British actors Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger are set to return for the next chapter of JK Rowling's crime drama, Strike. The four-part series will see Burke back as private detective Cormoran Strike, with Grainger reprising her role as his secretary Robin Ellacott.
A sneak peek photo from the first day of filming shows the actors on set with a clapperboard labelled The Ink Black Heart. This is the title of the sixth book in the Harry Potter author's Strike series, written under her pen name Robert Galbraith.
The Ink Black Heart was published in August 2022, followed by Rowling's latest Strike novel, The Running Grave, in September 2023. In the 2022 book, Edie Ledwell, co-creator of the popular cartoon The Ink Black Heart, seeks help from Robin as she's being harassed by an online figure.
Despite initially turning her away, Robin and Strike are drawn into the case after learning that Edie has been fatally stabbed in Highgate Cemetery. Their mission becomes uncovering the identity of the online persona Anomie, who had been tormenting Edie.
Returning cast members include Ruth Sheen as Pat, Strike's office manager, Jack Greenlees as Sam Barclay, and Natasha O'Keeffe as Charlotte.
The
BBC show, made in partnership with HBO and Warner Bros, will have four one-hour episodes. The previous five series of Strike, the last of which aired in 2022, can be watched on BBC iPlayer
