While you chuds continue to discuss the inferior asymmetrical horror game, DbD, I'll remind everyone that the Demonic Toys have now been added to the Puppet Master game.

Jokes aside, it's a pretty significant content update and it seems to have actually gotten multiple lobbies started up in a few regions, a rarity for the game. My favorite so far might be Baby Oopsie-Daisy. His power descriptions are all written as if the character himself wrote them, leading to funny shit like an ability called "Missed Me" which reads "Press (button) to get the fuck out of the way, dodging an attack" and "Fucking Gun" which you can use to "shoot dumbasses" The kill animations are good too. I'd check it out if you're bored.

It's a shame such passion and work ethic is reserved only for devs who work on games with double-digit players at peak hours. BHVR could stand to learn a thing or two from the Puppet Master team.

Now that Steam allows AI-generated content, I'm waiting for some insane 3-person dev team from China or Russia to release an asym with just literally every IP in it.
 
Damn it! How can the Knight be killswitched for weeks after Christmas break! His exploit wasn't even gonna ruin games and would have lead to some fun builds with his guard add-ons.

They killed him immediately while BHVR sat on their ass for days letting the Object of Obsession+Blood Pact bug giving perma aura-reading on killer or Hex: Huntress Lullaby being unremovable.

I uninstalled for a while now. I want my No Where to Hide perk back and I'm sick of survivor fags hiding around gens and either get gen rushed under my face or taking half a minute finding those sneaky assholes and get gen rushed anyways.

I don't really follow Otz and he seems to have a bit of a big head over his status as "the best" but I did bother to watch his whole diatribe about the game and why he lacks motivation and the facts kinda speak for themselves with the AMA and how Bhvr gives non-answers and they seem to lack ambition. It really does feel like we see new killers and some tweaks but that's about it. This talk of new game modes is cool and all but they won't manifest until next year if we're optimistic, and even then only one of them. The switched perspectives one is cool for example but I would expect it to be half baked because I've seen someone use a cheat engine to do so and on nurse it looks utterly atrocious because it used the first person "model" so only her arms and head moved, the body was rigid. They'd prob do that and call it a day and then survivors would be a pure camera with no viewmodel or anything.

And at the cost of this we don't have a good spectator mode for like tournament/3rd party viewing, cheaters still worm their way in, some bugs still exist years after the killer released, older killers are shit. That roadmap to me is probably more like a wishful thinking roadmap. I can be proven wrong.

the anti-camp thing for example was like the one real update of the year that wasn't just killer additions or tweaks. It seems like they want to coast and do the obvious content release and hope challenges/tomes fill in the interim, and then holiday/anniversary events, treating it like "maintenance" and not live service updates.

If you wanna see a real “big head” in the community look at Dowsey. I remember briefly tuning into a stream of his where he was talking about the hardcore survivor series with Otz, acting like he had invented the idea of collabs.

I started playing DBD again because of Alan Wake.
Honestly my main issue with the game right now is probably just the Billy chainsaw miss reduction.
If they changed it slightly I think he’d be perfect.
Oh and release Alex Casey/Max Payne as a legendary skin

Basically it’s the last of us but good, in other words.
The passion project of a mad man that spans across several mediums and is known more for the second game instead of the first now.
The difference being Sam Lake is a nice humble guy with loves video games and film.

Whilst Neil Druckmann is a fart huffing kike who hates video games and is a failed screenwriter.

I enjoy sweet schadenfreude and eye-rolling for the bullshit that was Christmas snowman 2021 that gave all survivors extra health states for hiding in them and yet unlike Lights Out, snowmen were there for 4 weeks, you couldn't opt out of that mode and you had a bunch of white knighty cunts telling you to shut up.

Most of the comments i read about Lights Out is that Borgo looks fancier in that mode than with the red tint.

Also how gamechanging perks truly are + how dumb survivors can be without them.

I don't know how mentally defective you have to be to demand new game modes from BHVR. How can anyone expect the devs who constantly make inhumanly stupid decisions to suddenly pop out something as big and complex as a new game mode, when they can't even do basic character/perk balancing? Why encourage them to waste time making something so large instead of fixing their game? I guess it's at very least funny to see survivor mains actually be treated unfairly for once.
 


Has anyone ever gotten the media player Null uses to work? It always just spins and never loads. So I just post links twice out of convenience.

Edit: I took a peak at the dev's Twitter and they announced a further 150 bug fixes... How long until assholes wake up and stop supporting these devs?

Anyway, I still play TCM, mostly on and off now. It has a lot of issues. Choy hit the nail on the head with the whole "3 vs 4 doesn't work as killers are punching bags to make it fair". But it's worse than that now.

The February 6 patch has made it so that grappling is pretty much 100% safe. Some characters even get health back from it. So basically you got Victims actively seeking out Family to get back health and stamina.

I used to play with friends, sometimes still do, but the meta shift has made them fall off really hard. The grind's just fucking dumb. Specially dumb considering now you gotta respec everything as previously meta perks are just useless now. Bubba was shadownerfed, they admitted this, and now are covering their ears going "lalala" saying it was ackshually a bugfix. Andy Cleeves then proceded to ackshually the community for a couple more hours, even though, y'know, himself and the other community rep had been literally asking people for videos and reports on how Bubba had been changed... When it turns out they knew all along, it was a nerf, they knew they'd catch flak for nerfing an already very weak character, and just lied their asses off to... Save face? Troll everyone? Really, lying is already a dick move but straight up asking the community to do more rounds of unpaid QA when THEY KNEW THAT IT WAS A SHADOWNERF seems fucking pointless.

Regardless, Bubba is more of a necessity now more than ever. You can not grapple the dude and he has a fair chance of slicing a grappling victim down, so he is in a really roundabout way the strongest individual killer.

Hiker's been gutted by this unless the Hiker player is really good. Read: Most Hiker players are garbage. They're typically Victim mains. It's to a point where dudes are asking for help with him when he's the one guy who can reliably 1 vs 1 anyone with a good build and decent play. Still, he's in a weird spot where his chase (Skillful and fun with lots of player interaction) has been nerfed to death but his traps and camping (Boring, dull and braindead strat that literally anyone can do and bruteforce) have been insanely buffed to the point where Hiker can stalemate entire matches on his own as long as he checks on traps frequently. Victims will run out of Bomb Squad charges eventually. Then if you just trapped doors, you can ensure that Victims waste all their resources before they can get out. It's such weird, ticking time clock outdated design.

Cook's still really good but also completely useless if your team's composed of gluesniffers, which it is often composed off. Not much else to say about him. I 4K'd with him not long ago. He got nerfed a while back and is nowhere near as fun or impactful any more, which has killed the Cook population. Cue the put stick through bike wheel meme. Cook was the only well designed character. He naturally encourages optimal play. He made optimal play actually fun at times, somewhat bearable at worst. He eased patrol duty by bringing a lot of slowdown. Cook was basically the 3gen strat equivalent. Without him, Family has to play 100% perfect. ONE fuckup ends your match. But of course, everyone's playing Johnny instead.

Johnny and Sissy are so bad they are throw picks and they'll never get fixed. They lack some animations, even. Straight up unfinished, shoddy work. Sissy in particular received what is possibly the most stupid nerf in an assym game's history aside from #KeepNerfingPig. She used to be able to poison through gaps. She's not any more. Johnny just doesn't have a jog animation or a walk attack animation so he can be tech'd all day. On top of that he attracts coomers and furries. And coomer furries. Who absolutely refuse to patrol and will whine up a shitstorm when you finish off someone that they started, on the way to an exit, that THEY LEFT COMPLETELY UNGUARDED. "Getting kills off of my work mayne."

Nancy is Pay To Win now. It's really funny, because she got nerfed but it doesn't really matter. At level 3, her tracking ability is a kick to the Victim's dick as there's pretty much no counterplay to it. She requires 100% map knowledge on not just her part but her team's part though, so it's arguably fair. Her stupid little traps that nobody eats net you free hits just by existing, nobody's gonna waste Bomb Squad stacks on them, and in the weird cases where somebody actually steps on one it's an absolute death sentence. She kinda encourages optimal play. Also real funny how Cook got gutted when she got released.

I don't understand what they use to balance. Probably stats in a vacuum. "Oh, LF is super strong, he gets most of the kills, dude." He's got a oneshot, is the fastest character in the game, spawns in basement, and noobstomps like a boss. "Oh Hiker is weak, nerf Victim counters against him, but also give Victims safe grapple." Hiker was the strongest individual character in the game. Grapple buff has hurt him but not enough that he can't just kill everyone by himself if his team patrols, it just takes him longer now.

The game, played optimally, is just security guard simulator, the family's just outrageously weak, Victims are very near VHS levels of stupid, meme strong, Danny got nerfed more by the loss of that functionally infinite stamina perk than his power, which is still busted, good news Nancy's actually very strong now, so she's been made Pay To Win retroactively, and Family has to play even more perfect now just to barely get the job done.

Chasing and killing is fun. So it's no wonder most of the community wants to do nothing but that. Which of course demands that someone patrols in their stead, usually a map designed to be too big to be held down by one dude alone: That'd be busted. So most of the remaining Family players have 0 interest in playing as a team. They want to do the fun shit and you to do 100% of the boring shit for them.

To be fair I said at the start it'd be dead by Christmas and it's on life support now, so eh. It technically lasted longer than I expected. There's two new characters in the works. Some alternate Bubba ('Member when Wes said the characters are ten bucks because of all the complex nuanced voice acting? Yeah, the new Family dude only grunts!) and Johnny's biomom (Fuck my life how are they so in love with that basic-ass edgelord dumbfuck character for coomers?)

TL;DR: It's pretty damn close nowadays to that "Toxic Bully Squad is a GOAL" VHS level of balancing where it's reeeeeeal easy to escape, matchmaking has open the floodgates, there's enough players for maybe 200 matches at one given time, which really isn't a lot, and I can say from experience that most high level Family players left all know and mostly hate each other, so lobbies still are gonna get dodged 24/7. I'd rather eat an entire unseasoned cardboard box than have to play with Furry Johnny Main Coom Master 420 Patrol For Me Pwis UwU again.


And it would be fine in almost any other game. Obviously you're not gonna repeat match with a dude who just, I dunno, lives in Singapore so your connection just isn't good at all. But that's where the astoundingly low numbers come in: You are gonna meet this guy a lot. At one point you start remembering every 0 patrol guy and dodging they ass, at which point Victims furiously mash their keyboards on the forums that you know, it really would be in everyone's best interest if you took your Johnny + Sissy known derp players combo in the most Victim sided map and let them teabag you for 20 minutes and call you a useless sack of shit on post game chat, instead of, I dunno, thanking you for being a punching bag for their amusement because it was clearly a charity match.

With how rough the grind is there's just no way new players will grow into proper Family mains when their learning experience is being put against 600 hour 24/7 gaming goblins. There's no practice mode and there's no skill based matchmaking, which I feel at this point is a necessity. My friends play once a week, if that. They're being matched with dudes I see on all day, every day. If you play a Victim premade your matchmaking time is atrocious, enough to ice you out of hitting your stride in between matches, even. This is why fighting games let you go to practice mode in between matches. A lot of the decisions on Gun's part are just refusing to do the absolute bare minimum. Most of them hit up Tiktok or whatever other distraction between matches, so when they go in, they're completely fresh, die in two seconds, and the cycle eternally repeats until someone gets bored and leaves.

A huge problem nobody talks about is level locked matchmaking and general player level over Victim and Family separate levels. This means that you get to get fucked if you played mostly one role when you wanna switch to the other. Switching from Hitchhiker or Victim to the other is fine. Switching from Cook to, I dunno, Connie, will have you suddenly unfamiliar with objective spawns, gaps, or when and where to attack because your Cook experience is mostly staring at fuseboxes and giving callouts and those are just not skills that transfer to anything. Not to mention there's no XP bleed, gotta get them playtime hours, so you'll have a ridiculously underpowered build when you make the switch.

Matt and Wes will get a thread in here eventually, I feel. Bots and a training mode accessible while looking for lobbies would at least salvage what's left of the game. Instead, we'll get Bloody Nancy, Manson Danny, two more characters that Sumo already made and are probably gonna be overpowered as fuck again, hit August and be done with it.

Just let this be a warning for people looking to buy a Gun product in the future. When I'm winning 80% of my Family games, sweating my balls off and even when I win I still end up angry or frustrated most of the time, there is clearly a problem. Family teammates tend to get very stupid and extremely competitive rather than cooperative.

Victim escapes generally are pretty easy and feel okay. Teamwork just happens naturally for them. They are clearly the power role. I play both sides, did a 100 winstreak on Family at one point, because fuck Otzdarva mostly, but with a strong premade I don't think Victims could ever realistically lose. There's way too much counterplay for killers and Leland in particular can bruteforce a lot of checkmate situations.

Honestly, I only got it through a friend who shared it with me, and I feel it was a fun game at some point, definitely got my 0 bucks' worth, but full meta sweaty strats aren't a thing that "Devs can look to avoid and not lean into". It's the endgame for ANY assym.

Well, not really. The endgame is dying and making DBD look good by comparison, surprisingly enough.

As a redditor put very succintly: "There's no competition between BHVR and Gun. BHVR is clearly better. And they ain't even good."
