MORGANTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A fire extinguisher found damaged at a historic courthouse led law enforcement to arrest a Morganton man for his role in the act.
On Feb. 2, officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety were dispatched to the Historic Burke County Courthouse on East Union Street for a vandalism call. Upon arrival, they allegedly located 27-year-old Joshua Daniel Sanders, of Morganton, in the area.
Upon interviewing Sanders and reviewing surveillance footage, officers say they determined that Sanders had broken into and damaged a fire extinguisher housing unit. Sanders then proceeded to willfully misuse and discharge the extinguisher into the grounds of Courthouse Square.
Officers also determined the device had to be taken out of service due to the damage. Sanders was arrested and charged with molesting a fire extinguisher system
Sanders did not receive a bond due to North Carolina’s new pretrial integrity act, which requires judges, not magistrates, to set the conditions for pretrial release for certain violent offenders. His first court appearance is set for March 25.

This is what he looks like.

I wonder if Jack Thaddeus trolled this guy into humping the fire extinguisher as well.

So many bold assumptions being made in this article - why isn’t anyone talking about the fire extinguisher’s role in this?

Maybe it was wearing something provocative? Heck, I dare say it may have been asking for it?

This man definitely seems capable enough to be making rationale decisions, so give him a break *sigh*

charged with molesting a fire extinguisher system
The phrasing of the charge makes this sound so weirdly specific and ridiculous, but it sounds like "molesting" here just means he violated/vandalized it. I don't think he did anything sexual with it, at least not that I can tell.
This looks like the actual statue they're charging him under, the word "molest" is actually in there, but contextually it sounds like it just means "messing with": https://www.ncleg.net/enactedlegislation/statutes/pdf/bysection/chapter_14/gs_14-286.pdf

Gotta love the legacy wording of 19th century laws......

"Catastrophe"

"Misadventure"

"Come to grief"

That is a face that screams, "WHAT?! I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMURICA!!"

So..... he pulled a real life joe jack from king of the hill only he got freaky with a fire extinguisher instead of a propane tank?
