It's borderline disastrous though. He's been streaming over 12 hours total so far today and the campaign is sitting at $72,350 right now. He's sold 396 of the die-cast cars ($25ea for $9,900 total). The problem is the campaign description says those won't be made until the campaign hits $80k. I suspect he expected to hit that number in the first couple hours otherwise it would've been written differently. There's only two days left on the campaign too. It'll probably pass $80k before it ends but this has to kill his ego.

Another thing about those "mini-cars" that I didn't pick up until just now. The standard racing collectable die-cast is 1:24 scale and are really popular in the NASCAR world. That's what I assumed these would be. Not for $25 though. Those things usually sell new for over $100 so there's exactly zero chance EVS is leaving that kind of money on the table especially when several of the campaign items are just "Give money to Ethan Van Sciver for nothing". The only way that price-point makes sense is if these will be little Matchbox car things. Nowhere on the campaign page is the size or scale described. I haven't watched any of the streams today so if he hasn't explicitly described their size a bunch of people are going to be piiissssed (in six years when it finally arrives and they remember what the fuck it is).

Hasn't he made those little toy cars before though? I thought that IS the car he was always going to make. Little hotwheel cars. Also the igg is ALSO for funding camelot to go to the actual race. How much is that gonna cost? I assume if he needs the igg to go, it would be like 20-30k? Literal random guess here. But if it's under 10k and he's still asking for money despite being a 'successful' ytber, well, I guess that's par for the course since camelot has always been a scumbag. I think there were allegations of him misusing his own igg before he started mingling with the sektur (rekieta and co).

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they reach 100k but haven't actually made any significant profit.

Buying a seat in an existing (shitty) ARCA team car for a race is probably $10k-$20k. Somehow he managed to wreck two cars (?) sponsored by Rekieta last year so it can't be all that much total. Last year's price tag is probably broken down on KF somewhere.

Mind you, this year appears to be Coomy's first stint in ARCA. I dunno what the hell the Rekieta cars were. I think they might have been Late Models, or some other lower tier regional thing.

Yeah, he always used to claim CG were the only ones using crowdfunding "appropriately" because they start campaigns without a finished product, whereas Iconic (and I guess now Rippa) use it basically as a storefront/payment processing system because their product is largely or completed finished when the campaign goes up.

I always thought his argument was dumb, because the major practical difference to the consumer is Iconic and Rippa customers get their books within a reasonable amount of time, whereas Frog uses crowdfunding as an excuse to take 800 million years to complete and ship anything.

I'm sorry, but I prefer the model Iconic and Rippa employ. I don't care if using the crowdfunding ecosystem as a glorified storefront isn't in line with the original intent of crowdfunding. Like you say, a solid case could be made Ethan doesn't need crowdfunding to complete anything. He seems to use it as an excuse to get a lot of money up front and then work at a very lazy pace.

I'm sure that's to buy a seat in the car. In these minor league circuits like ARCA there are race teams who don't have enough money to race the entire season so they basically rent out the car and crew for anyone to drive it in a race to fund more of the season for their legitimate drivers or just to sell billboard ads on the cars all season. Wrecks don't really matter since those get the most airtime anyway. The cars used for this purpose are shit.

Like many others here at the present time, there are significant gaps in my CG knowledge due to i) IRL shite and ii) losing track of the Farms during all the turbulence.

Curious about a few minor things:-
1) Whatever happened to Charlie’s London? Was her campaign fulfilled? It is the closest I’ve come (along with Fraga’s now obvious scam) to backing a CG book. Last I saw, she was trying her hand at hosting YouTube streams with Mandy Summers, and some other nondescript woman who looked like an extra from One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest; pushing her bf/husband onto the camera - didn’t hear much about the comic though after Ethan’s boner for it rapidly became flaccid. I always wondered what the Chaplin estate would think of their official comic being promoted alongside frauds, sex pests and degenerates.

2) One thing I’ve never quite understood - is Billy Tucci actually Comicsgate or just adjacent? I know this sounds a stupid question considering his residency at Kings, but outside of streaming with Ethan he never (wisely) talks about Comicsgate or even seems to dally much with the major names. I heard on a stream recently that Shi is back in comic stores, which admittedly I am pretty uneducated about these days (I may have misheard).

3) How exactly does Graham Nolan manage to share a bed with both Comicsgate and FNT/adjacent without bruising the ego of either side, especially EVS? Nolan strikes me as one of the scant few who delivers a good product and on time; The Chenoo looked really interesting but I never really followed it up outside of his promoting streams.

4) Mandy Summers. That’s it, just Mandy Summers. How the fuck, why the fuck and what the fuck could other CG ‘pros’ see her as an equal in their space? Her books looked abysmal and surely there are enough groupies/Renie to provide the eye candy - that Southern Fried fucking drawl makes me truly puzzled how she remains un-murdered.

5) What exactly was Malin’s problem with Irene? I found her somewhat annoying and it is evident she prefers to be orbited by simps rather than competitive artists judging by her own recent streams. But I don’t get what stoked such an apparent dislike from Malin.
