I understand that Ty fucked up the lawsuit, but isn't the point of an appeal that you get a different judge to look at it again? Why is it still Chupp?
This may shock you, but an appeal, even if you win it, almost always goes back to the very same judge who fucked the case up in the first place.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the best thing for Vic to have done here was. A bunch of Z-tier voice actors doing dub work for anime wanted their own hashtag-metoo movement, which was the style at the time. Vic drew the short straw. I honestly think getting good legal and PR representation was a good idea, but if you don't know any good lawyers it's hard to find one. Vic listened to what he thought was sincere advice from who he thought was a friend.

From our perspective, it seems like this should have been an easy win for Vic, because we can easily see the malice and mendacity of the people trying to ruin him. However, since then I've learned that similar stuff happened to John Lasseter and his entire team at Disney, which has ended up costing Disney quite a lot of money. It's happened other places in Hollywood too. Even so, the people who did that to Lasseter still have their jobs, even though he was lucky enough to end up working over at Skydance. This whole mess in entertainment goes beyond Vic, and will be looked back on the way the Hollywood Blacklists were someday, I think. The anime dub industry is Hollywood adjacent, so I suspect when Hollywood gets cancer, they get cancer too.

Still, I think Marchi and Rial are losers, and that they don't have a bright future ahead. I think the Japanese media landscape in the West is changing and that they are going to be left behind.

I assume the courts just never give a fuck about whether Vic has a case or not in the first place. Hindsight is 20/20 but he'd have been better off just calling them liars on Twitter and leaving it at that.

Fuck Rekieta and Ty, can't wait for both of them to absolve themselves of even more responsibility for this than before. Completely destroyed this guy purely for the sake of the grift, which I fell for, and worse yet Vic fell for. Rial and Marchie fucked his career, but his council drove him and any chance of regaining credibility into the dirt.
Always, always follow the collective wisdom to hate lawyers.
