Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

this one was one of my favorites from that guy. Even if it’s fake it’s a pretty good story, especially his last comment in the video.
I love when he reads news stories about "actual supernatural" things happening and takes the piss out of them.

Edit so I don't double post

Speaking of taking the piss. I know a lot of the killers on this list have been talked about to death, but I love this guys humorous take on it.

He's very hit or miss for me. He has a lot of content, so he ends up covering everything from popular to lesser known cases. His attitude is too flippant for me, though. Like, I don't need every video to be super heavy, but when he adds rave music and does a little dance, I feel like a ghoul for enjoying the content.

He along with Coffeehouse Crime and Dire Trip are pretty good and sort of similar in the dude sits in front of a camera and talks about shit way. My favorite channel for that type of stuff in general is Shrouded Hand. He actually did a ritual years ago in a video, but he never said what he wanted to gain. I wonder if he wished for success with his channel.

I like Coffeehouse because he is an Australia weeb so I get to hear about cases from my country for once.

Also it's very funny because it's usually bogan drama and I lol thinking about non Aussies being exposed to them when he shows their interview clips.

Watched somebody play that Home Safety Hotline game. Holy shit the voice acting is absolutely terrible, and funniest of all, there's several completely-non-passing trannies doing voice lines for their selected gender. Overall it's pretty boring and predictable. Fat girl at the end gave me a chuckle though.

Figured it was relevant because the game was clearly built on the shit this thread laughs at on the regular and is mildly popular in those circles right now.

I believe there were 2 or 3 recordings like that, and those bits in particular generally confused the hell out of me. I remember seeing some videos of it and some people did point this out in the comments. I just assumed there were like 2 voice actors (one for males, one for females), doing different inflections, and they decided to switch it up for fun. If they were voiced by troons, then that's actually hilarious because at that point the world is literally yelling at you that not only do you not pass visually, but obviously also audibly and you should end yourself at that point.

i think greylock at least has a good premise
the idea of accidentally meditating a bunch of monsters into existence is interesting and i like how it relates to project stargate and all that woowoo the army was funding
it's a shame it only has shakycam videos in the middle of nowhere and audio-only "videos" that have become a staple of wanting to make a horror series but not caring enough to ask your friends to act for you

I don't give a shit about true crime and don't know why it's so popular in this thread.
I'm pretty sure this thread started as a way to make fun of the overly dramatic horror channels like Nexpo, Night Mind but now people just share cool stuff. That said, it's funny to me how fucking starved for content the horror YT circle is. I was checking out Ghosttrundra's newest behind the scenes video on their "Lacey's flash games" series and now this is all over my feed and related videos:

Mind you, if you have watched the Lacey series (Which are like 3 videos, less than a 15 minute runtime if you add them all up), you'd know that this doesn't need a deep dive to be explained, it's very straightforward actually yet here you have a fucking dozen literally who's explaining why you should be scared instead of letting the source material do it.

I'm pretty sure if you watch ANY semi-popular series you'd get 150 recommendations from faggots trying to explain what you are watching. Part of what made ARGs fun was that you could play detective and put the pieces together yourself.

Oh well, subcribe to my Patreon since YouTube won't let me say words like "suicide" without taking my money away :(

rate me autistic but most of these things arent ARGs because they dont include any interaction between the audience and characters, like how in marble hornets and tribetwelve they would ask for advice from the viewers and make a choice depending on what the comments were
but that would mean you have to design multiple paths your characters could take and make your series look like something an ordinary person would film and post, which would be too much effort if reaction channels give you coverage for just about anything
early found-footage webseries had way more effort and i'm not just being contrarian like the countless XYZ has been RUINED! videos

it's like ben drowned but more shit

To be fair to the modern gamer crowd, single player games have trended toward more movie than game. I could see why folks make that mistake when it comes to ARG.

Incidentally, is biocaching still a thing or was that a phenomenon of the pandemic?

For some reason the modern generation of youtube visionaries think that "game" is synonymous with "storytelling". At this point ARG is just a buzzword for "paste this junk of text into a SHA1 to text converter for episode 3 of fortnites at freddys". You'd think that if some of these people had stories worth telling they would just be able to sell you on it based off the contents alone rather than pretending to add depth by making it more inconvenient to take in.
