Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

Remember when streamers were getting DDOSed because of a vulnerability only in Steam? Yeah, it's still there. I have no proof other than Trust Me Bro, but I would advise if you do play on steam to uninstall Steamworks or if you are more tech savvy than I am, figure out a way to cut off access to Dead by Daylight for it as it will effect other games as well. Or play on litterally any other platform.

But yeah that vulnerability is still there. Who is surprised?

Edit to add it will come back as it is used by any game that use it, so in DBD's case uninstall before you play so you are sure the Steamworks is from DBD and not been tampered with, or whatever is going on.

How do you mean? Steamworks itself has a vulnerability or it's some specific distribution of it from bhvr for how DBD works? I did have an insanely bad bout of lag in a match and I'm not sure if it was from a player, although I was tunneling someone so for all I know it was some sort of lagswitch. It did last a good minute where normally I deal with maybe 10-15 seconds tops

I am by no means going to try and explain it because what might be the issue is so far beyond my scope it's not funny.

I know several games use it so deleting it and it coming back is not the problem, but say if it were to update while you were playing and you have it set to not download/update while you are playing a game and it does, you should probably delete it as soon as you notice.

I know Steamworks involes something about injecting 3rd party softwear to save space. I also know this was only ever a Steam vulnerability despite DBD being on Windows, Epic, and Steam but all of them are on PC.

Make of it what you will, I was barely lucky I got on to Tor when we had to last time. Just passing on the info I do know, Fren.

GUESS WHAT TIME IT IS NIGGERS!??!?!??!??

Fuck Otzdarva time.

He is pissy today. Keep in mind that I agree with most of his comments but it was 8:44 that got me where he declares he will no longer make videos discussing balance because he declares it being pointless.

8:44

I doubt he will stop making balance videos because they get clicks and it's just him ranting while gameplay footage is on. Very easy content to make. In addition, the community is getting tired of Otz and his bitching and more people are standing up and saying shit in the protected spaces. So, there's a chance Otz is kicked off the Fog Whisperer shill program.

As @DuranceVile confirmed, he is quitting his 50 win series.

I'll say this: if he wants to switch to playing other games more often, all the power to him. Playing DbD religiously for years has pretty much built his house, but probably shortened his lifespan with how much bullshit is involved. I'll say good luck, because like a lot of "X game" youtubers, he'll probably see his channel falter significantly on other content, as very few can make that switch from "specialist content" to "generalist content" without having their view numbers plummet.

On the other hand, if it only took until now to realize that BHVR are a bunch of unambitious hacks trying to squeeze the most money out of the least amount of effort, then he's a moron. I imagine it's more that he just willing to say it now because his personal hopes are dashed upon the rocks. And if the majority of the community is riotous at this point, calling out the devs is more of a safe bet than if things are all hunky-dory. So it mostly comes across as disingenuous to switch to bashing them for their incompetence now, after going to bat for them repeatedly over the years.

I would have a modicum of respect for him regained if he burned that bridge with Behavior. I just find it funny how the devs have essentially catered exclusively to him with the removal of hook grabs among other shit he's requested and only now does he get pissed because his MMR has been changed...

He knows. He's always known. All of them know. I still can't stand streamers.

Edit: I was looking at Otz' channel and found this which has a very suspicious edit you'll notice at 1:18

Match starts at 0:33. Only gen defense perk is Deadlock. No Corrupt or getting lucky and finding someone right away. Finally finds a guy -who suspiciously played noticeably bad- at 1:03 and still no gens are done. Fast forward to a completely different injured survivor -who also played very badly IMHO- and he secures the down. Still no gens done until 1:28 a gen is about to be completed. What were the other survivors doing during all that time. Sitting around with their thumb up their ass?

Once again, another video of his declaring that blank build is OP* if you follow the strategies he has planned.

*Only if playing against bad survivors.

I also find it funny that he's not taking advantage of Chucky hype. He's only made 4 videos with Chucky gameplay. The game has never been more popular because of Chucky.

Not surprised at all to hear this. I've had his stream on the past few days and he's been uncharacteristically venomous about BHVR. He ragequit one stream last week, when he discovered Huntress was bugged. He's been switching over to Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon 2 a lot. I got the impression he was feeling out audience retention on those. I don't think he's gotten past about 12 in his Nostalgia Streak since the MMR changes. Oh and he admitted he uninstalled Meet Your Maker, RIP.

And yeah he's right about the seemingly random things BHVR chooses to focus on when other glaring problems exist. Wild how badly they fucked this up.

It looks like the subreddit is already moving to declare Otz "not the absolute voice of balance" now that he's said this. The labor of love push has got a lot of redditers simping for BHVR, crazy stuff.

I haven't seen him in tests since I first noticed/mentioned it. I think maybe at the time he was a replacement maybe. As I have said a few times I'm not particularly good, I've just played a long time. I was in one group where someone was going on about how they are a master at the game... then they admitted later they had 800 hours in the game. Sure that's a good chunk of time but it's really not that much compared to my 4k. And when I was playing the killer I was told the skill level of the players. I got a couple of kills and I treat tests like PTB and try to learn mechanics. This was before Chucky so I really had no clue with killer then.

I've done a few courses and classes online and one of the tricks they do is when they want an answer or to just get people talking they usually call on someone they know knows the material. The test I saw him at, he was the one. This is why I said to pay attention to his videos, because suggestions he made were how things went once it was released on PTB. But yeah, haven't seen him at tests since then.

I think the leaks we saw earlier (When people thought Stranger Things was coming back) - there were pictures of the Demogorgon and then the Alien leaks happened right after. and the Demo people saw was the Alien but a re-powered Demo as I've been in a couple of tests now for unreleased content. It makes sense, for safety of unreleased content but also it's probably just not ready yet.

Didn't they take some shirts away from someone else for saying something off about the devs?

(Now as I've said before the people doing the tests are researchers, not the devs. They do a test, take notes and present it to the devs. So maybe him not being at tests has nothing to do with anything, but they usually ask about skill before you can get into tests. I can only guess the first one I got in that he was in, it was because of my level of survival skill.)

TL;DR I take it back when I said pay attention to what Otz says as it doesn't necessarily mean it might be a hint of changes coming soon.

(BTW I made it to mid silver first try, until I stopped because everyone was playing for rank re-set the last couple of days.)

Yeah, Dowsey was the one who lost his Twitch shirt. It was around the triple whammy of skill based MMR, Circle of Healing, and the Pinhead NFT thing. He did a video mocking the infamous stream where Patrick made the hockey analogy and other statements that showed how out of touch he was. BHVR's excuse for taking his shirt away was that it was "mean spirited" criticism. It may also have been due to Downey simping for VHS at the time. It did have a decent shot at eating up some of the asym market, but Hellbent was somehow even less competent than BHVR.

Tru3Ta1ent also got his fog whisperer status taken away after being a vocal critic of the game and Behavior for a long time. Scott Jund made up a big deal over him doing a mocking voice, saying it was ableist or something equally retarded.

That's really interesting about the tests. He never mentioned he was in those. He did say he has a direct pipeline to the devs as a fog whisperer. But to paraphrase what he said, "I tell them what I think, they say it's good information and thank me for giving it to them, and then never do anything with it."

Yeah, there was a retard war going back and forth between Tru3, Scott, and other streamers and a dev/moderator at Behavior. It involved a guy named Morph (typical streamer soyboy fag for this game), Scott, Scott's cunt wife, and EdgarAllenBro. It all started over balance talk and Scott threw the first stone. The Behavior employee was the faggot under the name 'Mandy Talks' who is a mod for Morph.

Apparently Tru3 and Scott made up? I doubt it but that's the narrative being expressed.

Honestly Scott was way better over a decade ago when his handle was DamnNoHTML rather than what it is now.
Or maybe it's rose-tinted goggles and he was always that much of a generic Canadian lib.

Didn't Scott used to do videos with Cryoatic? He was one of the original big YouTubers along with PewDiePie, until it got revealed he was doing weird sex stuff with underage fans and he totally DFE'd off the internet.

This is news to me.

The devs have released a survey asking about limited time game modes. Fuck limited time. Gimme' Killer V Killer.

The Swapped Perspectives is interesting, since I believe that was the original style back in development. Bumrush just sounds awful. Deceivers is the typical Amogus mode, wonder if they're interested in actually tying that to a killer ability later like people thought Legion was gonna be. 2v8's been requested for so long I imagine it'll be the #1 pick, and a mode without hooks at all sounds like it should be tested in regular 1v4 gameplay.

They're adding FOMO to game modes now?
Only in talks about it. But just like League of Legends. Balance is/was the same too, see-saws back-and-forth to sell characters and skins, and sometimes silence whining. I suppose it's better than NOT doing anything, so if there's enough demand from the right drag queens maybe they'll shift from temporary/seasonal to permanent.

Agreed. My guess of it is that he was told no about some things he wanted changed and it pissed him off.
