Why do Americans wear shoes in their house?

Don't you see how disgusting it is to drag dirt from outside into your house? Is it because your floors are so dirty from wearing shoes inside that you don't want to walk on them barefoot? When will you become civilized and take your shoes off and put on some nice warm wool socks instead? Filthy!

Solution
It's because they're too fat and lazy to put on/take off their shoes more than once a day. I'm surprised they haven't invented an appliance to do it for them.
Americans walk out of their home across their nice paved driveway to their car, then walk from their car across the nice clean asphalt parking lot of a Walmart, through Walmart whose linoleum floors are so clean you can eat off them, there they buy their processed cheese and shit themselves until it is time to return home via the same route.

Americans don't require shoes the same way europoors do.

Do moon people not use doormats? My shoes are always clean enough for the floor. Granted I dont eat and sleep there.
There is no way your doormats remove any of the filth from your shoes except for maybe rough dirt and sand. What if you have kids that crawl on your floors and then stick their fingers in their mouth?!

I wear slippers. I wash them periodically and frequently clean the bottoms with OxiClean foam. I don't want holes in my stockings or end up stepping on something sharp. Also my kitten bites toes. My room is a no shoe zone. But if I'm coming into the house or taking the dog out I am wearing shoes briefly in the house. It's ok. I'm mopping a lot.
