We need to find a way to revive Wernher von Braun. He likely has some very interesting ideas
If we're reviving dead German geniuses with good ideas, I have an entire list of notables that should resurrected and given massive budgets. Just give me a handful, just five or ten, and I assure you that we will have thriving colonies on the Moon and Mars within a few scant decades. We will also have a more peaceful, unified nation of incredible cultural, economic and military power capable of persevering for a thousand years!

Considering SpaceX was succesful on their trial test to redirect an asteroid course i wouldn't be surprised if the tech to pull asteroids out of the belt and crash them into the American nuclear test sites for resources is within the century, it'd be a massive boon being able to just pull steel and other rare minerals out of space
For what its worth, bringing them back to earths surface would actually be a huge waste. The single biggest thing limiting us from building shit in orbit is the insane expense of moving tonnage up from the surface. Bring a high nickel metallic asteroid into a stable orbit, and you've just made structural material for space construction as close to free as it'll get anytime soon. There's still a lot of trial and error to be done around how to make compound and alloys in space, but nobody really bothers to look into it because there's no need. That rock would change the game very quickly.

Outside of a few rare earth metals (Not your golds and silvers, your actual rare earths) there's not much in space worth bringing right down to earth in a raw form, terrestrial irons are more than readily available, and mostly limited by transportation. Unless your willing to flatten a city, any asteroid recovery is going to be in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, and face the same transport limits. But depending on what comes out of the industrialization of orbit, space offers some really interesting opportunities for manufacturing that can't be replicated on earth (Controlled low/no gravity alloying, for one) that may just provide materials that open new opportunities. Its already been shown that zero-g allows manufacturing far more effective fiber optic cables, and there's experiments underway regarding its impacts on pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Just make sure you keep a close eye on what they are manufacturing. If it looks like they're starting to produce 50 foot tall piloted mechs...
I'd be more worried about heavy tungsten rods that have a nuclear engine at the back. Space combat certainly will be an interesting thing.

Britain did highly regulate the transfer of manufacturing technologies to the states, along with the logistics of shipping such equipment.
Not to mention that the british wouldn't even let money come to the colonies. it was against the law for English gold and silver it enter north America. that more than anything stifled economic progress until decades after the revolution the US was still a mostly barter economy.

some of the colonies coined silver during the reign of cromwell but that ended when the king came back. the first true fiat currencies were in the colonies in the 1680s and 1690s because there was just no money to run the colonial governments. it went hyper inflationary of course.

Pretty much everyone close to the Obamas and even Michelle herself, basically have said that Michelle came out of her husband's eight years in office with such hatred for white people but in particular poor/middle class white people (IE the GOP rank and file voting block) that she can't be trusted to run for office due to her being one bad day away from openly calling for white genocide as her election platform.
If you think that she only became racist against white people AFTER office you're a complete fucking idiot. Her thesis was just whining about being a black woman because the white man hates her so. She has always hated white people, she just disguised it better.

See, I'd be excited to see where this tech would lead humanity to, but since we live in clown world it's most likely going to waste on some senile gerontocrat's ego project or whatever passes off as a "global conspiracy" these days (as it's been shown The Powers That Be are not as infallible as we realized).

A damn shame. A younger me would be interested in this news...

I honestly don't see how they can replace Biden, sure 2 or 3 years ago they could have but Kamala is the best life insurance policy Biden has ever had. The sad part is the best candidate the Democrats have that matches the best against Trump is Biden. Kamala is polling in the low 30s against Trump, Newsom is poison outside of California and polls about the same as Harris against Trump. The DNC ran off two quality candidates in Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. The only play the DNC has left is lawfare and to try and lock Trump up and rig the election again, but rigging will have to go even more beyond they did in 2020 as Biden is far weaker than he was iin 2020 and Trump is stronger than he was in 2016.

Have you not seen those posts shared from Democratic Underground? There's tons of people out there who DO IT FOR FREE.
Hell, the yellow-star folks PAY for the privilege. DU is its own kind of schizo echo-chamber hugbox. No dissent from the officially approved Democratic Party line is tolerated. If a major Democrat official does or says something stupid, you're not allowed to point it out, and if one DOES say something, it's only to offer totally reasonable and lucid explanations as to why it was, in fact, NOT stupid. Any criticism of any major Democratic figure is quickly removed as violating their rules (oh, but they have a "jury" system of hive-mind users, so it's all so democratic).

DU is the OG lolcow of Web 1.0 websites.

On another topic, this hWite woman totally nails Kamala (I don't have a Xitter, so I couldn't download it -- maybe someone could help a brother out).
