Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Plus, it's an FPS

You're paying to look at a pair of hands, some voice lines, and the "privilege" to look at their actual model for a single second if you do a takedown.
At least in WWII, you had the Destiny inspired Headquarters in Normandy Beach. You could SEE your character in third person.

I like how in Cold War the maps had intros that were in third person so you could see your character entering the map.

MWIII doesn't even have the FPV intros I think. Or for some reason the game has been skipping them for me.

I miss third person modes in Call of Duty. It was unique to mix it up. I think MW2 started it, but never returned.

Third Person was a semi-selling point of MW22, it was one of the main modes you could choose, but after awhile they just removed it because nobody played it. Third Person is still available in MWIII as a multiplayer modifier but there's no actual modes that truly support it, you can also toggle third/first person in MWIII Zombies and MW22 Spec Ops.

sort of crazy how despite the studios going all in on warzone no one here seems to play it.
Eh… I’m a Warzone enjoyer!

Yeah Verdansk was better and sure, the new Warzone has issues.

But on the other hand, it’s hella addicting and has cool game modes besides BR.

It’s free and I get plenty of enjoyment from it.

I've not enjoyed a CoD game after Ghosts
CoD has passed the Golden Age (MW1-BO2) and has never recovered from it. Now it is degrading even more than 10 years ago.

My first taste was with CoD3 and WaW and those two were the start of the golden age of CoD

Is it worth getting CoD MW Remastered on PC these days?

I bought it years ago because I had an itch to play the multiplayer and coped about playing a remastered campaign. Never got far in the campaign and the multiplayer was full of the same old boomers on the most terrible p2p network connection that it wasn't even worth trying. The match making system wasn't reliable so you had to use steam friends to join their match. I felt like I wasted $30 by the end of it. The original game is going be more rewarding to play since there are still active multiplayer servers.

Save your money, Microsoft doesn't need any incentive to continue Activision's shitty business practices.

I forgot that the multiplayer was P2P. I guess I will keep my money. Thanks.

I still don't quite get why after more than a decade of constantly improving internet, MP games feel worse now. I played COD4 endlessly when it was out. I don't recall constantly thinking the netcode was all bullshit.

I mean, I have enjoyed a few of the more recent COD games like Infinite Warfare and MW2019.

It is however a shame to see just how badly Activision has screwed the series over time and time again.

Same here, actually; WaW was my favorite. I kept my old PS3 just for that one, actually.

Cold war was sick and despite that one sniper being super OP, the theme and presentation was extremely high quality. Really had a great time with the campaign. Need more 70s themed games instead of the 1950s Bioshock and Fallout bullshit that's run it's course.

Kinda wondering if I should give BO3 and Black Ops Cold War another go. I mean, I tried them both out a while back, but neither of them really felt all that great to me, personally. I admit, I mostly focused on the Multiplayer mode of each; Campaign I mostly left by the wayside, while Zombies ended up being something of a side-activity.

Thing is, the multiplayer modes of both games felt crammed full of sweats; yeah, the games are a bit old at this point, but neither of them really felt like games you could sit down and grab a pint while playing. BO3 was crammed fun of high-level lobbies flying around and using the Olympia or Brecci, which made experimentation a bit rough. Meanwhile, Cold War's gunplay just felt a bit... off, compared to other games; really don't know how to explain it, but something about the gunplay just felt weird compared to other games in the series, and it kept messing me up.

Meanwhile, the Zombies mode in both games didn't feel all that fun, either. Admittedly, part of it was honestly probably just me getting way too burnt out on Zombies from the BO2 days - I spent so long doing nothing more than playing MotD, Origins, Buried, even Tranzit - but BO3 and Cold War just failed to capture my interest in the same way BO2 did. Granted, I only ever played the base maps; I was hesitant on picking up the DLC for BO3 in case I didn't like it, and I admittedly just never got around to giving Cold War's other maps a try due to a number of factors.

I dunno. Anyone have any suggestions, advice to give? Should I give one - or both - of the games another go?

dunno, if it's boring or shit, why spend more time on it? competitive is what it is, especially these days where everyone tries to be LE MLG or LE STREAMER. the best way to get that fix is come in early till the game inevitably turns to shit, or pick one where the design kinda prevents that (like battlefield, which comes with it's own issues tho).

cod zombies was always meh imho, since the formula didn't really develop besides "shoot the same zombies for longer" - can be fun for a bit, even when trying to get some cheevos, but not for fucking years. if you just want something co-op there are way better alternatives these days to keep you busy like zombie army 4

I remember playing a lot of WaW on my old PS3 model until it was sadly stolen. I did end up playing it on one of its newer models and it still ages like fine wine. Definitely one of my top three favorite CoD games
