault of all these people he has feuded or fallen out with, never being self-aware of his own personality defects even once.
Even more stupefying is how many of his loyal followers believe it is always the other party to blame.

Hahaa! The Rippaverse is massively retarded, but therein lies the burn: Oswald Bates beat a comic book pro at his own game in his own house twice on Sunday. He exposed the cosmic laziness and faggotry that have come to represent Sciververse. Rippa punched him so hard in the gut, it made Sciverfrog throw up Mark S Miller all over again like Cell started throwing up the Androids. It's awesome, but it still won't ever cause me to buy an Isom comic. The limits of Eric's talent are obvious whereas the limits of Sciverfrog's abilities are self-imposed.

Not quite.
It did very well, sure, but no singular issue sold more than Cyberfrog. That allowed EVS the cope that Lim and Pelligrini aren't on his level, and nobody is unless and until they best him in sales.
The reason EVS is having an epic meltdown over July is because ISOM did beat Cyberfrog in sales.
EVS set the rules.
July rose to them.
Now EVS is going insane.
I agree, and I own several copies of KA, but I also understand that the cutesy manga style isn't everybody's cup of tea. Ethan probably gets a pass in his criticism of KA's art because it's kinda hard to declare somebody "wrong" when it comes to a subjective opinion on art. He's also hardly the only person who dislikes the manga style.
Where he royally fucked up is going on to establish an objective standard on what it would take to best him.

Everyone has seen this one cropped page of Captain Marvel for fucking years now. It's not proof all comics are bad. Using it is a sign you are a CG fag who doesn't know comics at all. It's the visual equivalent of "your just jealous" or "we want great stories" I mentioned last time.
