Read again. Fill in the 'recipient'--not the sender. Make it out to Hardin so that only Hardin's firm can cash it. It will function almost like a cheque at that point.

Other people have mentioned prepaid cards going though, that may be an option if you want to try again without having anything directly on your bank statement.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I am currently away from home visiting family in a more rural area, so that complicates things a bit.

Also, this is not intended as a brag, but the intended amount is one that makes splitting across maxed-out pre-pay cards annoying.
