Why do Americans wear shoes in their house?

Don't you see how disgusting it is to drag dirt from outside into your house? Is it because your floors are so dirty from wearing shoes inside that you don't want to walk on them barefoot? When will you become civilized and take your shoes off and put on some nice warm wool socks instead? Filthy!

Solution
It's because they're too fat and lazy to put on/take off their shoes more than once a day. I'm surprised they haven't invented an appliance to do it for them.
Floors get dirty no matter what, even people who don't wear their shoes inside still have to clean their floors just as much as people who wear shoes.
The floors of people who take their shoes off at the door are absolutely not as dirty as those who drag in filth and mud from outside, lol.

Because it's my floor and I can. If it gets dirty I clean it. We also clean dishes and wash clothes when they get dirty over here. Weird how that works.
"If it gets dirty". When you walked on it with outside shoes it's now dirty. Do you drag a mop behind you all day? If not that's still vile.

Maybe not as dirty, but you still have to clean the floor just as much as non-shoe wearers. Like back during covid when I didn't go out for days, I still had to sweep and mop the same amount. You can't just avoid cleaning your floors.

Besides, I can't speak for anyone else but a lot of us shoe wearers actually go barefoot in the yard lol

You think that if I step in a pile of mud or dog shit I just say fuck it and drag it all over the house? Are you able to catch every piece of dust before it falls, scour every inch for dead bugs before they decompose or prevent mice from shitting in your walls or attic?
Be careful, you probably have a bag of rotting garbage inside your house. A toilet? You actually shit inside your house? My word such savagery!

Particularly in the South, it's considered impolite to greet a guest in socks or bare feet. My grandmother from one of the beautiful states of the Confederacy was appalled when, at the age of 14, I was having a young lady over to the house but was not wearing shoes. Basically, you want to signal to your guest that you've taken special steps to make them feel welcome. And indeed, feet are fucking disgusting, and socks make them worse. So put your hooves away, heathens!

I don't take my shoes off unless I know for sure I'm not going out again or I am done with all of my errands for the day. Idk how to explain it, but that's just how it is out here, if your shoes are off then it's like you're signalling that you're done for the day and it's time to relax. If shoes are on, then you're still doing stuff or expecting company, etc.

Floors get dirty no matter what, even people who don't wear their shoes inside still have to clean their floors just as much as people who wear shoes.

As an American these two quotes sum up my shoes in the house mentality. I always find it really off putting when you go to a party or a fancy dinner at someone's house and they make you take off your shoes. Not to be a snob, but you don't ever see weathly people taking their shoes off when they have guests over. If it's just a casual small event I don't mind as much.

I keep my shoes on if I'm coming inside but leaving again fairly soon. When I'm just at the house, I don't have shoes on.

I also hate when someone has a huge pile of shoes at their front door. Literally one of the first things you see and it's a mess.

Unless they mop the sidewalk where you live (doubt) yea, they are dirty. And never going anywhere except between your car and the parking lot of a store isn't the brag you think it is, fatty Amerimutt.
They clean off trash from the streets, and any miniscule amount of dirt that gets on the sidewalk (because people don't walk around in it) is washed off by the rain. We don't have roads buried in filth that require regular washing like where you live.

Is this a joke or are you actually serious? I can no longer tell these days with how ridiculous non-Americans get with their claims. You take your shoes off when you enter the house. You don’t walk on the carpet with your shoes, and at most walk with them on easy to clean hard surfaces (tile/wood/etc) if need be. Do you believe we just wear them 24/7 and shower with them on?

Going barefoot in the yard after a long day is very relaxing.

Look up grounding/earthing. There's a lot of people who believe being barefoot on soil is very good for you, but there are people who think it's just woowoo. Personally, I don't care if there's a scientific reason for it or not, it just feels nice and makes me feel better.

So like wait do you even have a pair of shoes incase like a fire happens in the middle of the night? I always have atleast one pair of shoes that I keep in my room incase the house sets ablaze. I don’t trust slippers because they won’t really protect well against most debris and glass.

Especially if it’s a freshly cut lawn, you get off of it and notice all the green on your feet, and then you get the garden hose to scrub it all off. Good times.
