I’m currently reading the series of unfortunate events books with my kid before bed and there is a villain in those books who is so fat that their gender is obscured. Seriously. Fat children, especially the obese ones, make me immensely sad, because it becomes so hard to overcome for them once they reach adulthood. Letting your child, an infant/toddler at that, become obese is nothing short of child abuse imo. Julianna's fat politics are lulzy, but also very unfortunate, because they give her an out from feeling like she has to put in any of the arduous work needed to turn her health and relationship with food around. With HAES, she can just submit to her fate while telling herself that doing so is actually a radical political statement.
