I feel like there's an echo chamber of people who live in a fake reality who don't understand anything that is going on. Then there's those of us outside it where we are taunted with how fucking absurd everything is. Where there's a point of rubbing it in our faces to make us go crazy by how insane everything is.
You're 100% correct. I suspect reddit is a large contributor to it at this point, Twitter still is slightly part of the problem too even if musk has dialed it back a notch or two.
But yeah, this modern shit has costed me two friends along the line starting with the first in 2014 or so when I was in real deep with the left and I didn't really even realize it. Anyway got angry at him about border stuff calling him a monster / racist / stupid all the stuff you expect and I'm not afraid to admit I'm ashamed by it, dude is a bit of a dick / idiot but I was unhinged due to hanging out on Something Awful even if I wasn't a fan of D&D / CSPAM cause on some level even then I knew they were pretty much responsible for changing the culture of the site into something akin to proto-call out culture. Helldump and all that. So anyway that was one of them moments I think might have been a turning point of sorts for me.
I stumbled into here right as Trump was getting inaugurated and was honestly scared of him at that time, but after starting to see what had happened to SA and then hearing others complain of similar stuff happening in their communities I sorta realized it didn't seem all that organic.
Recently I lost one for basically acting like I did back in 2014, I've kinda mention them once or twice but I think things are over. I'm tired of the insults / shitty jokes when I don't do that shit to them even if I think their shit is retarded.
Anywho, after actually being allowed to ask questions / see articles I'd never seen with links to fairly good proof (normally like official govt documents that are buried or stuff out of research journals along w/ former employees of places and such) I came around to seeing the problems too, and becoming concerned why a lot of places don't allow you to show these things / shun freak out when you do.
Figure it ties into the Smith-Mundt Act stuff / countering Occupy Wallstreet from happening again, but I'm not sure.
Cause that's when the media / govt starts pushing a lot of the weird stuff we see now that has gotten everybody on the verge of civil war. It's almost like that's what they want to happen at this point and it's definitely gotten me on edge, I'm not too optimistic it can be avoided anymore.
