Most autistic thing you've purchased lately - c'mon feel the cringe

The most autistic things i've ever bought are the flipper zero, steam deck oled, an extra nintendo switch to hack for single player games and use the original one for online games with friends (i think its autistic to buy 2 consoles for such a reason).
Personally I don't think there's such thing as too many consoles, or else I'd be a Hypocrite for owning one of ech from 8th gen

A new-ish 980Ti for $5 because I tried to load the new Dead Space on my 15 year old AMD Radeon R9 290, and the game shit itself and crashed when I set quality to medium.
Also, like $300 in parts to fix up a Seiko 6139-6012 because it's my dream watch and the parts one I bought was completely destroyed, rusted, and shredded. With the like $500 total I spent on it, I could have bought one pre-serviced and in perfect condition, but I'm a stubborn faggot and wanted to do it myself. Plus side though, it's all done and completely refinished. Looks like a million bucks and will run for another 20 years before I need to open it up and service it again. Restored and even improved the stock water resistance. Felt good to finally scratch my initials and the service date inside the caseback, close it up, and know I don't have to fuck with it again for a long while.

I've got a bunch of other, more expensive watches I've fixed, but this one is my favorite. The kids'll have to fight over who gets it when I croak.

Ohhh excellent Seiko, their old 6139 chronographs were and remain timeless classics.

Also, I remember when the 980Ti was the HOTTEST GPU on the market. Getting one for $5 is nuts.

I wouldn't call it too autistic. I have 3 PSPs. One's jailbroken for Roms on the go. One I've had for a decade plus. The 3rd I picked up for a steal from a former coworker so my room mate and I could Ad-Hoc Final Fantasy Tactics.
Also have a jailbroken original Xbox for that's packed with 1000s of roms spanning from Atari to N64.
So it's sort of the same thing.

I like buying vintage family photos from the 20th century. My mom makes fun of me for it but there’s a lot of family photos that are actually pretty good.

Here’s a couple from my most recent excursion

I was collecting vintage timepieces for a while, and a few more modern quartz models. I do have an excellent automatic collection from high-end Omega to moderate-end Bulova that's pretty autistic.

Did pick up a Seiko reissue of Giugiaro's ALIENS design and a Seiko Flightmaster from the 90's. Not a member of the Seiko cult but they're pretty awesome.

Whoa, that's pretty autistic. Not you, but the dude who collated them. There's always people who do this, though, marshalling their autism into something notable or in order to get a job from the Federal Government, like collating U-Boat numbers from the First and Second World Wars, or collecting military aircraft designators in order to match up against aircraft accident reports. They never do get the jobs, though, and the military history departments just cross-references their (free) work.

It's always amusing when these people are, like, from Sweden or Norway, too.

I also like to buy old photographs! However, most of mine are from around the 70s-80s and consists of family photos, pictures of friends hanging out, some with their bf/gf, etc. It's sad to see them discarded and unwanted so I like to "save" them and add to my photo collection.

I usually find it harder to find photos from that era (probably for the best). Glad I’m not the only one that sounds, really cool!

Went to the huge local flea market I mentioned some time ago.
Was tempted by some old portable consoles, they had 3DSs, PSPs and Vitas. Not the right time to buy them but I may pull the trigger on at least a big 3DS at some point in the future (I have an OG, which is small and kinda affected by the wear and tear by now).

Bought a couple of rock music-related photo prints and framed album covers (those that have a little list of the "best albums" by the band/musician under the cover) to hang around the apartment.
-Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) doing the leg thing
-Freddie and Brian (Queen) playing
-London Calling by the Clash
-Not really a cover but art of Bowie with the iconic eye lightning facepaint thing

There was a photo I liked but didn't buy, I recognized Chris Cornell in it but wasn't sure the band was Soundgarden (could have been fucking Audioslave). Looked it up and sure enough, it was Soundgarden. To my shame, I was wearing a Soundgarden shirt today, too.

Also a frame to put some really, really nice drawings my kid made for me some time ago.

Also bought some artisanal chocolates, and to my surprise, I found myself chatting for a good while with the lass who makes and sells them, and flirting back and forth a bit.
After my sad breakup a couple years ago, I'm completely fucked off from the very idea of pursuing relationships or even flings, so the fact that there was the tiniest of sparks (and mutual at that) in there was really unexpected to me. I'm still not interested in doing anything, but
I'll, uh, buy more chocolates next time I go.

Sorry for briefly turning this into the "How are you doing" thread.

On that note, there's a lot of vintage photo sellers at the place, too. I was looking at a few, but I didn't pull the trigger on anything.
They were mostly of old architecture, cars and buses, some nature, some historical figures, etc. Not too much in terms of just people's family photos, but there surely are at least some out there.
They even sell photo slides; collecting them seems like a fascinating hobby, but I don't think it's for me.

I think once I've had my fill of music/movie/nerd shit posters and photos all over the apartment, I'll move onto some vintage photos to put on shelves and so on.

Damn dude that has to suck. Soundgarden (and grunge bands in general) are great.

It really isn’t, another reason I like collecting old photos is because I’m a photographer myself. A lot of the photos are very artsy and some have either interesting stories visually told or the armature composition is interesting to me. There’s also been famous photographers that were rediscovered after the fact because their stuff was in a storage shed or sold.
